what ever happened to baby jane

what can I say
absurdly quotable, brilliant movie
one of my faves

From Up On Poppy Hill. Pretty sure I've seen part of it before, but maybe that was just a preview.

I know! I just watched Gone Girl the other night, too. I couldn't figure out why would she do that ... She was a disturbing, jealous, and vindictive person. One of the better scenes for me was actually when the low-income couple, Greta and that guy, steal the cash from Amy. It's what Amy deserved for trying to fake her disappearance and fake being a victim of abuse or violence.
The ending was like wtf? Baby or no baby, how stupid. Why are you staying with this woman? Great example of an unhealthy relationship.

Actually, last three I've seen in the comfort of my home:

The Imitation Game
Wayne's World
The Lego Movie

you have to admit he does have a leg to stand on
not disagreeing with him but it was such a beautiful movie that really its pseudo-intellect(?) can be kinda forgiven. last third goes a bit Off-The-Rails but other than that. it's perfectly fine.

is this a passive-aggressive jab perchance

Passive-aggressive jab? And who am I supposed to be insulting, Nolan? He makes far too much money to care what I have to say. What a strange reply...

The film is visually-stunning, but I don't go to the movies for eye-candy alone. That is just one aspect to the experience, to me. Static characters and a convoluted exploration into pseudo-science and philosophy aren't my idea of great film.

just because someone's rich doesn't mean you can't insult them. besides I kind of agree with you. I don't watch films purely for eye candy either, but really I think at least the characters were compelling and the weird inaccurate science is mostly compacted into the last third which is when the film goes into total 2001 worship without the actual intellect and sense of vaguely stoned wonder that kept 2001 above water. (of course that's not the only reason 2001 succeeds -- it's a masterclass in atmosphere and coldness and Beauty. fuck me) moral of the story, I think Interstellar is still very good and well done and looks phenomenal. nothing is more frustrating than when people are like "BEST MOVIE EVRR SO DEEP." not tryna fight you at all. I agree with you.

I haven't had the chance to watch a film in a while, since I have had so much on, but there's a good chance that Whiplash was the last film I watched from start to finish. It was a tour de force, too. A lot of the films released around December or January each year tend to be Oscar-bait, and therefore overrated (hello, Twelve Years a Slave and The King's Speech!). It takes a few years to appreciate them properly and correctly. But Whiplash, I think, will stand the test of time. Perhaps J.K. Simmons is not the best role model for teaching, though.

The new Godzilla...why is it a thing, that with these epic, huge-monster-on-monster battles type films, (not wanting to be rude for the people that like this), it's just they always have to include the crappy human/scientist/main heroic type guy with the annoying girlfriend with kid etc. storylines. They have to lay on the cheese, every time you get these type of films...the lame script, everything is so layed on thick!!! Sorry to rant on, that type of stuff just annoys me! Lol I love the whole colossal monster, destruction type things...just not a fan of the sap :P
