Hello, welcome to Juno's gaming journal! If you are on mobile, come back on a desktop because this probably looks awful!
I'm not doing the gaming challenges or really all that concerned with finishing games, I just kind of wanted to make a cute thread logging my adventures. It's partially because I play a lot of games with no real ending (I love survival/sim games - my first log is probably going to be on our Minecraft SMP server. Which we did beat the Ender Dragon on already, so I guess technically that's one game down, go me). But if I'm being honest, I really am just bad at finishing games, lol.
I know the point of these journals is to keep us on track and actually beat games but hey, it's about the journey, not the destination or something, right ✨
The background image here is a modified version of this.

I am not using max-width on purpose because mobile scaling/responsiveness sucks on this site and really messes with my positioning values - regular width does not do that though, so I would rather it scroll sideways on phones than have the content spill out of the scrollboxes
yes, I felt the need to make a whole section explaining this

The Rise of Junopolis
(Foreward)
CTRL-click to enlarge
This is a small Minecraft Vanilla SMP realm! We have actually had this realm since early November, so I am writing a lot of this from memory, and going through our Discord for screenshots and chats about server plans, etc. There's going to be a lot of gaps because of this, but I plan to keep writing and logging future stuff as well, and I wanted to start from the very beginning to actually show the progress we've made! Plus all the exciting stuff is over anyway, future logs will literally just be building and renovating the village lol
I should also note at no point did we decide this place is officially called Junopolis, but the others are not here to contest that. Retrieve your PC passwords if you want to protest
Now, without further ado, use the links on the left for chapter navigation!
PS. I do realize a lot of these images are going to be like screenshots for ants - I didn't account for this when I designed the post layout but I am not changing it now, so enjoy
1. Humble Beginnings
November 25th, 2020
Waking up in a new realm, I find myself scattered from my friends, with nothing in my pockets and nowhere to call home. Quickly fashioning some rudimentary tools for myself, we all set out to explore and find one another. A bit of digging, running and sailing later, some of us come across a small, but welcoming village. We regroup among these simple villagers and their friendly giants, settling into the extra stone-and-wood huts (ok we kind of just evicted a few of them). Some of us eagerly set out to explore the lands surrounding it, while others hang back to make this place a little more like home.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Some early tidying up of the village begins, with work being done on the paths, light landscaping and the beginnings of agriculture. Zeffy digs out a cave for himself in a nearby mountain and begins kidnapping some villagers for breeding, slavery and forced zombification/curing, effectively becoming the mad scientist of the village already.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I don't have any early documentation of his cave, but here are his current book slaves.
Arc claims a small patch of land over the lake - instead of building an actual house, he plants a giant tree there and builds some stairs and platforms off it. This is Hobo Tower.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Hobo Tower today. A now historical structure of Junopolis, being one of the first things 'built' here.
CTRL-click to enlarge
The view from the top of Hobo Tower. One of the earliest image we have of the village.
Wobbu and I are still living in random village huts at this point - we have prioritized agriculture and village defense, respectively. I begin construction of The Great Wall of Junopolis, and he starts a nice patch of farmlands just outside the wall. Everyone who is mining for diamonds and stuff also donates their cobble to me towards the wall. I made the borders way bigger than they needed to be.
CTRL-click to enlarge
A lovely view of the village just outside Wobbu's dirt hut.
On the adventurers' side, doge finds the remnants of a portal. He quickly repairs it to see what lies in wait, but the pig residents of the hellscape on the other side are anything but friendly. He crafts some gold boots with the block on top of the portal to escape the wrath of the pig people, but he was still not quite well-equipped enough to deal with the rest of the Nether at the moment. He comes home shortly after.

2. Getting Experienced
November 28, 2020
A Skeleton Spawner is discovered right under our village! The Skelly Farm is constructed by doge, complete with a railway for transport, and Zeffy improves upon it with an on/off switch. I believe our Enchanting Table and bookshelves are also relocated to this room at this point.
We have the occasional pillagers snooping around, but the Great Wall and lake are good defenses.
CTRL-click to enlarge
And whatever this spawning is.
Meanwhile, after much debate on whether or not the Wall should go around or through the lake, I have decided to wrap it just around the land mass because WOBBU WILL NOT LET THIS GO, though the lake is still considered our territory.
And I have adopted the first of many cats.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Speaking of cats...

