Items you never use

I never use items. Not besides your typical Pokéballs, Potions, and Repels. I just like to hoard stuff! There's something satisfying about having one of everything in a game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I never bother or seldom using X-items, what's the point if you have like sword dance than use X-attack on your mons as stats boosting moves are far efficient and worry less about how much time you used those X-items, another thing is berries like I said only sitrus and lum is mostly used, often super-effective reducing berries because it life saver sometimes when opponent tries to counter.

I personally barely use items - healing items included - like, most often I'll only use healing items in the Elite 4 because you can't heal in the Pokecenter between battles.

Occasionally I'll use something like Leftovers or maybe some other vaguely competitive held item, but for the most part I don't really use anything.

The major exception is when I want to be cheap in the E4 in Gen 1: X-Speed + X-Accuracy and just Fissure everything to destroy the champion.

Usually you use X-Items (if you do use them) when you don't have stat boosting moves (or at least of that particular stat) or when you need the boost before you time to move. A common use of X-Items is usually something like X-Accuracies or X-Speeds since status moves to raise those are less common.

Well, technically an X-Defense is like having a maximum priority Iron Defense, except you don't even need a move slot, and you can even boost the stat of a Pokémon that can't learn the equivalent move otherwise.

So it's not like they're pointless, they're actually so broken that using them feels cheap as hell and unsportive, and it can easily trivialize the already little challenge most Pokémon games offer. You can have a Pokémon with four direct damaging moves, then use an X item on it and it would be effectively the same as said Pokémon having five or more moves.

The only situation in which I would personally use X items is when catching certain annoying legendaries, to help my team resist their attacks while I'm throwing dozens of Balls. But in trainer battles it's outright unfair, honestly it made more sense when they gave a +1 boost.

I know they're not pointless and do need if so happens in some scenarios such as legendaries and tough gyms. There are OK X-items thru out the game providing a good solution and avoid adding a non-damaginig moves to a pokemon movepool. We eventually get money by battling and would rather spend cash on x-items or just use like sword dance for example and rather save your money for HP items instead

Status healers that isn't the Full Heal or regional food variations of it, and uhh Escape Ropes lol. I usually prefer to just get out of the cave manually, or not revisit caves at all :p
