Hi there!

Might change my name to just Morally when it comes up. Or Morals. We'll see when it's there.

I don't have any cartilage in my left ankle and so any time I move it too much or put too much stress on it it locks up and the bones rub against each other and it hurts like all hell. Which meant I couldn't do too much running and so playing football and running track just dropped from my list of things I enjoy. They did some operation on it where they cut into it from both sides of my ankle and then drilled away at my bone to try and stimulate the cartilage into growing, which didn't end up working and I think it might even be worse now.

Bummer. I have a lot of ankle issues myself so I know what you're going through. Sprained both of them and ended up having to wear braces for the duration of my soccer career. Could braces work for you when it comes to running? It would keep your ankles locked and positioned, which could dwell the pain.

I tried an ankle brace before but it didn't really help much. Whenever I wasn't on the field I would have to literally try to pull my foot off of the rest of my leg in order to feel any relief. Pressure on the front of my ankle helped for short periods of time, at the expense of cutting off circulation in my left leg I was able to run without much worry but it was always short lived. For a brace to have helped at all I would have been going out onto the field looking like a really ghetto robocop.