Hi there.
3. Settling In
November 29, 2020
Wobbu has begun his Greek orgy house castle thing in what will eventually become our Cloud District. I have completed our wall, more or less. I'm sure far more exciting things are happening with the people who actually venture outside the village walls, but this is my journal, so you get my account of events. :)

Day 3 progress pic.
Construction of my tower also begins around this time, I believe. I pick the tallest hill within our town border to build on so it will be taller than Wobbu's build.

CTRL-click to enlarge
Not too much is different inside the village, some more work is done on the castle thing, and there is the addition of the thing on the lake that is Turtle Island. doge really wanted scutes, and now we have a turtle problem.
4. Gearing Up
December 1st, 2020
5 days in, Arc is decked out in fully enchanted Netherite Armor, so that solves the mystery of what Hobo Tower's proprieter has been up to all this time. Meanwhile, I am still a caveman using stone tools.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Real photo of arc
Zeffy has a lot of cool enchanting books already at this point - he's been working the villagers hard to provide us with chests full of Mending books.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Hello, sir.
December 3, 2020
I stole some diamonds from Arc and made a full set of tools. That Netherite-decked mf will not be needing them. I'm finally out of the Stone Age!
The railway to the skelly farm gets a little granite makeover, so the ride down there is a little less ugly.
CTRL-click to enlarge
And speaking of the skelly farm...
CTRL-click to enlarge
A small accident occurs in the spawner room as Zeffy rearranges the auto loot sorters.
CTRL-click to enlarge
The turtles are thriving.
Doge went spelunking. I'm not sure what the significance of this was, but it's in my notes so I will put it here. He also decides to build a panda dome, and picks out a spot for it just outside the village walls. He has a vision. A panda sanctuary. And he will stop at nothing to get a panda.
But that is a tale for another day, or another chapter. It's a good one, though. This man has done so much to try and secure a panda, and it has been a heartbreaking and hilarious journey. May he have his panda(s) one day.
Anyway, it should be noted at this point in time, nobody has seen a jungle yet. We've found some bamboo and jungle loot from dungeons, but no one has actually been to one.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Making use of the skelly room and enchanting table. This was before I realized I could just put a pickaxe there and it would retain the Fortune III enchant, so I thought I was just getting Fortune III shovels and axes.
On the adventurer's side, a lot of Nether exploration is being done now (well, had been done already, since Arc already has full Netherite armor). Two nether fortresses have been ransacked, yet there is a curious lack of Nether Warts in the village.
December 4, 2020
The mystery of the disappearing warts is solved. Kind of? I do remember Zeffy throwing two at me around this time, and he was the one who wanted potions for his villagers.
We have an intense argument about the placement of the walls once again.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Spoiler: He moved it in Creative.

I adopt a second cat.

Zeffy dies in a cave and lost all his stuff, as well as Arc's Silk Touch pick. But on the bright side, when he had returned, he also managed to get Mending books down to 1 emerald - it's a BYOB (bring your own book) Mending party.

Doge's construction of Panda Sanctuary continues, under the watchful eyes of some Pillagers.

He did not find pandas, but he brought home some llamas.

