Let's think. If the physical/special split never happened, what's some Pokemon that would get better or worse. One I can think of is Scrafty getting worse since dark would be special and Scrafty's special attack sucks.

Factual. Also, it would greatly hurt its coverage so it would probably have to run DD/Close Combat/Poison Jab/Stone Edge perhaps. Bulk Up would be viable too but it has to be BU/Rest/Drain Punch/something.

Another mon that would hate this change is Azumarill, cannot use Belly Drum at all because it cannot use Aqua Jet nor Liquidation.

moved this over to gaming central, since this split really only affects the games!

banette would've been as good as it was initially. i trained it in rse and it has a good attack stat of 115, and back then ghost moves were all physical. so shadow ball hit very hard! then it became special, so it wasn't as good for it anymore. :catsad:

Pretty much all Ghost types would...probably not be very good? Since Ghost was a physical type before the physical special split. I can't see Ghost really benefiting from that.

Ugh...my physical dark type boys would have no dark moves to do at least a decent amount of damage (Bisharp, Krookodile, Malamar, Mightyena, Absol [my first was a girl], etc.)

Gyarados would most likely not have been OU from Gen IV onward - I feel like the split allowing it to use its STAB moves was the only reason it didn't fall by the wayside as more powerful Pokémon were introduced. Torterra wouldn't be as potent either - it would have access to EdgeQuake still, but physical Grass STAB was still a reasonable rarity that helped set it apart.
