One of the things I love about The Witcher 3 is all the random little encounters you can either get or completely miss depending on your earlier choices.

Happens to me too, it doesn't seem to bother my VPP partner though XD

A lot of them nowadays seem to be concerned about not allowing the player to miss anything in their first playthrough. :(

I agree with this concern. I really don't like being forced to play a game several times to explore the different paths. When that happens, I generally just watch a playthrough of the other choices.

I've never done any campaign in Age of Empires / Mythology lol. I just played the game :)

With the sheer amount of games coming out every year it is understandable that many people just want to play a game, finish it and then immediately move one. But I'd argue that there are some series that would benefit greatly from making stuff missable and therefore encouraging people to go for a replay.

*Glares at pile of unplayed games*
Well that mentality could help me reduce my gigantic backlog I guess xD

You're not missing much tbh =P

Playing with cheat codes in some RTS is actually interesting, allowing to try different, specific things we could not do otherwise (full dragons' army (!), switching factions in game to build / produce EVERY building / unit all at once, ...)!
In Warhammer Total War series, I sure enjoyed making, without worrying about cost nor having to wait hundreds of turns, armies of giant golems, or dinosaurs, or vampire knights, or treemen, tanks, minotaurs, giant terracotta sentinels, ... The list would be too long!
In various other games, I enjoyed to just be building every faction's buildings, doing every research / upgrade, producing every unit, for its own sake. ^^

O CANADA
Gives you a bear with Canadian flag as a cape, also shoots lasers and has insane regen.
Honestly I don't venture in the wilds in Canada because I fear I may encounter it.

Spoiler:

So much untapped power!