Sometime between December 9 and 12, Zeffy builds the fancy prison Trading Post for elite villagers.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Let's go inside and- oh.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I think he is working on some other discounts. We'll come back later.
December 12, 2020
Arc has collected three Wither skulls! Hopefully, they spawn it way, way away from the village.
I am in need of cocoa for brown dye, so doge needs to step up his jungle-finding game. It is crucial to the development of this town.
CTRL-click to enlarge
The village repopulation project begins.
CTRL-click to enlarge
This is Wobbuffet the farmer - no relation to Wobbuffet the Pokémon or Wobbu on the server - and he will become the progenitor of literally all our future villagers. I swear to god, to this day, every time I see him he is throwing food at other villagers and breeding with them. For now, though, at least, he will just be quietly farming alone for the next 15 days or so, because he will not see another villager until December 27th.
6. The End?
December 13, 2020
Zeffy has found the End Portal! A Nether passage is built to it so we can revisit this another day.
CTRL-click to enlarge
December 16, 2020
A full diamond armor skeleton appears in the spawner room?
CTRL-click to enlarge
I'm not sure if they dressed it on purpose or they can actually spawn like that, but we keep it as a pet.
December 17, 2020
The turtles have been released into the lake. They can no longer be contained by Turtle Island. Plus we have enough scutes now, so swim free, boys.
December 18, 2020
Preparations for fighting the Ender Dragon begin. Look at me, working for my own diamonds. A juicy diamond vein.
CTRL-click to enlarge
December 19, 2020
I eat a steak as I watch my friends beat the Ender Dragon. I was told to tag along for the achievement. I don't have a screenshot of the moment the End was conquered, but I do have a picture of the steak I ate while this was going down.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Okay, that's an underwhelming entry to literally the End of vanilla Minecraft. I did say this journal was going to be from the perspective of a coward. I contributed to the fight by brewing health and regen potions for everyone, though, plus, if it helps, they actually made pretty quick work of the fight so I didn't grab a screenshot. Here is a stock gif of the dragon flying.
And an ambient shot of the now peaceful End (just don't look at the tall boys).
CTRL-click to enlarge
Anyway, I survived going to the End in iron armor with a trackpad while a dragon was flying around to fall to death in my own mineshaft moments later and lose 33 levels. This is fine, though, you'll see why in a sec.
The rest of them look for End Cities for a while - I think only Zeffy stuck it out, and he did end up finding an Elytra for his troubles, as well as bringing back a few Shulker Boxes for us.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Very useful things.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I dyed mine black, and then pink, because I kept mistaking it for coal or blackstone when it was black and I just could never find it in my inventory.
7. A New Age
December 21, 2020
Zeffy is really good at making farms. He makes an iron golem farm and Enderman farm on this day. They are both insanely useful. The Enderman farm is why losing levels is not a big deal anymore - one swing of a good sword takes you from 0 to 7 levels. We also have Ender Pearls for days. We are basically cheating with this.
CTRL-click to enlarge
In the picture frame on top of the bookshelf is supposed to be a diamond Enderman Sweeper sword. Incidentally, I took this screenshot today, so if any of you 4 are reading this, check your inventory for it, you dinks
December 22, 2020
This happened.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I'm sure other things did, too, but that's all I have for notes on this date.
December 22, 2020
My first foray into the Nether. I wanted to find a Warped Forest. The blue wood is real pretty. I have an awful sense of direction and also didn't know where the Warped Forest is, so doge escorted me. We actually made our way safely to the forest and collected some wood, but then we found out neither of us had Silk Touch on us, which is required to pick up the nylium soil that these trees grow on, and we weren't about to leave without the ability to grow these mfs back home (it was actually a really long and dangerous trek). So Zeffy offered to bring us a Silk Touch pick, and after some time, he did make it to us. We filled our pockets with nylium and Warped Forest stuff.
Going back safely was apparently the biggest challenge of that night. I think doge was the first to perish - we found a Bastion while trying to find out way back and he eagerly dug his way in and immediately got slaughtered by a Berserker Piglin. It gave chase, but I hid in some rocks or something and somehow survived. Zeffy also fell into some lava. There was absolutely no chance I would be able to make it back alone. So I waited for doge to respawn and find me.
He did. Again and again, because he kept dying. And he would keep coming back with no armor.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Push me to the edge All my friends are dead
We make it out eventually, and all in all, my quest for some blue trees was extremely costly. For my friends, at least - they were in full enchanted diamonds and I think Zeffy actually lost his Elytra.
At least my lair looks real snazzy now, with the incorporation of Black Stone and Warped Wood.
CTRL-click to enlarge
It connects to the base of my tower via an elevator. More on that in the build tour.
CTRL-click to enlarge
So I'm sure we all agree it was worth it.
While all this was going down, Wobbu was boating around the world, in search for things. He finds many things. I think for a long time he was just sitting in an ocean trying to farm for a Trident, and he gets one eventually. But he finds a cool coral reef as well, an Ocean Monument, and a jungle!!! The search for pandas can begin proper, and more importantly, I get my cocoa beans.
CTRL-click to enlarge
This is the official flag of Junopolis. Context: 4 of us are Asian. Wobbu is an honorary Asian. And yes I literally just needed the brown dye for the chopsticks in the rice bowl.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I don't know what this is, but I found a screenshot of it, so it's here now. I think this was Zeffy constructing the Enderman farm.
8. Pets and Renovations
December 24, 2020
Our Christmas present:
CTRL-click to enlarge
He also went to the End Cities again and brought home 2 more Elytras, quickly recovering what was lost to the lava the previous day.
Doge engages in dangerous pet-keeping. They're not actually dangerous, just hard to get home.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Their names are Wuk, Guk, and a bad word that rhymes with the others.
A bee is in my minecart.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I think this is around the time I start working on my honey farm, so there's just bees everywhere. Very cute.
December 26, 2020
I spend a lot of time building a 2-way elevator in my base. It's a simple mechanic - a water elevator with buttons at the top and bottom that, when pressed, will activate a sticky piston under the elevator that pushes the bottom block from a magma block to soul sand, or vice versa. But because it needs to go from my lair, which is at Y=12, to the base of my tower, which is built on a hill, it spans 90 some blocks in total, at least, and running the redstone all the way up there took forever. Didn't help that I spilled the water once and washed away all my redstone and torches. But it works!!
Doge brings home a polar bear. Maybe he could just paint some black spots on it and put it in the sanctuary.
CTRL-click to enlarge
His name is Ultrasoft.
But speaking of that, other attempts are made, which can be summed up as:
CTRL-click to enlarge
Pandas are hard pets to bring home and keep. The jungle is also so far out you have to travel through the Nether to bring them back, so he attempts to boat them through the Nether.
For his second attempt, I aid in the Nether passage. We actually got the panda aLL THE WAY INSIDE THE DOME, but doge's dog (heh) immediately savages it for some reason 😭 So that is a count of two dead pandas at this point.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Meanwhile, Zeffy's iron golem farm is working well.
CTRL-click to enlarge
It works by putting a few villagers in constant peril to spawn the iron golems...
CTRL-click to enlarge
And then incinerating them with lava.
CTRL-click to enlarge
And a birds-eye view of our little corner of the world, to wrap up December 26th's updates.
December 27, 2020
Zeffy finally brings a friend from the mountains to the village for Wobbuffet, and they are prolific. I start working on the village more at this point, assigning jobs and knocking down their shit little huts for better architecture.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Oh, and what's this?
CTRL-click to enlarge
Could it be... the reason I wanted the Wall to go over the lake?
Nah, it was alright, they're usually too dumb to find their way in. We haven't started a raid yet, we just leave them alone and they usually despawn.
Walked in on a special moment between two villagers.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I'll come back later.
Meanwhile, the rest of them are planning to raid the Ocean Monument Wobbu found the other day.
We are starting to have a homeless problem, with the villagers breeding faster than I can build houses. I also took some time to revamp the market stalls instead, but they came out really nice.
I don't have a before shot of the exact area, but they do all generate similarly in vanilla, so this is what it looked like before:

