Did you sign up on PC to RP or did you find the RPCorner later on?

I originally joined PC for the Trade Corner. Then one day I decided to browse some of the other parts of the forum, saw the RPC, and was like, the heck is RP? So, I went ahead and browsed it a bit, joined a couple of RPs... Then eventually started focusing completely on the RPC and upkeeping my gallery in Art & Design.

Like many others, I came here for the Hacks. Got quite into Mapping and Scripting then moved onto the RP Corner for something I enjoyed a bit more. Was in the hack section for a couple of months before moving on.

I wonder if it's generally many RPers who start off as hackers or if it's just reflecting PC as a whole xD

Wow, I love hearing about people who actually joined for the Roleplay Corner. It makes me proud of this place :')

I wonder what we could do to make it grow even more, or modernize it somehow, hmm...

I guess in a way they are similar, we're story tellers who prefer just using words (or can't quite get to grips with ASM, Hex Editing and the general magicalness of ROM hacking). WE ARE IDEAS PEOPLE.

we are the RIGHT BRAINERS YEAAAAAAAH go creativity!!!!! *fist pump* *interpretive dance* *creativity fireworks*

plz yes checks it out guys i love everyone <3

ooh, i have a topic that relates to the last one:

Why did you start roleplaying? Why do you still roleplay?

i know some people do it to help with their language, or just to make stories. :) why do you do it?

Did you sign-up to PC to roleplay/Why did you start roleplaying?

Yep, came for the hacks, myself. Ended up hacking for about a year or two, and then I left (though, ironically, I just recently got back into hacking for much the same reason I got into RPing). Though it was Roleplaying that brought me back. I had a short romp with RPing during my hacking days that ended terribly, I was too young at the time. I had fairly common new RPer problems: small SUs, generic names, predictable character templates, and because of all these things, a lack of motivation. I would be told (gently) that my character wasn't developed enough and the like (though the standards were lower at the time). I ended up giving up, for the time being.

Years later, halfway through my Junior year in High School, I realized that a lot of things about my writing were lacking, as was my storytelling. I'd just recently gotten serious about pursuing a career in game designing and was just overflowing with ideas. I liked the ideas themselves, but the writing was...lacking, to say the least. It wasn't bad, but it could have been much better, and I always felt that the characters that I created and the stories that held the story together didn't have enough personality and depth. That was largely because I just wrote what was in my head as it came, and there was no real preparatory thought to it. I didn't really have any outside experience with such creation, I just...wrote. But I always wanted more than just good ideas. I wanted to create characters that you could relate to and stories that gripped the player and made them think. I wanted layered stories and ideas that were tangible thanks only to words on a page.

So one day, practically out of nowhere, I decided that I would hone my skills, and that's when I remembered PC. I'm still surprised that the short time I "roleplayed" here even stuck in my head. I ended up coming back and joining the roleplayer formally known as PinkSapphire's Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Victory's Reign, and I've been here ever since.

Why did you start roleplaying? Why do you still roleplay?

I... have no idea. lol. Thinking back, I guess I just started roleplaying out of curiosity. I joined SV's Pokemon Odyssey first off; I remember debating between that and... I believe it was War Between Pokemon and Humans, the other big RP at the time. Though my memory might be messed up. I'm glad I chose the one I did for sure; it got me hooked on RPing for a long time afterwards.

I've taken so many leaves though. My interest in RP sort of keeps turning on and off. Hell I only recently came back, leaving again after the end of Odyssey 3. I dunno why I'm still RPing... like before, I think it was mainly a whim or just curiosity to check out some of the new RPs around.

Well, I just wanna create and experience a good, entertaining story with a bunch of total strangers a group of fellow writers, that's why I'm here I think. And as long as I can keep doing that, my interest in RP should remain intact. :3

I really love the creative element behind roleplays - I like giving interesting situations for players to engage with and see what comes of it.

Lately I have found it hard to keep up with actually roleplaying - I still love the section, and I have designed a few roleplays (both posted and unposted) but I don't have the time during the work months to actually keep up with stuff. Gilded Halls is pretty low maintenance and even then I'm only just keeping on top of it :(. Compared to other sections (except maybe RH and Game Dev) we have one of the places where the most commitment and time is needed to remain active and involved.

Yeah, the RPC is what made me stop disappearing from PC months at a time xD I just couldn't easily leave the roleplays I was in. Plus, it was a fun hobby rather than just randomly post in threads like in most of the rest of PC. Yeah, forum RPing is definitely what I'd call a hobby of mine.

I love writing but I get easily distracted and even bored when I try to write long stuff on my own. Writing together with others on a forum or in joint posts is much more rewarding somehow! I suppose that's why I keep doing it. Each RP is a new story and never the same as another. It never really stops being exciting.
... take it from someone who's been in so goddamn many journey RPs on this site xD

Hi, people! I used to come here pretty frequently a couple years back, and I'm glad to say I'm going to try and make a return! I wouldn't be surprised if only a few people remembered me, but that doesn't matter. I'm going to try and make a fresh start when it comes to roleplaying.

