Leaks/Rumors Discussion Thread

So Famon posted this image at the anime subforum to debunk the final evos leak as false and nothing more than deviantART fakemon:

[PokeCommunity.com] Leaks/Rumors Discussion Thread

However, that doesn't even explain the whole Mallow situation.

It was compiled by 4chan and was then sourced into KYM, allowing me to copy/paste without having to worry about the original 4chan image deleted when the thread is eventually archived.

1. See leaks
2. Redraw leaks and claim to be the original artist
3. ???
4. Profit

This means nothing. It's just some guy on deviantart pretending he did them. People did the same thing with the gen 5 starter leaks. And that art isn't even as well drawn.

It's even worse. The guy isn't even pretending to have made them. He traced them, called it fanart and a bunch of unrelated people tried to say he was the artist. This started to happen before the trailer was released, even though he keeps correcting people.

With regard to the rumor that there are two final evolutions some have made the argument that evolutions are based on day/night system...not touching the "gender split". Provided the leak that indicate Rockruff is likely a werewolf (maybe different forms on different islands)

Rowlet
Spoiler:

Popplio
Spoiler:

Litten
Spoiler:

All-in-all it seems like transformations and breaking barriers through exploring dualism is could go well with these designs. Dualism has been explored by almost all of the pokemon games, but I think with sun/moon, they want that coexisting contrast to be more tangible and expressive. How one thing actually contains two, seemingly polar opposites. Nocturnal/Diurnal (Rowlett hunting vs ) or Logical/Passionate(Litten) Limitations/Limitlessness(Popplio) or Athleticism/Beauty(Popplio) or Normal/Supernatural (Rockruff's Werewolf).

Though, I am not really sure if changing formes or permanent formes would be used.

Here's a sort of update on the leaks that were posted here a couple of days ago;

I like this idea. Perhaps male Popplio (if they go by the sex of the Pokemon) could be more merman looking. Think of a fusion of the situation between the Nidos and Ralt's final evolutions.

Pretty sure something like that would have been spotted months ago if it existed. (the community doesn't mess about when it comes to fakes) Seems convenient that proof that it's just a deviantart fake is just showing up now days after we've been given strong reason to believe it's real.

Literally this. It's a sad attempt to debunk these. Arguably as bad as the few 4chan ones are. Also there is no date in that screenshot, so that automatically makes it fake as it shows there's no proof. Mallow and the other leaks confirm them right away.

As for split evos: I could definitely see this happen, because of the Alolan forms. They won't get new dex entries, but get new looks, stats, and moves tied to that pokemon. So it happening for the starters and rockruff wouldn't be to farfetch'd.

I think day and night could trigger it, but a popular theory seems to be that each island gives a different one. Don't know how likely that is though, but we shall see. Also having multiple final forms for starters doesn't detract much from their popularity.

It just gives them more mascot and marketing material. So it could work really well for them in the end.

As much as I don't want the games to be inspired by the anime, I think it would be really neat if the supposed new Butterfree form was the pink Butterfree from the anime.

If this happens, I really want crystal onix as well. Either water and rock( or fairy), or maybe water. It resits fire so one of those would work.

Thank goodness I was always for rowlet, but I really hope the dual evolution lines thing is true. I hate when they make pokemon that are so massively based on one gender. final litten is super masculine and final popplio is super feminine and I can't stand that as I'd end up only ever training them if the pokemon matched the gender and on top of it I think any pokemon with super defined gender traits should be branching. We get some really awesome pokemon when they do this.

Aren't crystals associated with Ice types due to their clear appearance? Onix already resists fire due being a Rock type.

If I can remember correctly Crystal Onyx was actually weak to fire types. It was mostly immune, or at least took little damage from everything, but fire. But it has been a very long time since I saw that episode.

And yes. In most cases crystal is associated with Ice. I figured Ice/Dragon might be the typing if we get it.

As for the possible split evolution, if the rumor is true, what does everyone think they will look like?

I am honestly doubting the appearance will change too much and I doubt they will make it another pokemon. Every gender different appearance we have now have been the same pokemon species. If it is gender based, then they will be the same species with small changes.

If they change with time of day, they might be new appearances and possibly different types.

True but carbrink has crystals and is rock fairy, butt he isn't a giant blue crystal so who knows...

Fairy or ice would make good secondary typings to rock. I knew about the rock, but fire did literally nothing if I remember correctly so it could be two typings that fire can't beat. I'd have to watch the episode again though.

It would be awesome to see regardless though.

Or they could give it an exclusive ability that makes it resist to every type but Fire types.

If that happened, evolite Crystal onix could be terrifying.

Give him stealth rock, and other useful moves and slowly tear through opponents mons.

That reminds me, will Steelix also have to use an Alola form like its pre-evolved form?

I would say so. It would make little sense for Onyx to de-adapt when evolving. So I would say it is safe to assume it would if we were to get an Alolan Onyx. Although, it is already technically adapting to take on metal. But I don't think that means much. They would just have to change the evolution method. Similar to what they will probably do to Vulpix and Ninetails.

However, one could say that when a Fire Stone on a Ice Vulpix, it could gain its Fairy to resist the Fire Stone's power.

It says that when fire is even near a snow Vulpix, it uses its breath to lower the temperature around its body.

The Nido royals say hi.

Here's hoping those starter final evos are fake... They're pure cancer.

That's a non-issue.

Now I really hope Popplio in particular doesn't get a 2nd evo.