I'm actually not sure what they were/are doing - sounds like the Monument is being torn down, and I know Zeffy is making a Guardian farm.
CTRL-click to enlarge
Things are coming along nicely. I continue to renovate houses, and Wobbu builds a dark oak house on the Eastern side of the village. He also extends the bridge into like a boardwalkey area.

Some revamping of the skelly farm, and a new friend for Dokuro the diamond-clad skeleton.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I decide to do something nice and gather some soul sand, Zeffy needs several chests full of them for something, I'm sure he explained at some point but I don't remember. But I head to the Nether, emboldened by my diamond and semi-Netherite gear, none of which I earned. Oh yeah, Arc just kind of digs for Netherite in his spare time, so he donates some to the rest of us occasionally.
CTRL-click to enlarge
I was also in the process of tearing down the cobble Nether hut and make it something nicer. I think this was when I first crafted my cool mouth shield, so I was running around making people look at it.

They really like getting stuck in cliffs. Meanwhile, doge has Respawn Anchors for us, if we need to go to the Nether and do anything dangerous. In the overworld, he also finds a Pillager Tower.
Wobbu starts building some pixel art. The first one was a doge for doge since it was his birthday, but then he also decided to build all our favourite Pokémon - Gyarados for Arc, Rowlet for me, Spinda for doge, Shroomish for Zeffy and Wobbuffet for Wobbu.

