In RS, you can get either the Root Fossil or the Claw Fossil from the northeasternmost part of the Desert. In Emerald, you can get them inside Mirage Tower.

Do you think that the Hoenn Fossils be in the same place as in RS or E, how about the other fossils, where can we find them ingame?

    Discuss!

Oh yes, the Fossils! I think each fossil should be exclusive to a specific game, that way it encourages either buying both versions or trading with friends in order to obtain both fossils.

Maybe they would add the Desert Underpass again to get not only the other fossil, but other region fossils as is the custom in the later games. I'm not hoping for a digging system like in Sinnoh, but at least an innovative way to find fossils of other games post-E4.

    Lol Phineas and Ferb

I think they'll be available at the Desert Underpass. Not sure of what kind of method to obtain them. Maybe Rock Smash again?

Keep them exclusive to each other and have some older fossils exclusive to each game, and then have one in the desert, desert underpass, and maybe a few others spread around Hoenn? Like (referencing to Expert Emerald) in EE, Omynite and Kabuto were on a small island just outside of Mossdeep, they were already revived but it might be better to have it like a fossil again and slightly "buried" under the sand?

I say no exclusive fossils. I would like them to do what they did in Emerald. I don't want them to make us trade for the other regional fossil. Of course we'll have to wait until we get the other fossil we didn't get like in Emerald...

Possibly keep them version-exclusive until post-game, and then they can create a little side quest that unlocks the ability to find the other fossil. I think that'd be a fun way to promote buying one version of the game and new tasks to complete!

The Desert was a good place for them to be. Can't think of anywhere that would fit them better, so that shouldn't change. I don't know about adding older/newer fossils though. At least not during the regular story-line.

I have a feeling they'll be exclusive at first, then the other one, along with other fossils, will be available post-game. Though BW/BW2/XY didn't let you find the other fossil, since Emerald did I have a feeling you'd obtain it through the Mirage Tower whereas the other ones might be given to you by someone (similar to how it was in BW/BW2) or can be found in a certain location via Rock Smash (similar to how it was in HGSS and XY). I can also see some, if not most the other fossils being exclusive as well, though it'd be nice if they were all available in ORAS.

It's tricky. It's a remake of Ruby & Sapphire, but with Emerald mixed in. I really think they'll be in the desert again. It would be a great chance to use that 3D! And then post-E4, you can get others scattered around the place. I'd be willing to bet that they add an area or two to Hoenn, after you beat the Elite Four.

Pokemon restored from fossils should have their Hidden Ability. You can breed these guys all day, but you only get one Fossil, so they should have their Hidden Ability, or at least a high chance.

I disagree. You can only get one fossil, sure, but then you can breed it as well. And if that was the case, why shouldn't the starter Pokémon also be DW from the beginning, just because you only get one?

I feel they will be in the desert again, ala RS or E (weird tower of sand that disappears forever was a bit weird but at least made more of a deal out of the fossils? And how do you know that pulling one out of the ground will make the other sink, honestly). I prefer that you could choose which one you get too rather than being forced into one or the other.

But you can't get the HAs from breeding, unless one parent already has it (and if it's the male, you have to breed with ditto).
I like the idea of the fossils having their HAs.

I also think both fossils will be in the desert again, where they were before. I don't like the idea of them being version exclusive though. You've had the choice between the two fossils in every game (I think?), why change that now?

I reckon they'll remake in Mirage Tower as well, as well as incorporate how both fossils are obtained. (the other one being available at Desert Underpass or whatever it's called after E4)

I know that. But there's other ways for them to make it available, such as the DW in 5th gen (which is where you could get the 3rd gen fossils with HA abilities - how I did so myself!), friend safari in X&Y, or something else as well (why not have HA ability Pokémon as prizes in the Battle Frontier, for example?). My point is that it hasn't been the case in other games and wouldn't really apply to other examples like the starter Pokémon, so hence I disagree that the fossil you pick in the desert should get a HA ability.

After all, they are hidden abilities - they are supposed to be rare. Why allow every player to get one during the main storyline and hence negate the point of it? Have it as a reward for beating the game and incentive to use post-game content and hence keep playing (and in the friend safari case, use the friend code feature as well).

    Good point.
It would be nice if they made the HA's available for fossils through a friend safari or something of the like for OR/AS.

It does make for nice incentive to use post-game content, I agree!

I see Emerald as the "true" or "fixed" storyline in the RSE trio, so I believe that if they have the option to do something the RS way or the Emerald one, I believe they'll use Emerald. So, Mirage Tower it is!

Considering that HG/SS had elements of Crystal in them, my guess is that Mirage Tower will make a comeback in OR/AS as the place where the Hoenn fossils are.

I kinda wished the fossils were of importance to progress to the storyline like Kanto and Kalos did. But I guess Mirage Tower would be a good place to place them haha x3