...I was a pretty terrible writer back then. Don't look, please.

Anyway, I've got ideas a-brewing since I want to GM an RP and I was wondering if anyone else would offer some critique?
The basic structure goes like so:

One day, you arrive home to find a parcel with a Mega Stone that matches one of your pokemon and a keystone (embedded within an accessory of the player's choice), plus a letter telling you to keep them safe.

The next morning, you wake up in a small room in the middle of a deep, thick forest with only a couple of your pokemon and a backpack stocked with supplies (and another letter).

Then you leave the room and work with other players to survive, explore and, ultimately, figure out how you got there. The Mega Stones will figure into the plot, but I'm thinking only after a certain point.
The letters are going to be pretty important, and part of a slightly more unique mechanic - all players receive the first two, but from that point on they are given out via PM at certain points to players at the GM's discretion, and will build towards the plot hopefully.

So how does that sound?

Welcome back! I remember you by your avatar, I think :3 But myself I might have been called Red's Hawt Chibi Pelippers or something when you were here last.

I think your idea sounds intriguing. It's something I'd like to join. No levels or journey business, but a good old mystery featuring pokémon and interaction. If you have twists and turns and story planned out, it sounds like something that could certainly work.

For future reference, we have a Planning & Review thread where people can get comments and advice on their plot ideas, layout, characters or otherwise workings of their RPs. That sort of stuff used to go in this thread, true, but it was split to allow for more in-depth analysis and help while this could be more general discussion and getting to know other regulars in the RPC.

Ah, yeah, that name rings a bell. Can't remember if we were ever in the same RP, though.

And re: planning thread - I feel kinda dumb now to have missed it, but it's nice to know for later. I guess I should go pitch it again over there?

If you want :3 It's easy for stuff like that to become buried here (or the other way around, that talk about a single RP takes over the thread).

Just kinda wanted to say, loving the new Roleplay Corner header.

Splash conversion has been a success~

They look glorious. Many thanks to Ashley (Endless) to HTMLing them for us and our very own Adventure picked out those lovely backgrounds ^_^.

(#highfive)

*moves planning thread and lets the library fade away* Giant RPC restructuring ahoy. Fasten yer seatbelts. Well okay I don't think there's much more to come so y'all can breathe now.

Hi peoples! I have an rp, but im needing some help. I don't have enough people to start(because the intro needs more than two people) and the people in my rp are complaining. I had two others, but i have not heard from them since i accepted them. Do you guys know anyone who would like to join a moemon rp? If so, please link them here: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=328063 If this bothers you guys, ill remove it. ~ a hopeless GM

Why did you start roleplaying? Why do you still roleplay?

I started roleplaying because one of my friends in real life got me into it. I continue RPing because It fills my needs for social interaction and I like a good story. I find some of the roleplays I'm in more interesting than some of the Video Games out now. :/

Did you sign up on PC to RP or did you find the RPCorner later on?

I joined to RP, because I heard this place was active. The other places I RP on were kind of getting slow. Then Summer came along, and the other RP sites I frequent where I'm more well-known picked up again, and now I'm not as active on here as I thought I would be. I haven't quite found my place in this community yet.

I remember that I joined PC purely for the RPC, and more specifically Pokemon Trainer Academy. I like the sandbox, design-your-own-plots nature of it. "Here's a great setting, go to town". It was exactly what I was looking for and I've stuck with it since. It's great to look back on this essentially endless RP and see just how far my character has developed as a person, as well as how far their Pokemon have come. Yellows done a great job with it, and I always wonder why it doesn't get more attention from some of the other established RPC veterans.

I've had dalliances with GMing here but they haven't quite worked out, which I think reflects on me as a GM more than the concepts or the players. I've realised I just don't have the time or the energy (I'm in poor health these days) to orchestrate my own RP, or dedicate myself to too many different RP's. So although there are so many wonderful RP's here I'd love to be a part of I'd rather give PTA my best than several RP's my mediocre.

How about you?

Have you realised you make a better Roleplayer than GM, or the other way around? How did you figure it out, and have you accepted it or tried to change it?

Why did you start roleplaying? Why do you still roleplay?

I started roleplaying becuse I was bored. I was at a slow time on a hack so I started surfing the webz, namely PC, and I saw RPC. I was an aspiring author (sorta) and I loved adventures, so, that is how I came to be. As for why I still roleplay, I, can't really answer that XD.

Now, for something off topic, where do u guys get your pics for appearance, ect. It bugs me how peeps find awesome pics, and I come up empty.

So that explains those beautiful new banners. Cool. :3 I'm liking the little redesign.
Got rid of the library again? I guess it's not easy to upkeep, lol.
