Full name: Ross Wilson
Age: 17
Appearance:
Ross Wilson stands at the rather average height of 5'8" and has a thin frame. His hair is a light blonde and is worn to the back of his neck. It covers most of his fore-head, which is relatively clear of any blemishes. The most interesting thing about Ross' face is his eyes, which are turquoise. Aside from that, his face is pretty plain. His nose is of an average size, and his teeth are straight (thanks to two and a half years of wearing braces). Ross' skin could best be described as peach-coloured.
The first thing someone would notice when looking at Ross' daily attire is how formal it is. Ross wears a black suit that's missing most of its buttons, a white shirt with an upturned collar that covers most of his neck, and a light, red tie. His pants are also black and are held up by a navy-coloured belt. All of this was handed down from his grandfather. A long with the suit, Ross also wears a red and blue necklace and a pair of black shoes.
History:
Ross' life was the epitome of boring. He grew up in a small, relatively quiet town in Toronto, Canada where nothing much ever happened. He lived with his mother and two younger sisters; his father had abandoned them when Ross was 8. But Ross didn't really care for him in the first place; his father was always too 'busy' with work to come home until late at night. Ross went to school and lived his normal life day by day. However, Ross' boring little life wasn't going to stay that way for much longer.
At the age of 15, Ross discovered something during an unusual situation. He discovered that he wasn't 'normal'. Ross had just seen some crappy movie with a small group of his friends. He was walking home when a single, unkempt man closed in on him. He originally thought nothing of the man, barely acknowledging his existence. But that changed the moment Ross was forced against a brick-wall. A single word came out of the mugger's mouth while a cold, steel object was held by Ross' head. "Money." With nothing else he could do, Ross complied with the man's demands. He slowly and carefully moved his hand into his pocket, pulling out the nearly empty wallet that sat inside. But before he was able to hand it to him, something weird happened. He stumbled and fell backwards into the wall.
The man completely lost his grip on Ross' shoulder, allowing Ross to completely fall backwards. The mugger looked around, trying to figure out where the boy had gone. But he could not be found. Ross saw him give up and run back into the dead streets. Sighing a silent sigh of relief, Ross tried to figure out why the man let go of him. He first looked around, making sure that the mugger wouldn't be returning. Then he looked down and noticed something... strange. His body was completely black! His hands, his clothes, his hair, his everything! Ross screamed in total silence, before falling onto the hard cement in front of him.
Once he had worked up the courage to look at himself again, Ross saw that his colour had returned. He looked around, noticing nothing different about the outside world. Did he trip and dream all of that? Ross returned home, shaken and confused by what had just occurred. He didn't tell anybody about the mugging. He still hasn't. When he woke up in the morning, Ross attempted to recreate the incident. He pushed his back against a wall and waited. Sighing out of relief (and disappointment), Ross pushed his hands against the wall. However, he once again tumbled backwards. Into the wall. He looked down at himself and surely enough, he was completely black and unable to speak.
Roughly a year and a half after this incident, Ross received a golden envelope from some prestigious school in the United Kingdom. At first, he figured that it must've been sent to the wrong address. But as he took a longer look at the letter, he saw his name printed in black ink...
Ability name: Shadow Play
Explanation: Ross has the ability to turn into a shadow. This allows him to move in complete silence on walls, roofs and other surfaces. Whilst in this form, Ross is much harder to hurt, due to it being rather hard to punch a shadow. But he is not invincible.
Limitations:
• Ross needs to have his hands pressing against a shadow for his power to work (He can't use his own shadow for this).
• Shining light (e.g light from a torch) directly onto him whilst in his shadow form will injure Ross, with prolonged exposure leaving him with some (possibly major) burns. Eventually, it'll force him out of this form.
• Is unable to speak whilst in this form.
• Due to a lack of control/focus, Ross can't stay in his shadow form for too long (30 seconds to 1 minute).
• Total darkness and areas that have absolutely no shadows (e.g an open field, a desert) make his ability worthless.
