Chapter 4 - Something's about this is Bugging me...

Doctor Rules:
Spoiler:

We've become THE Doctor now, as we transcend time and space to go back to... Johto? AGAIN? What is it with this place!

We start off once more buying whatever medical supplies we can get in Violet City. We don't have a lot to work with, so had to spend $2100 of our $2500 to stock up. With that aside, it was time for the marathon that is the trip to Azalea Town.

Not too much happened here, Furret and Totodile between them were used to dispatch of the Trainers on the way to the cave, before we caught BOG WITCH the Wooper. And in such a convenient location too, BOG WITCH got a lot of levels pummelling Geodudes and Onixes to death, whilst we traversed through the cave and into Azalea Town.

One trip down the well after a crazy old man later, and it was Gym time. This was a cakewalk for BOG WITCH up until Bugsy, where I played it safe and lead with Croconaw instead. Still mostly a cakewalk however, thankfully we hit Scyther pretty hard with built up Rages and got our Hive Badge!

I did not get a screenshot because I forgot to upload it and then copied something else, oops.

And with that, our segment ends! Stats for the segment:

Trainers defeated this segment: 21 (Youngster Albert, Picnicker Liz, Camper Roland, Youngster Gordon, Fisher Ralph, Fisher Henry, Fisher Colin, Bird Keeper Peter, Hiker Daniel, Hiker Russell, Firebreather Bill, Pokémaniac Larry, Firebreather Ray, Hiker Anthony, Rocket Grunt x 4, Twins Amy & May (counts as 2), Bug Catcher Al, Bug Catcher Josh, Bug Catcher Benny, Gym Leader Bugsy)
Badges: 3 (Zephyr, Knuckle, Plain, Hive)
Points earned: 11 (Spent over 75%, battled Trainers and didn't have any Pokémon faint). This is now my last set of points I can get, so I have all 33 earned.

Next Person - ??? (Will add when)

Chose Torchic as my starter for my wishlist, and also a little rarer of a color incase Janp plays on the file. Green and Blue are more common than Red, especially in the early game, in Hoenn.
I caught all the banned mons, so that they're there are when any fellow magma member might want to use them.
Shroomish died like immediately but then I just persisted with Combusken's Double Kick until I won.
All the Pokemon have McDonalds Menu item nicknames, and i want that to continue... (Except Makuhita, but we ignore him, he is a loser)

Spoiler: Team

Team: Aqua
Class: Psychic
Restriction: Must have 2 Ghost or Psychic type pokémon in your party at all times.
Save: Explorer of Time's X file
Segment: 2/13 Santalune City -> Cyllage City

This took forever. Having never played the Gen6 games before I didn't think it would take quite so long with so many detours this early in the game. Having to catch so many specific pokemon didn't help the time either.
I also activated my task! By switching into Durandal the Honedge on a stomp from Tyrunt.

Here's the team:
Spoiler:

I left several trainers open and items uncollected!

So I've finished my first segment but have run into a road block of being computer illiterate and I can't figure out how to find/get my save file from citra. I've read the instructions but I don't get it and feel silly. I mostly just see my file folder with a 3DS file inside.

Nevermind thanks to some people I think we're gooood

Janp's Baton Pass Challenge - Segment 2

For my 2nd segment, I got Devalue's Crystal save.

Right from the start, I had to box 3 Rattata, because of my colour rule. I kept Quilava, Geodude and an Egg on my team and decided to head out to Ilex Forest. But I was surprised by the Rival battle (I usually do it before challenging Bugsy), but I managed to easily sweep the whole team with Quilava.

I noticed Geodude was a little bit underleveled, so I put it in front and cleared the Ilex Forest and the next Route with it. I also had to get something for Cut. At first, I thought Venonat can learn it and was quite surprised when it couldn't. So I had to catch Oddish for the matter.

Anyway, I quickly made it to Goldenrod City and challenged Whitney. I started with Geodude, but switched to Venonat, Togepi and Oddish, when Miltank's Rollout got to the 4th and 5th phase. After that, I ended the battle with magnificent magnitude 10.

First segment
tenthcompanion's Omega Ruby save file

Despite permadeath, this segment was still very easy since we're early game. I chose torchic as my starter and moved through the early routes. Caught a wingull and seedot for Roxanne's rock types but then remembered that seedot absolutely sucks and found shroomish in petalburg woods instead. Boxed everyone except my lv. 14 shroomish and lv.12 wingull and beat Roxanne easily by spamming mega drain. No items in battle, no over leveling, and no more pokemon than the gym leader. 8 points huzzah!

Janp's Baton Pass Challenge - Segment 3

For my 3rd segment, I got Mewtwolover's Ruby save.

And again, I had to do some boxxing. I put Numel there and kept the team of Hariyama, Grovyle, Swellow and Koffing and HM slave Makuhita.

After checking what Pokémon can learn weather-changing moves, I found out that I still can't fulfill my Task.

So I just quickly got to Norman and made a quick process of him using Hariyama. I had to switch to Grovyle and Swellow to heal on Vigoroth, but it was Hariyama, who dealt with Norman's whole team.