one of you better put up a pufferfish in an item frame for me
I always love seeing pixel art in Minecraft, it always looks so impressive to me (even if it was made in creative mode) :P
Also wtf how are you getting 247 FPS with shaders ;( Those daytime surface screenshots are so pretty and I can hardly get a decent framerate without shaders, I'm so jealous.
Also wtf how are you getting 247 FPS with shaders ;( Those daytime surface screenshots are so pretty and I can hardly get a decent framerate without shaders, I'm so jealous.
On the single-player side of things, I've started Persona 4 Golden! My boyfriend got me this during the Steam summer sale, and then also set up his PS4 here with P5 in it, so I figured I should finally play them since he's always gushing about these games. I know the stories aren't really connected so I don't have to play them in order, it's just that as good as I hear P4 is, I think P5 is better(?), so I kinda want to build up to it. Before I continue - just in case you haven't play this game and want to, I'm gonna be pretty candidly writing about my thoughts and experience with it, so-
Now, here are my (very scattered) first impressions; I played up to the end of what I believe is the hours-long prologue/intro, like I just beat Shadow Chie and it seems like I finally have full control over Yu's free time.
The characters are distinct enough that I have a good grasp on their personalities already, without trying too hard to make them stand out with annoying quirks or anything (cough Danganronpa), and they are all pretty likeable so far. Yosuke is my fave at the moment, as I think it's meant to be since we spend the most time with him. Or Nanako, bless that child.
Yosuke... please... we're in public
YOSUKE PLEASE
This ended exactly as expected
Except the protagonist, of course, I don't know if he stays a blank slate silent protagonist or if he will be developed further and we will learn more about him, but as of right now, he is a typical silent protagonist, so he's as likeable or as big of an asshole as I make him be with the dialogue options lol (I am being a nice boy).
Teddie is also cool.
Also love Teddie color-coordinating these glasses to our outfits for us. Good looking out, buddy
The story is A Lot to take in so far, but very intriguing already. Bit of a murder-mystery with whatever the hell you call this TV business. It's weird. I like it. Can't wait to find out more.
It is very weird they keep bringing this up. She is a child, Adult Reporter.
I don't really have any guesses so far as to what is going on, so I eagerly await more info.
If I had to guess something, I am a little sus of Dojima for... something? I don't know, maybe I just think he's a bad father and Nanako needs a babysitter. He's stressed from what they think are murders and all, I know he's doing his best as a single father, and also taking Yu in, but like... you can probably afford a babysitter so your 7 year old doesn't have to do everything around the house (idk how old she is).
Anyway, gameplay! I should first say I am playing on Normal difficulty since I have practically 0 experience when it comes to Persona games. Reminiscent of Final Fantasy and Pokemon (not really, just this collecting demons and Personas business, a little), so it's familiar but different enough that I am not bored. Just did the first dungeon leading up to Shadow Chie, I'm kind of bad at timing that first whack on regular enemies, but I'm enjoying it so far. I like the random encounters not being random, as in I can see them so I can avoid them if I choose to (I've been whacking them all so far since I'm trying to get the hang of the gameplay, but I do imagine at some point it will be nice to just have that option to sneak around them).
I'm having a bit of difficulty remembering what everything does because the Persona skills don't have very straightforward names (for someone who doesn't know Japanese, at least) so I find myself checking the abilities a lot. There's a lot to learn in terms of Personas and demons and fusing and links and everything, but I think I'll get the hang of it eventually.
If I have any criticism so far, I'm not a fan of not being able to save whenever I want. I can maybe understand that for dungeons, but there were just a lot of stretches of dialogue and cutscenes with no breaks in between, but I imagine/hope this is just because the prologue is very dialogue-heavy, and now that we've hit the part where we have more control over Yu, there are more opportunities to save throughout.
let me save let me save let me save oH MY GOD let me save
I do hate this in games, though - ITS NOT A CHOICE I WOULD TELL HIM
This is partially why I am expecting some sort of bad guy set up for Dojima, they seem to give us a lot of small, unnecessary conflicts here and there, so I don't know what to make of that yet. I like him, something just feels ominous.
What else, what else... oh yeah, the soundtrack slaps - it's one of those things I didn't appreciate until I am in the world, cause I remember distinctly disliking it was played in dubtrack, but now I find myself humming heartbreak 🎵 heartbreak 🎵 you 🎵 tell 🎵 me goodbye 🎵 all the time.
I think that's it for now - I've played a little into the next day, but that will probably go into a different update.
Every day's great at your Junes! Nanako is so adorable
I don't know how I want to keep this part updated yet, or at all - the sections in this thread for P4 are subject to change, depending on what I find necessary to log and stuff.
Persona is one of those franchises that people hype so much and recommend constantly, but I've never gotten around to playing. Maybe I'll use your fresh experience as a guide to determine if it's worth buying into the hype.

