Have you ever ghosted someone?

I've ghosted a lot of people that I've never physically met. At a certain point, I go "what's the point?" and disengage from them. That usually happens when I realize how boring someone actually is. Of course I've been ghosted as well, but who hasn't in this day and age? It's just the way things are nowadays, in the digital age.

I find that ghosting is oftentimes preceded by a period of both people drifting away from each other. When 2 people start talking less and less, I think it's only natural that one of them disengages completely if they don't see each other on a regular basis.

No, I just tell people nicely if I don't wanna talk, because I've been ghosted so many times and it's horrible. Communication is important.

Not in this sense but I once ghosted someone in a Pokemon Battle(NOT A SERIOUS ONE)

Yes, a lot probably.
I don't know exactly why though.

I ghost people all the time and it's one of my worst habits

This guy on Youtube (of all places) I got in contact with, ended up being the nicest person I'd ever met. We messaged back and forth for years, and I ghosted him all the time. I have reason to believe he's passed away, he taught me so much and I'd like to tell him sorry for being so lazy with responding.

There's still messages on my phone I haven't responded to, but I'll get back to them tonight because of this topic.

I've done it to friends that end up having questionable beliefs or opinions or show certain behaviors that render them insufferable. Only, like, once or twice though.

I didn't know UB defined it specifically in the realm of dating. I haven't ghosted anyone I was dating nor have I been ghosted by someone I was dating.

However, I have ghosted a friend of mine. It was pretty awful. All along, I knew it was me being super immature about my disdain for this person. I should have simply told them the truth about how I felt. But I knew enough about their personality that they wouldn't handle it maturely either, and I'd be stuck in this conversation where he tries to convince me I'm wrong and I try to convince him I'm right. I opted to ignore that conversation altogether and ghost him. Since then, we speak occasionally. The friendship is not nearly the same. Which is interesting, because it brings a level of naked truth to it. I don't know how our relationship will pan out going forward.

I'm also being ghosted by someone who I considered to be a fairly close friend. Had known him since early days in high school. We kinda lost touch after moving across the Atlantic, but he would still make an effort to reach out if ever he visited. He ghosted me completely after he came for his most recent visit. I have a hunch as to why, but only he knows for sure.

I didn't know there was a word for it but yeah, definitely did that to my first boyfriend when I was like 14. I feel really bad about it now but at the time I didn't know how to tell him I wanted to break up so I just started ignoring him and avoiding him at school and hoping he got the point. :| He caught on pretty quickly and asked if I wanted to break up, and it slowly became this whole other ugly thing, but in short it all started with the ghosting.

That top entry is pretty spot on though, it was definitely my lack of communication skills and immaturity, and I was definitely thinking more about myself than his feelings.

ive ghosted people I was just talking to. If I'm seeing someone I'm upfront with them

When I stopped using Skype I just magically disappeared from there completely without saying a word so I guess I've ghosted.
But since ghosting seems to be especially about dating, I can't say I've done it.

When I was 16, my friend tried to hook me up with some girl he knew at school. I really wasn't interested, but I decided to humor them and met up with her one night. I'm pretty good at reading people sometimes, and I could tell that after talking for about 15 minutes that we had no chemistry whatsoever. I kept talking to her anyway even though I had no interest. By the end of the night, to my surprise, she actually gave me her number without asking for it. Needless to say, I didn't call her. But like a week or so later, she actually had my friend ask me what my deal was. I though she would have gotten the hint, but no. :/

That was actually the last experience I had even remotely close to dating, it just doesn't seem appealing to me at all. :/
