Ha did I get you? I'm looking at you mods?

Hello my name is Staralfur I grew up in southwestern Ohio in the United States. I was introduced to the world on August 30th, 1995 to a loving family. I think that environmentalism, health, minimalism, humanism, and practicality are important ideals to me. My hobbies include listening to music, looking at photography, thinking about life, and reading articles.

I am of Swedish, English, and German descent and really resonate with my Swedish ancestry. I really enjoy learning about culture, language, and linguistics; because of this I speak English, French, have a decent understanding of Swedish, and I dabble in German and Dutch.

I believe having long term goals and dreams is important to the development of people and they lead to a purpose and a better life. To that end I have long term goals of my own that I hope to accomplish by some unspecified time in the future:

    1. Move to Sweden
    2. Become a vegetarian (perhaps a vegan)
    3. Reduce waste in my personal life
    4. Reduce the amount of my personal belongings
There are some interesting facts about me. I don't drink soft drinks, I gave it up in 2014 and haven't had a sip of it since. I love sparkling water and mineral water, and drink it all of the time. I really enjoy jogging (when the weather allows it). Canada is the only other country I've visited. If given the chance I would rather walk to a place than take some alternate form of transportation. I think the Union Jack is the best designed flag in the world.

Happy to meet you guys! :D

    Damn it's a guy ... What a heartbreaker ...

Anyway, hello there mate! Now sustainability is a great attitude to have, especially as a young guy. I know it's hard sometimes cause your friends are all like throwing their waste away and label you uncool and stuff (that's how it was for me at least), but you just gotta stick with it and encourage them to think about their crappy behaviour.

Btw you should definitely move to Sweden, I have been there before and for all I can say it's a gorgeous country, stunning landscapes and friendly people, one of my most favourite countries in the world really, and I have been to a lot.

    Enjoy your stay here! :)

    Wow, that's quite the lifestyle there! I would have always loved to get to know another language to at least be bilingual, but I really don't have the time to do so now ;;

It's great to meet you, Staralfur! :) We have a lot to do around here if you want to have a look around and plunge into what we have to offer here!

Hope you enjoy your time here! If there's anything around the forum you need help with, feel free to let any of us on staff know since we'd be more than glad to help out. Feel free to leave me a visitor message as well if you ever want to chat, and get to know me, or even just to say hi as well!

Have a great weekend, too :D

You have to admit that thread title gave me a good laugh... I was almost tricked into reporting it hahahaha. But hey, nice to meet you Staralfur!

No surprised to see you're into music given I saw you posting in General Entertainment just there, so I bet we'll be seeing each other crossing tastes in those music threads there. Awesome to see you have a multiculturalist background there, with the Swedish and German thrown in there. Nice to hear you plan to move to Sweden one day, it's a pretty beautiful place from what I've read about it.

Like the others said, have a great time and don't hesitate to ask me if you have questions or just want to talk stuff, you know.

Your thread title made me cringe a little... But anyway... Hello and welcome to PC. Hope you have a good time here.

Yeah being sustainable is pretty difficult. I think it's especially important for Americans because we are the most wasteful people in the world so we especially have a duty to sustainability.

Where'd you go in Sweden? I'd imagine Stockholm but did you get to enjoy any other cities like Skåne or maybe Göteborg? Personally I want to visit Lapland it looks so gorgeous even if I will freeze to death. On an unrelated note where are you from? Your use of a u in favorite implies you're from the UK, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, or New Zealand. I'd imagine you'd be taking use of EU citizenship and the Schengen Area and that you're from the UK?

    Thanks a bunch!

Why thank you very much! It's really not that hard to become bilingual it's more of a time sink to be honest so you would run into that issue. Speaking of language "Staralfur" is Icelandic for "Staring Elf"!

I'm no stranger to forums but I'll certainly drop by and say hello from time to time.

    You have a better weekend~.

Don't report me I just wanted to make a joke!

I mean to be fair who isn't into music. Also to be fair again practically everyone has German in them it feels like. Sweden is so gorgeous too.

    I won't hesitate at all!

Your thread title made me cringe a little... But anyway... Hello and welcome to PC. Hope you have a good time here.

Surely there are some hot singles in your area.

    ......yeah, you got me. I really thought that some adbot had posted ;_;

    Welcome to PC

Hahaha, my evil plan worked! :P

Lmaooooooooo, here I was thinking this would be an actual guide hahaha

I mean I can try to teach you how to find them.

you have a great sense of humor. i like you.

You're a nice person i think I like you too.

Oh wow, hahaha. But I don't need any hook-up sites, hehe ;)

Anyway! Welcome to PC! it's a pleasure to have you here with us. I hope your day is going fine! :)

I'm sure that you're going to have an amazing stay here with us, you sound like a pretty interesting person. I would love to learn German someday, and I want to leave my country as well. Out of curiosity, which is your favorite Pokemon game? And region?