I think it's well worth the hype so far! Got enough traditional JRPG elements in it for it to be familiar, but it also mixes in dungeoning and 'slice of life' features that it feels new. Now that I'm out of the prologue and have free reign over how I spend my time, you can pretty much do whatever you want within the confines still of the overarching linear story (which is pretty engaging so far), so I'm having fun and I think you'd like it a lot, too. Next update will feature how I've been spending my time so far so you'll see what I mean. :p
So, upon having access to free roam the school (and town), I immediately notice this is almost the exact same layout as Yandere Simulator's school, which is god damn hilarious
YandereDev did say he was inspired by the Persona series, I just didn't realize how much he was inspired by it.
Joined the soccer team, and I am allowed to take jobs now, so I can earn a little extra spending money to buy books, food and katanas. You know, normal teenager stuff. I quickly discovered I can have more than one job, so naturally, I took everything currently available to me. I am now an envelope constructor, translator and assistant day care caretaker. What, spread too thin? Nah, what's the worst that can happen?
So I spent the next few days just working my jobs, hanging out with the sports crew, strengthening those social links. I did hop in the TV pretty early on with the intention of saving Yukiko, and I made it through the floors of the dungeon pretty easily, but the game strongly suggested and kept telling me that 'hey you know you can come back later, right? you don't have to do this all at once!!' so I got a little intimidated and decided to leave. I grinded out a few levels and went back to upgrade my gear and buy consumeables.
Went to the Velvet Room and made my first fusions also - I didn't really see the need to at first, mainly because it seemed like a lot of enemies in Yukiko's castle so far were weak to elemental damage our current Personas could already deal, but then I realized I could only have 6 Personas on Yu, so I played around with it to make room for stronger ones. Made myself a horseman (Orobas), doggo (Cu Sith), and Valkyrie, who has been very useful on the upper floors.
Hopped back in the TV a few days later - didn't want to cut it too close, so I committed to finishing the dungeon on Thursday, which was the second day of rain I think? And we found her! I'm not sure how I feel about Shadow Yukiko, by the way - the way it was framed for Yosuke and Chie made sense, they have their insecurities they needed to learn to accept as a part of themselves, but Shadow Yukiko is like... the part of her that doesn't want all the responsibilities she has, and she dislikes them so much it manifests in this version of her who wants literally anyone to take her away from her life in Inaba. And that just seems much darker in comparison? Like it's not just accepting who you are, because her accepting who she is doesn't solve the issue of 'maybe a 15 year old shouldn't feel the weight of her family's business on her shoulders', but we'll see how this pans out.
Anyway, the fight went pretty smoothly - she's weak to ice, so with both Chie's Persona and my new Valkyrie having the ice attack Bufu, it was pretty easy.
She also summons this little prince guy, which is kind of adorable.
Again, I feel like there's quite a difference between ":( I'm jealous of my friend" and "I am literally 15 I don't want to be running a whole ass inn and have my life decided for me right now", but what do I knoww
And sidenote, but there seems to be this running theme of Yukiko being hit on by everyone, and I don't know what Teddie is or how old he is but it is definitely very weird when adults comment on this, like that reporter previously and their god damn teacher lmao

go to horny jail
Anyway, back on the other side, I decide to spend some time with Marie because I keep forgetting about her - every time I'm in the Velvet Room, I'm in the TV, so she couldn't come out. We go for some steak skewers.
She didn't appreciate the joke, but I liked it.
Halfway through the day I am starting to feel like this is a date? Are we on a date? I just wanted to be nice, she looked so sad in the Velvet Room but she's very tsundere and this punk mailman-cop aesthetic is not really my thing. I'll take a social link, though.
And back at home, the TV announcer confirmed that we beat the fog by a bit. The Midnight Channel is nice and empty since we saved Yukiko, but it seems like someone else is gonna be in trouble soon. The plot thickenssss. But in the meantime, I guess I have some spare time to kill, so time to do some normal kid stuff and work some of my jobs so I don't get fired. I don't actually know if I can get fired, but hey, money is nice anyway. I ate some bad tofu in the fridge or something and that apparently greatly increased my Courage. Also agreed to go on a family trip with the Dojimas! I'm partially excited to spend time with cousin Nanako because she's adorable, but I also accidentally found out she is the Justice social link and there is an Archangel Persona I'd like to fuse.
You and me both, kid
Again, nobody is trapped yet, but it seems I can still go dungeoning to grind levels and stuff, so I do just that. Teddie gives us some gag glasses, so I immediately make everyone wear them, of course.
It was a great and necessary decision.
I'll wrap this up with a reminder to myself - in 2 levels I am able to fuse a Jack Frost. I do not know why this is significant, but I see this little guy everywhere, so I assume he is good and/or fun.

