Ah. Well, as it turned out, it was mainly just my connection, acting up like usual.

I'm also running into another problem - flickering. When I right click something and highlight a command, the text flickers for a split second. This is actually very annoying, especially when I'm playing RuneScape with SwiftKit. In the corner, there's a game timer, and it flickers every second. I'll probably just have to get used to it, lol.

I figured the problem, and it's been patched instantly. Smooth sailing from here on out. :D

Yeah, I have a dev account. I don't really develop all that much but it is fun to have access to the newest releases and updates. (also the free copies of SL, SL server, Lion, and Lion server are also pretty cool too)
The multitouch absence is due to the lack of Bluetooth in my mac pro. I think I'll live without it and revise my user habits with my next computer upgrade.

I just installed Lion too, and asides from a few annoyances (such as not being able to remove the Launchpad from the Dock, no Aqua scrollbars, etc.), it's pretty cool.

I actually kind of like Launchpad, though I wish it was easier to map to my F4 key and replace Dashboard. Since I can get to dashboard easy via F3 (expose), it would help to remap F4 to Launchpad. I do admit that having launchpad makes the dock redundant now. perhaps in the final release or in the next version the dock will be removed entirely.
Also the gesture-oriented scrolling doesn't work as well with a regular mouse, so I switched back to regular scrolling. little known fact, you can now have different wallpapers for each space.

What's involved in making an account? Does it cost and are there any commitments? I don't think iOS dev work in the future would be a bad idea.

Steam never crashed when I used XP. I haven't downloaded it on 7 yet, so I can't say it might have anything to do with the operating system.

Speaking of 7, I get random disconnections from the Internet from time to time. It wasn't unheard of when I was using XP, but it happened far less. I don't think it has anything to do with bandwidth, as it hasn't happened in ages on XP. But maybe it is.

Also, do you guys think a Core2 Duo / HD5770 will be enough to run Battlefield BC2 and COD4 at 1280x1024? As long as I get smooth framerates, I don't care what it looks like. :P
Should be fine to play at 1080 if you really wanted.

Perhaps I could get some help.

I have a Dell Latitude D620, and I just got a new hard drive and 2 more GB of RAM giving me 4GB, so I installed Windows 7 64bit.

One problem is that although it's 64bit, it's only using 3.25GB of RAM max like a 32bit OS.
The second and most annoying problem is this:

I had been looking around the internet for Alps Touchpad drivers for windows 7 64bit, so I could have scrolling on my touchpad. After many searches I finally found the newest driver. Great, now I have scrolling! But what's this? I can't effing click or right click? The little Alps icon see's I'm clicking the touchpad buttons, but no response from Windows.
So I have to use my USB mouse to click now.

I need help with the mouse more than the RAM, but any solution is a good solution.

The missing RAM may simply be allocated to help the graphics, do you remember if you had the full 2GB you had in there before the upgrade?
Roll back the driver on the trackpad and try re-downloading/updating to see if it was simply a corrupted download, though make sure you are getting the driver from Dell or the trackpad manufacturer, not some random driver site on the net.

@Archer
The Apple dev programs are $99 a year USD, but it's for 1 section, you can either be Mac Dev or IOS Dev for the $99, You are able to be both, but you'd have to pay $99 for each program. I just went with the Mac Dev, since I'll be most likely getting the next IOS version when I get an iPhone after they update it. It'll be a year or more before I update my computer, so I want to stay current.

Dell doesn't have driver downloads for my laptop under Windows 7, just Vista 32bit

And yes, the full 2 GB were there.

Now I have another problem, on my old hard drive, I have the newest nvidia drivers installed, 179.48 BETA for my Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M. I go to install it with this laptop, and it says there's no hardware compatible with the driver. I have to use the older one that Windows Update has, it's no big issue, but still annoying as well. And I basically gave up on the touchpad, I uninstalled Alps andjust kept it as-is, no scrolling, but I can click!

I didn't know about the Spaces thing; that's pretty interesting. Launchpad is okay, I guess, but I usually use Finder for this sort of stuff (even more frequently nowadays, Spotlight). It also doesn't help at all that I have tons of stuff in my Utilities folder, as well as many nested folders within Utilities, so I don't know how well Launchpad would work with that. To be honest, I might actually use it if I could link it to folders other than Applications. It might find some use if I could link it to Downloads, but from my preliminary skimming, no dice.

I do like Safari's new fullscreen mode, and the iOS style scrollbars are not as much of an annoyance as I thought, but Apple really needs to add more customization options. I've also yet to test out my myriad of customization programs and do some of my own poking around the OS, so my opinion isn't fully yet formed. But as of yet, I think it's a fairly solid release so far.

Yo, got a quick question. I'm not really sure if i should put it here but oh well.

Anyone know what's going on here?

I think they screwed up the PHP options here. I think that file is supposed to be a background file to help manage the way the layouts are organized and whatnot; a glitch must have made it download.

Has anyone tried Firefox 4 yet? I'm using it right now and I really like it.

I tried it a couple of times. It's a bit faster than it's previous versions, buuuut I'll just stick with Google Chrome. ;)
I was contemplating getting Google Chrome again, but I found that Firefox became faster and a little more minimal, so I decided to stick with Firefox 4. n__n

I'm loving the firefox 4 RC, I hope there are minimal changes with the final build.

On an interesting note, if you're using firefox you can see that my png final is animated. I can say without a doubt that apng makes firefox the superior browser out on the internet today.

edit: if you do right click > view image it will give you a gif url. here's the url location of the img: https://imgkk.com/i/75j5.png