Another challenge update, this time I played the segment leading up to Wattson in the Sapphire savefile started by LeGoldenWolf.

I just decided to level up a Geodude all the way to Graveler and have it solo Wattson, but really, it didn't go that way. Between SonicBoom dealing consistent 20 HP damage and confusion / paralysis everywhere, I actually had my team in very rough shape by the end of the battle. But Combusken helped out against most of the leader's Pokémon and Graveler got a much needed Selfdestruct KO on Magneton, no less, after a few turns of doing some chip damage. Nice :)

Mewtwolover volunteered to keep playing after me! This time, the savefile is over on Discord.

Double post aaaaaaa

I just completed a segment on Mewtwolover's Ruby savefile too. I took some time to do this and waited until I could have someone to pass the savefile to (in this case, Janp), but I managed to build a decent, strong - if not a bit unbalanced - Pokémon team. We have Hariyama, Camerupt, Weezing (I wonder why) and Magneton, plus a few little friends for the next players to use.

Most battles were beaten with brute force, thanks to the level advantage I found myself working with. But for Winona, I had also a proper answer, Magneton, to sweep most of her team. Of course, I left Altaria at the mercy of Weezing, whose evolution gave it the necessary power to KO with a Sludge + Selfdestruct combo. And that's 5 more task points bb

The savefile, once again, was shared on Discord.

Team: Magma
Class: Ruin Maniac
Restriction: Only catch things in caves (plus gifts)
Segment: 5/13
Save: Devalue's Crystal file
Objective: Badge 4

Returns back to this file. Took advantage of Crystal knowledge to start completing the task. Collected some evolution stones through phone calls. Evolved Janp's Cut Oddish into Vileplume, the Odd Egg Pichu into Raichu, and Bill's Eevee into Vaporeon.

Pitted them against the gym. Beat the first Gastly with Raichu (Picchu). Used Sleep Powder and...Acid(?) against a Haunter for Blue's (Vileplume) contribution. Switched to Titantic (Vaporeon) for most or all of the rest. Earns 15 task points for that (5 points x 3 stone evolutions).

(Note: Changed Blue's color to Red by evolving. Did not rename it, though.)

Segment 2
Eleanor's White 2 Save

Nothing too crazy happened here. Caught a few pokemon. Avoided a trainer with a rollout using Dunsparce (just in case...) on the way to Virbank City. The Patrats in Virbank Complex were actually a little scary a couple times because of the possible damage output from bide. But with a newly evolved Pignite and a Magnemite, Roxie didn't stand a chance. (Actually, Pignite didn't even do anything because Whirlipede kept using pursuit and I was too scared to switch out and get Magnemite killed but hey it worked out.) Once again I only used two pokemon and didn't over level or use items in battle so moar points wheee!

Janp's Baton Pass Challenge - Segment 4

For my next segment, I got Mewtwolover's Ruby save again.

And again, I started it by switching up my team to fit my restriction of having Pokémon of different colour. Good thing is I now have an access to Castform, so I can finally do my task.

Since most of my team was underleveled, I had to grind on Team Magma's Grunts and Tabitha. Not a big deal, I mostly used Tentacool to take care of them.

Then, after being free to surf, I got to Mossdeep City and started grinding in the area. I left some trainers for the next contender tho. Don't want to take all the fun from my teammates.

I grinded all the way to level 40 and went to the Gym. But before the fight with Tate and Liza, let's talk about changes on the team. Grovyle got a cool new nickname and evolved into Sceptile. Tentacool got a cool new nickname and evolved into Tentacruel. Castform got a new nickname and Weather Ball.

And with that, I challenged Tate and Liza. I started with Tentacruel and Castform. My plan was to cancel Solrock's Sunny Day with Rain Dance, but my Castform was faster. So I had to use Rain Dance twice. Tentacruel used the boost from rainy weather to hit both Solrock and Lunatone with Surf, while Castform used boosted Weather Ball. And while I took out Lunatone, Solrock survived and finished Tentacruel off with Psychic. So I sent out Sceptile and finished the fight 2v1.

And then did everything again, because I forgot to save. But this time, I landed a crit on Solrock and managed to change weather on the very first turn.

:hariyama: :sceptile: :weezing: :tentacruel: :camerupt: :castform:

And following on the update right above, I also beat Wallace on that same save file!

I made a few changes to the team because of my rule, picking up a Tropius for Sceptile (although it was ultimately relegated to a HM slave role) and a Walrein for Tentacruel. Hopefully it's useful against Drake :) Also, the Magneton I had used previously came back against Castform because that's what we do when there's too much water around >:) Electric type is so busted in game...