I don't remember that joke being in the game but I'm so glad it is omg
also I think the reason you see Jack Frost everywhere is because he's the mascot of the SMT series and Atlus as a whole, I think. He definitely has that mascot-y look, don't you think?
Yeah, he looked very familiar and I just didn't know what series he was from until this lol. 'Bout to be able to fuse a King Frost with him 👀 Which is much less cute, unfortunately but I want that Bufula
edit: also just found out Marie/the Aeon social link were added only to Golden, so if you played the original P4, that joke, along with all Marie scenes would have all been absent
welcome to part 8 of me starting and not finishing games So, I've been itching to start up a new Rimworld file. If you don't know what Rimworld is, it's a colony-building game where the main objective is to progress through technology through research (and staying alive) until you can build a spaceship to leave the planet you've crashed on.
I'll be playing the classic Crashlanded scenario since I haven't played in a while, which basically starts me off with 3 colonists and some basic supplies. Here is a full list of what we will start with.
BEGINNINGS
CTRL-click to expand
Our story begins here, near the Cale Rainforest. If you care for the specifics, I chose this area for the following reasons:
Spoiler:
Mountainous terrains are pretty good for defences - being surrounded by mountains and even digging into the mountains is one of the best forms of defences I've found because I suck at building killboxes. Because this game likes to fuck you at all times though, there comes with it a whole host of other possible issues, but I've found them manageable, namely, megaspiders lay eggs in mountains and you can be in for a nasty surprise if you don't keep your cave home cold enough so that their eggs can't hatch, but that is a problem for another day.
Granite and marble are the two best stone types, I think - granite is very strong and good for building walls, and marble is very beautiful, so when we get past our early day struggles and have time for luxuries, we can build nice statues that will improve morale, and can sell them to traders for good money.
The temperate forest is that, temperate - temperatures are quite mild, so we won't have to manage our clothing types and heating/cooling too much at the base.
We have a good growing period here, so when we get to planting crops, we should have enough fertile soil naturally for them to grow for most of the year. There's also lots of wild berries in the area if we need food in a pinch.
You'll also see on the map we are quite close to a civil outlander faction (the blue house icon), but not too close that we would be encroaching their territory, so if we build our rapport with them we should be able to trade with them and they will have nicer things than the average tribe, but also be less hostile than pirates or barbarians. tl;dr: good neighbors, I hope.
The rest of the info chart is self-explanatory, so let's move on to our colonists!
COLONISTS
As part of the crash-landed scenario, we start with 3 colonists. I rolled some decent stats for them and named them after Inky, Faffy and Tara, who were in the Discord at the time - let's take a look at them:
CTRL-click to expand
Everything is randomized, but I am able to change their names. I kept Inky's name as Sugar Osborne because that is a great name.
We have some crucial skills here that help form a well-rounded beginning team and will cover the basics of survival. Tara's skills in construction and mining will help us build shelter quickly early on - she also has great traits and will be a serviceable cook. The little fires next to each skill represents their passion for that skill, which will make them learn and improve that much faster and have a mood boost when they are assigned to tasks of that skill. So even though Inky is not currently as skilled as Tara in mining, he should overtake her in that ability very quickly because of how much he likes it.
You may have noticed an... interesting trait of his. It's not as bad as one might think, it just means he is going to be able to eat people without a mood penalty, but he'll be perfectly fine eating regular food. It will actually give him a hefty mood buff if he does get to eat people, so a colony of cannibals is actually very easy to keep alive and in high spirits - they can literally eat their enemies. The trouble comes with a single cannibal in a group of non-cannibals, because the others are going to be upset if Inky starts cutting up people for food, so he'll just have to not do that around them. But aside from that, there are really no downsides to being a cannibal.

