Depends, really. Like, our current situation is mostly caused due to disrupted supply chains. Producers have to pay more so they charge more. But those supply chains are fixed now for the most part. As a result production costs have already gone down. Unfortunately, consumer prizes lag behind. So, it's most likely going to take some time (a couple months) for them to catch up.
But of course: we won't be reaching pre-war prices again.

The one you're probably thinking about is the "traditional" inflation. It's caused by people having more money available and thus spend more. Producers can't keep up with that increased demand and as a result increase prices.

Don't ask me why I know stuff like this. ^^"

The only price I've seen go down is for gas at the gas station.

Supermarkets here for example raised their prices due to gas prices going up and I've never seen a supermarket lower them again later on, outside of temporary 'on sale' discounts.