ANYWAYS. Even if this was one of the biggest segments of the game in terms of boss battles and such, I have to say that with the level advantage I had already inherited (thanks Janp!) I had no truly dangerous fights. The only thing that could've been an issue was Wallace himself, actually... The start was easy. I lead with Magneton, KO Luvdisc, bait Whiscash and switch Weezing in thanks to Levitate.
Then BOOM.
Whiscash down thanks to the upgraded Explosion (why am I so excited about using Explosion idk) and tempo reset, so Magneton could easily get in for free despite the SET battle style. Seaking and Sealeo went down with a Spark each, but of course it was Milotic who was going to give me trouble, surviving three sparks and defeating my slightly weakened Magneton (and Tropius too, but that was my bad for forgetting about Ice Beam). Hariyama was dealing pitiful damage, but then I decided to risk the Belly Drum and since Milotic decided to heal that turn instead of damaging my Pokémon, I got to win the fight next turn. Whoever decided to give Hariyama that move, nice job ♥♥♥

Btw I did lots of exploring, got some cool TMs, visited Pacificlog, the abandoned ship and so on. I like to do that too to an extent, I guess :) I'll now pass this save file (on Discord) to the person who started it, Mewtwolover - good luck with the League! o7

Save: CoolKid575's Crystal save
Segment: 3/13 Goldenrod City -> Ecruteak City

This segment was basically instant compared to X! I inherited a pretty cool team. In the box was MOVIETHREE the unown. Along with them I caught PROF X the Abra in route 34. Travelling to Ecruteak I caught the Sudowoodo and named her BIG BESS. This team stomped the rival and I accidentally completed my task by swapping in BOG WITCH the quagsire to face a thundershock from the rival's magnemite!
After leaving the tower we headed straight to the gym and defeated Morty for the 4th badge of the save!

I barely did anything on this segment, there's plenty of trainers to battle (Kimono girls for example) and items to collect.

Chapter 5 - It's something catastrophic, catatonic, meteoric...

Doctor Rules:
Spoiler:

Did somebody call for a Doctor? No? Tough, you're getting one anyway because I'mmmmm baaaaaack... in Hoenn! Whackos have gone big and stolen a meteorite of all blazing things and as a result, EVERYTHING was starting to heat up and I needed to get it cooled down ASAP.

After our last journey, I had ran out of supplies, so stocked up on some Super Potions for a nice round $7,700. After that, we started our Trainer Armageddon. Trainers fell left, right and centre (including the blasted Winstrates) as I toured ALL the routes, before ending up at Meteor Falls and hearing about the grand theft.

It was then a quick rendezvous with our good chum Maxie at the top of Mt. Chimney, where I set him on the right path (I think), before being accosted by Team Aqua. My consolation prize for all this stress, was none other than a lovely shiny Meteorite that they just... left there...

After that, it was a short trip down the Jagged Path and then a quick detour to Lavaridge Town, to put out the fire that is Flannery.

One very quick Gym sweep (thanks Marshtomp) later, and we're awarded with one (1) Heat Badge!

Segment 3
tenthcompanion's OR save

This segment had a couple of hiccups. I decided to box my lv.21 Combusken because I wanted to use him for Wattson and I didn't want him to level over the current cap. However, this caused me to accidentally lose my Wingull since I didn't have a good counter to a trainer's Aron 😬During the rival fight I also lost my Taillow who got effect spored and unlucky. I wasn't worried though since there is already another Taillow on the team. There was a psychic trainer who had an Abra that used nature power on my Geodude and brought him to 2hp but everything is fiiiine. Wattson was fairly easy because I brought Combusken and Geodude (and also Kadabra) and the type advantages really helped here. I earned another 8 points for the pokemon limit/level cap/no items in battle (y)

Save Swap Challenge - Magma Grunt Soleil
Pokemon X - Badge 3
Segment 3 (Route 10 -> Shalour Gym)

I went back and fought all the trainers JB missed, and found all the items for everyone, while leveling my team up to match the new areas' trainer levels. I kept Mob the Ralts and evolved him into a Gardevoir, kept Braixen, Carl the Charmeleon, and Durandal the Honedge, and caught a Houndoom and Roselia to round out my team. This let me settle into my typical (for a non-monotype) approach of taking three Pokemon of a "core" type, then picking another three to counter the types that counter my core type, though in this case I kept Honedge since I already have one partially-trained and it'll be extremely good against Diantha very late in the game, even though it makes my team weaker to Ground than I would normally like. (If I was allowed to use Water-types, I'd have swapped it for Gyarados.)

Korrina's Lucario battle was trivial since her Lucario duo couldn't even hit my Honedge. Her gym battle wasn't much better; I used an X Sp. Atk on Gardevoir since he couldn't move anyway because of Fake Out, set Sunny Day, and 1HKOed Korrina's entire team with Confusion. Gardevoir took exactly 2 points of damage from Mienfoo's quadruple-resisted Power-Up Punch after the Fake Out, and Hawlucha wasted its only move on Hone Claws. Machoke did nothing but get outsped and 1HKOed.

Calem's battle was a little harder, but not by much. Houndoom 2HKOed Meowstic with Bite. I switched to Roselia, and Frogadier immediately poisoned itself from Poison Point by using Quick Attack. Roselia survived another one and 1HKOed with Venoshock. Calem sent out his Absol as his last Pokemon, and Roselia used Giga Drain to heal, but went down to the red from Bite. Poison Point activated again and Roselia won the match with a Venoshock.
