I used to use alarm from my phone, and it worked greatly that I wake up most of the time, especially when I was sleeping quite late past midnight.
But if you don't like it or can't drink caffeine, try eating an apple. An apple in the morning will give you as much or even more energy than a cup of coffee. :3
It gives much more energy for metabolizing, but it can't give the same stimulation coffee, or any form of caffeine, does to the body.
My energy comes natural. If you get plenty of sleep for your body on a nightly basis like me, you wouldn't need synthetic effects to keep you awake/energized. :3
