Speaking about food and restauranty stuff.. I've have a food blog that I started now in the new year.. but I was wondering if anyone here has like.. ever had a self hosted site or anything. That's my next big step. It's a bit scary to think about because it would be a commitment IMO.. but also a cool way to keep up a hobby!

Am I allowed to even share it here? Or is it "advertising"? PC rules have changed so much since I joined..

HostGator is pretty good for an small(ish) site, and not too expensive at all. It's what we use for the place I work with, which is pretty big for what it is, and any issues we have are wrapped up fast enough.

Also, was looking at your blog earlier, holy crap when you did you become such an awesome cook?

I've tried self hosting a few things in the past and the issue that kept coming up with me was that I just couldn't get a stable connection and in the end decided against it. Also I'm not overly familiar with a lot of what's involved with hosting, so it saved me a ton of headaches.

Siteground is pretty good. They have awesome costumer service and their plans are very good. I'd definitely recommend them.
