If people were not being ridiculous over location, that style of RP would have the activity. Literally the easy solution here is that those of you who want to do that style (You, Gunner, Anna and Bac basically) can all go into the RPT and do your thing. Then you have the activity you need because you sustain it yourself. Nobody is going to force anyone to join the other RPs.

If you feel like we need to continue this conversation any further I'd prefer it to be in private, whether it be pm or otherwise, as I don't think this should be carried out any further on this thread.

Would also like to point out that though I am very passionate about revitalizing WoPC ideas and will try my damndest to get this project off the ground in the place I believe it belongs, that is not all I have for this worldbuilding forum. I have so many things I am so fucking in love with worldbuilding and breakdown analysis if canon worlds and lore. I have so many different styles of project I want to try out that would work best in this forum. But it's killing a lot of my enthusiasm to be told that one of my projects is no good before I even begin. :/
 
Isn't the aim of the Forum Frontier to make a forum, and let its regulars shape their forum to how they envisioned it to be? If so, why is it such a problem that the ones who are genuinely trying to shape the forum for how we envisioned it to be gets shot down because you guys say it's just an RPT clone. Well, do you know that another forum had this problem before during its conception and was thought to be another clone? It worked out fine, and now its a permanent forum, because its regulars shaped the forum.

As for WOPC, the reason it really didnt work is because it was forced to interact with others. If one region doesnt want to participate, it slowed down for a lot of us. But now, we downsized to members who actually want a mini community under the worldbuilding forum. It would be sure to be active 99% of the time. And it doesnt infringe members who want to do separate stuff outside what we want to do. I know, apart from my region, I would want to make my own universe based on a fiction that Im writing.

All in all, what Im trying to say is that give us a chance.
 
Point: Dragon and Mana were the ones to insinuate the forum-wide collaborations for WoPC, not the mass memberbase.

Point: Mall was still a huge "can be put other places" forum. And mall/treehouse/rountable have had SO MANY ieterations over the years.

Point: we do not want this forum for just us? we are saying we want our project to be housed there with an assload of other stuff from other people. and us!

Also a note: you? didnt participate in wopc as far as i can tell? so... you're telling us what went on?

1) The problem that i pointed out that derived from forced collaboration was that inspiration died off as people had to unwillingly rework their canon, not that the interactive roleplay came from it. That was indeed where the members took it for the most part, but a) not without a lot of other content and games and b) not entirely across the board.

2) Point stands that Mall threads always could have fit in Treehouse. Point is that all things we are suggesting will not hurt RPT because we would never make them in there anyway.

3) Not saying your opinions aren't but. Those of is who were heavily involved have a very different and nuanced understanding of what was happening, plus the fact that we collaborated and discussed on a variety of platforms and there were so many things that never made it to thread or were more important than people not playing realized. So I just don't think that you understand where we are coming from as veteran participants of something we held very dear. Creating and participating and having your media be your fucking children is much. Different. Than. Looking. In.

If you did this entire debate wouldn't even be happening, so why don't you just do that and we can all go back to being friendly already because honestly I've had enough of people being at each others throats over a forum that doesn't even exist yet.

Hello I was heavily involved in both WoPC and the RPT.
 
Look. I have over and over in a variety of ways presented what I want to do and how it would fit in this forum. I have time and time again stated that this is not the only project I have in mind for a forum of this type, however, this is a thing I am very excited about. And then. You guys, over and over, shit on my ideas because you have a slightly different idea of what this forum should be. And I say, look, both of these things can coexist in this manner, and you guys say no, you have to do it this way. There is no reason for that. This is hurting me, hurting potential projects and content for your forum, and irritating everyone. Why the heck can't you just concede to let us try this one thing in a forum that it would be suited well to? Why can you not just let us show you what direction we want to take our ONE project, that we very adamantly insist be alongside other projects that are not involved or even that similar in development? Why is this. Such a dramafest. We just. Want to do something fun.
 
I'm just so tired of this. Nobody seems to want to listen and understand so here it is simply:

A few of us want to rebuild some of WoPC's stuff and bring back some storylines we did not get a chance to do before the forum was gone.
We would do this by creating our own regions, like maybe four, that are in an AU together, each its own thread.
Nobody else would be involved in this unless they wanted to be.
We might find a way to be more interactive than your average world due to us really liking the trainer game concepts we had.

That's it. That's us. That's what we want to put in this forum. We are only asking for our own threads to do our own worldbuilding, with slight modifications.

In the rest of the forum, people build worlds. We build fleshed out AUs. We build original worlds. We make stuff to draw, to hack, to roleplay, to write stories for. We do all the things we have been proposing. I make a Harry Potter AU where magic was never hidden from muggles (dibs btw). I also make a world that is revealed slowly through the eyes of a historian studying an abandoned city. And there are some collaborative regions there too. Why does it matter so much?

It's hard not to perceive things as attacks when nobody is listening and when your ideas are shit on. There was no reason for most of this god damn conversation except for the fact that you won't just stop and I am an unfortunately confrontational person. Let me have my fun. This forum is an escape and we all kow it so. Let me make stuff that I am happy about being here for. And if you do, guess what? Cool content exclusive to this forum happens. Nice.

Or why stay at pet? Call it Animal Kingdom and let it encompass talk about endagered species as well as zoos and your hairy cat buddy at home!

It can be a whole lot more than just that. We can talk about extinct species as well, u know dinosaurs & stuff. Hell, we can even talk about mythological creatures. The discussions can cover a lot of things.

Of course, of course Rika, the Pets Forum was your idea, I just added that it should be the Animal Kingdom (plz don't mind taking just a little, a tiny bit, a wee bit of credit ;)).

But ya, we should be backing the Forum idea, so Animal Kingdom it is. And hey gr8 ideas there ^^.

Maybe we can also have an Animal/creature of the week or something like that :).

Even if it's not a draw you should still totally do it because everyone would be all over it and love it and cuddle it.

Edit: cuz I'm bored at work here's what an animal forum could have.

Weekly animal spotlight
This would involve finding an animal that not many people know about and talking about it / sharing pictures and learning shit.

Donation Drives
Once every few months a donation drive happens. Someone could speed run a Pokémon game and all the money raised would go to an animal rescue charity.

Pet Pictures
People post pictures of their pets.

Animal Hunt
An animal is named and people go and find that and take pictures. Ideally if a new animal is posted a week (not too uncommon) people try and complete their collection by getting a photograph each week.

Bird watching
Try and snap a bird nobody else on the forum has before.

Training tips
Someone puts together training tips for various animals and it can be used as a resource etc.

Cats vs Dogs debate
Self explanatory.

Pet name rater

Animals in the media
One major news piece article to share cool stuff animals have done.

Pet discussion
Separate threads to discuss people's pets, one thread per animal imo. So like minded people can come together and discuss.

Fun debates
Chicken vs egg, what out speeds what etc

David Attenborough
A thread dedicated entirely to his series

Dinosaurs extinct
Discussion how it really happened etc

Animal movies
Maybe a thread per each new movie and one to discuss old ones like lion King etc. Maybe a spotlight once a month on an old movie. Could even organise a screening of it live so everyone can talk about it. The possibilities are literally endless.

The ethics of dog breeding etc
Whether it really is wrong or not

Zoo ethics
Same as above really. Is it ethical?

The smartest animal debate
Could be fun?

Then people could post help threads asking for advice on certain things like what fish to get, what to give their bird etc.
