I'm going to miss this show terribly when it's done. Thank goodness they pulled a LOTR and split the final season into two seasons.

Even an episode where not a lot happened still managed to be incredible.

I felt like there was a lot of fanservice, which I personally don't mind, but so many things were blatantly a nod to the audience and the internet, like Davos' "I thought you were still rowing" comment - can't believe they put an actual meme on Game of Thrones.

Like I said earlier, Dany has always been a polarizing character and this was the first time I disagreed with something she did - a lot of viewers scrutinize her actions and try to paint her as a villain, which I think is a huge double standard because the things she does are not any worse than any other leader on the show has done in the face of war, plus she has a merciful and empathic side that a lot of the other main characters don't show, but the episode's opening scene was the first time I felt like she did something that actually supported the "Dany will become the Mad Queen" idea. Really wasn't a fan of that decision and I hope that's not the direction her character is headed in - maybe it's just to give Tyrion a chance to prove he can do something, if he does what Varys tells him to.

It was out of character for her, even, the way she spoke to the survivors, but maybe she couldn't empathize with Lannister soldiers the same way she did for the slaves of Meereen because of her preconceived hatred towards Lannisters/her enemies in Westeros.

Really? I thought it was pretty bad. The Winterfell plot in particular is a mess (I'm not here for another season of contrived Stark sibling drama).

Did you miss the bombshell that Gilly dropped, or does that not do anything for you?

Eh. It felt way too convenient to me that Gilly just happened to stumble upon super important info in some dude's diary, and an annulment for Rhaegar and Elia doesn't make much sense considering their marriage had been consummated and they had two kids.

Also, that was only like five seconds of dialogue. There was still Dany's messy characterization, Jaime and Bronn somehow surviving, Tyrion's ridiculous KL scheme, the dumb love triangle and the awful Winterfell scenes. The only thing I really liked was Bran skinchanging all the ravens.

Yeah, it's kind of weird. Obviously there's nothing wrong with a couple of references but it feels like they're shoving them in to the dialogue and then winking at the camera.

This episode didn't have the epic action of episode four, but it was by no means bad. It was a necessary episode to move storylines and bring characters together, it set an entire new direction for the show and shows how the living are gonna come come together to fight the white walkers. The Winterfell arc is building up to something big imo that will happen in the next episode or the finale and Gilly dropped a huge bomb in relation to Jon. This was a set up episode for the amazing events to come next week, which, judging by the trailer, is gonna be something special.

I really enjoyed the episode, certainly a lot more than the previous setup episodes this season. I will agree that Davos' meme reference was a bit too ridiculous, although I was glad to see Gendry finally return. Gilly's discovery of the annulment was a bit too convenient as well, I would have preferred Howland Reed to be introduced and explain it.

Everything is kind of moving a bit quickly at the moment, but it's still really enjoyable.

Soooo... Episode 6 got released by accident in Spain. I got spoiled a plot twist AND IT'S A BIG PLOT TWIST. I didn't see it happening that episode.