If you ever want to chat, I'm open for a message at anytime. Same if you need help! I really wish you luck here with us! cheers! :)

Oh God we have a player here, too good for any hook-up sites.

Yeah my day went pretty well had to work but other than that...

I'm quite flattered that I sound like an interesting person. I think there's always just a certain level of exoticism of other places (other than obvious socioeconomic advantages). As for Pokemon I'm all nostalgia'd out and love Pokemon Yellow the most. Kanto is my favorite region too.

Be sure to hit you up sometime!

    lol. its a trap!

I went to a town called Norrtälje (I think it's spelled that way lol) because my cousin lives there and so I got to sleep in his house. I have also visited the cities of Stockholm and Uppsala and have made boat tours to a couple of islands, the biggest being Åland (which actually belongs to Finland). I went fishing in small lakes nearby my cousin's house and yeah, just generally enjoyed the nature. In Stockholm I just went on the general sightseeing tours and visited a Zoo, I remember that very well because at the end they had two boxes, one containing a snake and the other one a tarantula and you could touch them. I couldn't touch the tarantula though, I'm so freaking scared of spiders. xD
So essentially I went to Sweden to enjoy the nature, going on city trips wasn't really my first intention to do, but I did it anyway, because you never know if you get to do it again, right? :)

And nah you guessed wrong, I'm actually from Switzerland. :P

Aha, I'm not that great at singles, but thank you! Ah, and it's pretty cool that you've visited Canada; what part of Canada, may I ask? I live on Toronto, Ontario myself, and right now it's not really that cold, but, still pretty okay weather! At any rate, welcome to the forum; nice to meet you~

Sweden is a good place to be in, I hear! One of my besties lives there, so, maybe you guys can meet! Maybe! And becoming a vegetarian is a respectful choice; I wish you all the best on it! Anywho, have a grand time, and I hope we can chat more; you seem really cool! Have fun, and enjoy your time, and have a great weekend! ♥

Damn man where is link to site ?? is it there nope.....yeah here nah!

That was not funny, don't bring that wound of a forum up here. -_-

I'm holding you to your niceness.
you do have an 8 year head start it'll reflect poorly on you if I do now won't it. ;3

I need Photoshop again for GFX (I haven't touched PS in like 4 years). I need a camera for photography, but I'll gladly discuss both!

    You're nerdier! :P

I think to really experience a new place it's the small cities you have to visit so I think it's good you didn't just immediately go to Stockholm (although Stockholm and Uppsala are both pretty big (for sweden). As for Åland I wish it was just either part of Sweden or it's own country. I mean they speak Swedish and their an autonomous part of Finland. I guess controlling the straights between Sweden and Finland is in Finland's best interest

You should've at least touched the tarantula they're very nice and unlikely to hurt you!

Darnnnnnnnnnnnnnn I really was guessing the UK. You speak English really well! I'm kind of jealous because Switzerland is in my top 5 places I'd want to live/visit. What linguistic area of Switzerland do you live in?

I visited Ontario! I was around Niagara Falls most of the time I was there. It's pretty cold over here we're getting -14ºC today. Nice to meet you as well.

I know a few Swedes as well, everyone seems to nice. I feel more of an obligation to eventually be a vegetarian as terrible as that might sound haha. Thanks for the nice words, you seem really cool and nice too. I have to work both days this weekend but I'll try to have a good time.

I still regret not touching it to this day. xD

Why thank you! :) Yes it's pretty cool here. I don't know how well you know Switzerland, but perhaps you know about the different cantons in Switzerland. It's like the different states in the US. Anyway, there are 3 different linguistic areas in my canton. In the valley where I live people usually speak Swiss-German. In the southern part of my canton they speak Italian and in the western part they speak an almost extinct language called Romansh, only a few people (approximately 50 000) can speak Romansh fluently nowadays. At school they teach German (everything in Switzerland is written in German, so everyone has to learn it), Italian (they usually teach French instead of Italian in the rest of Switzerland) and English of course. Romansh is only taught in the western part of my canton, and even there it's not obligatory I believe.

Yeah I know about cantons and whatnot, whilst not technically a confederation it's still called a confederation of those cantons :P . I figured your native tongue was German since that's the most prevalent, but I didn't want to assume you lived around Geneva for instance. As for Romansh yeah I heard it's pretty much spoken only in Switzerland which is pretty cool, getting your own language. Do you think Romansh might die in the next hundred or so years?

The thing is, there are several different Romansh dialects and the government are always discussing which one the children should learn at school. So I think if there are any Romansh-speaking people left in a hundred years, they will all speak the same dialect.