Faffy is going to be the muscle here, with a very impressive melee stat. She's also decently social, which will come in handy for negotiations, trading, and recruiting new colonists. Faffy does have asthma though (I didn't screenshot their health tabs because everyone is healthy aside from Faffy's asthma), so it will be a medical priority to find her a "donor" for lungs.
We do not have a good medic yet, but Tara could become one. Luckily, during this session alone, quite a few transport pods crash-landed on our map, so we were able to take in the survivors, patch them up and send them on their way, slowly building up Tara's medic skills and also building rapport with the faction they came from. We could take them prisoner and recruit them, but we can't currently feed that many people so the game plan for now is to just use them for Dr. Tara's medical training so that she can eventually perform surgeries and organ transplants successfully.
GETTING STARTED
CTRL-click to expand
And we begin! The first order of business is to set up a shelter and stockpile for our belongings, of which we do not have much. A side note, I live-reported a lot of food poisoning and mishaps in the Discord while I was playing, but I promise we're in good hands and I know what I'm doing - the early days before you have a proper camp set up is just going to be a little rough, but I left us in a good position when I ended, so things should be looking up.
Anyway, not two seconds after I begin the game, Inky hits on and is immediately rebuffed by Faffy, which is hilarious because right as the game starts, everyone actually has a bit of "Cryptosleep Sickness" after they crash land, so he was doing this while vomiting and trying to haul our supplies into a cave.

I should also note that while I can assign colonists to tasks and areas of the map, I have 0 control over social interactions, so any friendships and relationships that form (or don't) is 100% the colonists' own doing. I do have the Psychology mod installed, which gives them more in-depth personalities, and they will interact with and dislike each other based on these traits. Here are some of Tara's traits, for example:

We have a spacedog, or skiphound, as they call it in game. Her name is Isabel. She can teleport. Inky's pretty good with animals, so they form a bond quickly and he can train her to fight and haul things around camp when he is not busy.

I pick this mountainside to dig into for our base, for the previously mentioned reasons.

There is a spider cave at the top of the map, as I feared there would be, but it should be far enough away that it's not going to be a problem anytime soon. Plus, I saw a hapless raider looking for our camp wander in earlier and get absolutely decimated by its inhabitants, so it kind of functions as a bit of natural defence against raiders and people coming to do us harm entering the map from the top right. Just gotta be careful none of our own wander up there.

Not too long into the game, a young man invites himself into the PokeCommune - typically, new colonists take a bit of work to recruit, but occasionally one will just join without being asked, which can be good or bad, because you could just get an absolute burden of a colonist without the option to turn them away, and "getting rid" of a faction member will, again, give everyone mood penalties. Luckily, our new recruit's strengths make up for his incapabilities, so I name him Austinky and he joins the ranks. He makes a decent hunter and fighter, and the intellectual skill will be handy in researching new technologies. The minor passion in crafting will also make him good smith and tailor, when our weapons and clothing need replacing. For now, though, I task him with mopping the floors of everyone's vomit. Preparing food and eating in a dirty cave, as it turns out, has given everyone food poisoning.

By the end of the (IRL) night, we have 4 separate bedrooms (which turned out to be unnecessary, because Inky's advances finally pay off and he now shares a bedroom with Faffy), a dining room, clean kitchen, a freezer for storing food, and a makeshift prisoner's room (we had to take a few prisoners, but mercifully - Tara just patched them up and sent them home. The lung-harvesting will come another day).
If you'd like to be a part of my game, please see the 'JOIN POKÉCOMMUNE' tab up top!!
JOIN
I'd love for more PC members to join! As mentioned, recruiting new members is a slow process, but ideally, I'd like to add as many of you as I can. If you're interested in seeing yourself in these updates, fill this out so I know your preferences and every time a new colonist joins PokeCommune, I'll randomize for a member and name the new colonist after someone here. Just leave a post here with the following:
Name: Format has to be Firstname 'Nickname' Lastname - most important part is the nickname, since that is how the game refers to you as (eg. Faffy is Fafrir 'Faffy' Dragon, and the game calls her Faffy), so if you don't care about your first and last name, I can just randomize that.
Gender: The game only has male or female, sorry enby friends :( Leave blank if it doesn't matter.
Age: a number
Kinsey Scale: 0-6. Leave blank if it doesn't matter, but the game assigns 0 or 1 to most colonists.
There's a whole bunch of stats and backstories each colonist has (see: Backstories and Traits on the wiki for just the vanilla ones), but I think it would be best to randomize everything except for the ones listed above to keep it more fair.
