Did you sign-up to PC to roleplay/Why did you start roleplaying?
Yep, came for the hacks, myself. Ended up hacking for about a year or two, and then I left (though, ironically, I just recently got back into hacking for much the same reason I got into RPing). Though it was Roleplaying that brought me back. I had a short romp with RPing during my hacking days that ended terribly, I was too young at the time. I had fairly common new RPer problems: small SUs, generic names, predictable character templates, and because of all these things, a lack of motivation. I would be told (gently) that my character wasn't developed enough and the like (though the standards were lower at the time). I ended up giving up, for the time being.
Years later, halfway through my Junior year in High School, I realized that a lot of things about my writing were lacking, as was my storytelling. I'd just recently gotten serious about pursuing a career in game designing and was just overflowing with ideas. I liked the ideas themselves, but the writing was...lacking, to say the least. It wasn't bad, but it could have been much better, and I always felt that the characters that I created and the stories that held the story together didn't have enough personality and depth. That was largely because I just wrote what was in my head as it came, and there was no real preparatory thought to it. I didn't really have any outside experience with such creation, I just...wrote. But I always wanted more than just good ideas. I wanted to create characters that you could relate to and stories that gripped the player and made them think. I wanted layered stories and ideas that were tangible thanks only to words on a page.
So one day, practically out of nowhere, I decided that I would hone my skills, and that's when I remembered PC. I'm still surprised that the short time I "roleplayed" here even stuck in my head. I ended up coming back and joining the roleplayer formally known as PinkSapphire's
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Victory's Reign, and I've been here ever since.
