Has Another Forum Ever Been WAY too strict

I would say: Serebii.

1. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too strict.
2. Boring, no Pokemon Hacking Section
3. Dumb Mods and Admins always infract other people for almost for no
reason.

That's how I hate Serebii. The best forum for discussing Pokemon is
Pokecommunity.

The rules aren't that strict, and it's da best!!!

I've already mentioned this but let me clarify my views on Serebii...
I've always thought Serebii forums has been way too strict. I understand the need for such rules and all but because of all the idiots, anything fun is pretty much banned at Serebii.

That's just my humble opinion. I find PC's rules to be a lot more no-nonsense and well written than Serebii's rules are. (Seriously, they just slap on a new rule every time someone they dont like gets off on a tecnicality)

Yeah, PC is being pretty strict. Every controversial thread that gets into a heated discussion gets locked, but not before a mod gets to voice his angry opinion. Oh, and some of the members are being pretty strict on people who differ in opinions.

*waits for negative rep for having a "bad" opinion*

Yeah, it kinda annoys me when I see a good debate get closed...but I understand why, the mods who do that are just trying to avoid war. And it works.

I've joined about three forums, including PC, and they all are/were pretty strict. But not in a real bad way.

Ugh...
I remember how strict Pokemon Epiphany was T_T
(don't kill me AJ)

Am i the only one who finds serebiiforums fine except for the fact that no 5th gen adn gs remake threads can happen? And bulbapedia forums is oik that is if your not a weedle mchairybug. Anyway none what so ever. PC meh i can live with it i mean its like my second home and if the rules of the house are so and so ill follow em. Unless theres the retard of the family who needs a good flame.

I've only ever been to one other forum and there wasn't any rules..XD; It was a roleplaying forum I found before PC and it was horrible. It was fun, but man, we ruined that place in the end. I think we all ended up crossing universes from our little RP's universe and all died by some sort of T.V. show ending.

lol strict?

I think I got off with so much, it was unbearable.
And besides, so many rules were taken away at the end there was not much point of complaining about them, as they would be put straight back in and enforced, weirdly.

2. Boring, no Pokemon Hacking Section
lmao

Anyway, sPPf is very strict. Why else do you think I stayed here at PC? Also, appearantly they are strict with images for avatars and sigs because they have a very sucky server, unlike PC.

Actually our server is top of the range. Unlike PC however, we have tremendous load on both of the servers and thats the problem

PC and Serebii. Espcially Serebii, unlike PC, which I hope this won't happen, Serebii, has strict rules,no trade corner, and no custom avatars except for staff which really pisses me off. PC is starting to get stirct in a way.

Like Tyler said, we had a trade corner, but due to the vast amount of users we have, it was a mess and couldn't be moderated. Our new method is much more efficient for both modding and trading

Serebii because Serebii won't let regular members have avatars that are custom made. Plus on Serebii you can't have name changes, and the max size for sigs is 200x200? WTF!?

If I get given the money for more servers to allow all our members Custom Avatars, I'd do it. Already I pay over $1,000 a month for these servers...top of the range afterall. The max size for sigs is NOT 200x200. Max size for each image is 200x200 (50 leeway). Most people use it in a nice way to get a decent sized banner in their sig

Actually, we allow discussion of those. Just in set threads that way those forums dont become a mess with them.

We never "slap a new rule on" and lots of fun is allowed. Its just organised and not chaotic.

1. Opinion
2. Hacks utilise illegal copies of games and therefore should not be supported
3. That never happens

Parts of this thread has made me lose faith in humanity on a whole new level.
[PokeCommunity.com] Has Another Forum Ever Been WAY too strict

I've never been a member of a strict forum, most of the time I never do anything that would count as rulebreaking; any forum that has ridiculous and unreasonable rules and/or staff wouldn't last long and wouldn't get a decent number of active members.
If I ever joined a forum like that I would just leave, simple.

One Word:

"Serebii"

Not many could agree with me, but years ago I wasn't too satisfactory for the mods. I tried again a few months ago and the place was all boring and very tight on the rules.
Yeah, Serebii's kinda strict and annoying.

There's never anything good there anymore. It's like FF.net - overrun by idiot newbies who don't know the difference between a conundrum and a condom.

(Hopefully I don't get infracted for saying that XD)

The one person I really loved on there, though, was RaZoR LeAf. He reminded me of American Idol's Simon Cowell. He stuck it to ya - didn't hold anything back. You broke the rules for a stupid reason, he reprimanded you. It always made me feel good talking to him. Like he was a parent or something. I looked up to him a lot.

Like when I talked to him and he agreed with me or understood me, I'd feel really good about myself. It made me happy to please him. So yeah. I wish I could be that straightforward, but unfortunately, I'm too nice =]

When people push things, though, or are really annoying or breaking the rules for no reason, I get angry. Then I don't hold anything back.

I've never been banned before on any forum. I go right to the Rules section and read it, and I'm a grammar and spelling Nazi so yeah xP I get so peeved when someone uses 'to' as 'too', etc. I just don't see how you can mix them up.

I'm always jealous of the mods' power. So usually I just lay low and be a good little girl. I need to find a just-starting-out vBulletin forum where I can volunteer for mod, and then next thing you know it gets super-popular and I'm a respected, 'don't-make-her-angry' mod. That would be cool xP

I should join a vBulletin Twilight forum. It'd be popular in ten minutes xP

Anyway, I should stop my ranting. I often get off on the strangest of topics.

At least here we have the ability to have custom avatars. :\.
Yes, I do enjoy that and hope they never change it =]

EDIT: Cool. I got a reputation comment for the conundrum/condom thing. I thought of that all by myself :D

I have like 4 that I've never even seen before. People like me! Yay!

On the other forums I've been on, I've always been baffled by the dutifulness with which some members point out those breaches of conduct that don't bother anyone besides those who are annoyed by it simply because it is at variance with what is ingrained in their mind as proper forum conduct. For example, making two usernames, not to fool anyone, but because a computer situation might have necessitated it.

On other forums, some people seem annoyed that some topics get a large number of posts, and might say things like "There's already a thread on this, can this discussion just be over" - and usually the discussion is the most riveting thing on the forum and really deserves a thread of its own. It almost seems as if they don't want discussion, despite that they are on an internet forum.

Overall, I've found that if a forum is strict, the conversation is inane.

Has a forum been too strict, like making infractions for people who say "thanks" without a warning or posting things only semi-important?
It's kind of hard to break the rules nowadays here that they're so clearly printed out for every member and the infraction system is so much clearer.

Does anyone else find it funny that Serebii just randomly arrives here and starts defending sPPf?

That's just his way of not taking opinions well. .

Oh, there's a site that's really stupid, though I wouldn't say 'strict' per say, they have a lot of restrictions. Mew's Hangout.

Haha, I know what you mean.

Just look at this rule:

NEW!!! The most important rule:
If you are over 16 years old, you may not post more than 10 times a week. If you break this rule you will be permanently banned.

It's the first rule too :/

Anyone ever hear of a Twilight Forum known as Twimoms? Yeah, say one even slightly negative thing about Twilight, and you are banned. If you want to stay there, you have to think like an obsessed fan. (Which I am not)

I doubt they ban you if you say anything "slightly negative", but if you're on a Twilight forum to bash it then you're just trolling, and probably deserve to be banned. =x

Where's that rule from? =|
