So Famon posted this image at the anime subforum to debunk the final evos leak as false and nothing more than deviantART fakemon:
However, that doesn't even explain the whole Mallow situation.
It was compiled by 4chan and was then sourced into KYM, allowing me to copy/paste without having to worry about the original 4chan image deleted when the thread is eventually archived.
1. See leaks
2. Redraw leaks and claim to be the original artist
3. ???
4. Profit
This means nothing. It's just some guy on deviantart pretending he did them. People did the same thing with the gen 5 starter leaks. And that art isn't even as well drawn.
It's even worse. The guy isn't even pretending to have made them. He traced them, called it fanart and a bunch of unrelated people tried to say he was the artist. This started to happen before the trailer was released, even though he keeps correcting people.
With regard to the rumor that there are two final evolutions some have made the argument that evolutions are based on day/night system...not touching the "gender split". Provided the leak that indicate Rockruff is likely a werewolf (maybe different forms on different islands)
Rowlet
Spoiler:
Based on the typing icons, some people thought either litten or rowlett would have a ground typing. If the split evolutions (or formes) are real, I could see Rowlett having a day or night evolution or forme. I am not sure how I feel about a "forme" that is flexible, but it might be interesting. After all, if the mostly confirmed rumor that also included details about Rockruff's werewolf evolution, it might share the secret of being a dark type were werewolf at night and a different type during the day, since werewolves change forms temporarily during night and day cycles. (Moon/Sun cycles).
Likewise, burrowing owls are NOT Nocturnal:
"The Burrowing owl is, unlike other owls, diurnal. Most owls are nocturnal, yet the burrowing owl, in keeping with its unique attributes, is a daytime owl. Much of its hunting, nesting, mating, and other activities take place during the daylight hours."
Could the burrowing owl be the day form and the hooded nocturnal hunter come out at night? I'm fascinated by the idea.
Popplio
Spoiler:
I believe that IF this day/night system of formes (that are intermittent, not permanent) is true, then Poppmaid and Tiger-Mask are night formes. Poppmaid looks like it is inspired by aqua musical performers who influenced some of the first movies in Hollywood filmed in locations like Hawaii. i.e. Esther Williams, who was featured in Hail Cesaer! (2015) was one of the pioneers in glamorizing Hawaii and starred as a Mermaid (she was know as the "American Mermaid") and starred in movies that feature her as a mermaid and competitive swimmer (athlete). She transformed gender roles as one of the first athletes to be glamorized by hollywood, and build huge popularity and drew in huge crowds of locals in Hawaii (before it was a vacation spot.) You know that whole plot line in Hail Cesaer! about Williams' pregnancy was in reference to her filming in Hawaii. Anyway, the plot of the movie who is beloved in Hawaii initially started swimming to strengthen her legs and improve her health as a woman with polio. This sounds an AWFUL LOT like Popplio (polio) in the sense that Popplio is trying its best to walk and land and improve itself through exercise. At the same time it has an aspiration to perform and is rather outgoing. For Popplio strengthening its legs "on land, it uses the elasticity of its bubbles to perform acrobatic stunts and jumps" seems to show its determination to be sociable and included (not limited by its inability to walk).
I know this is a stretch, that is why I used so much detail. Popplio even in its multimeaning name (polio, leo, pop, pup) seems to indicate that movement and athleticism as well as performance "popping out" seem to both be a part of its personality. Thus at night a mermaid entertainer and during the day an athlete who is dedicated to improve its life and health. This is entirely similar to the plot of the Million Dollar Mermaid (aqua musical performer as a mermaid at night, and an athlete who overcame physical limitations and trained as a competitive swimmer and diver at day). NOTE: Williams' died in 2013 and had ceremonies in HAWAII And the SOUTH PACIFIC were her ashes were spread upon her request.
I could see Popplio's evolution becoming (water/fighting) at day to express its dedication to improving strength and health. Again, the dualism is important to note, because the actually reason behind this training is to belong and be loved. Popplio does look like a showboat when it poses on its tail fin -- it wants to be adored. Thus, the fairy type mermaid seems to contrast yet coincide with that athletic (fighting type) drive.
Litten
Spoiler:
Fire-Mask is a wrester (likely fire/dark) at night. As a different sort of entertainer. During the day, a normal person, and at night a wrestler behind a mask. Litten's description, "Logical but also passionate, Litten always remains coolheaded and doesn't show its emotions on the surface," seems to indicate that it has the potential to be different things "logical" and "passionate" or "cool-headed" and "emotional". Wrestling in Japan was about expressing a spirtited side full of passion and emotion. I could see Tiger-Mask becoming being logical (aka psychic type) in its other forme -- with a complete control of emotion and passion. I could also see it as a stoic rock type, especially since Litten's attack animation shows it's back furr spiking up as if it is experiencing tectonic activity.
"Igneous rock (derived from the Latin word ignis meaning fire) is one of the three main rock types, the others being sedimentary and metamorphic. Igneous rock is formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava. Igneous rock may form with or without crystallization, either below the surface as intrusive (plutonic) rocks or on the surface as extrusive (volcanic) rocks. This magma can be derived from partial melts of existing rocks in either a planet's mantle or crust. Typically, the melting is caused by one or more of three processes: an increase in temperature, a decrease in pressure, or a change in composition."
This description seems to demostrate that transformations over time (cooling at night) and heating during the day allows for the singular formation of igneous rocks. Likewise, does Litten's evo build up passions during the day, and become completely driven by passions during the night -- letting off that steam?
All-in-all it seems like transformations and breaking barriers through exploring dualism is could go well with these designs. Dualism has been explored by almost all of the pokemon games, but I think with sun/moon, they want that coexisting contrast to be more tangible and expressive. How one thing actually contains two, seemingly polar opposites. Nocturnal/Diurnal (Rowlett hunting vs ) or Logical/Passionate(Litten) Limitations/Limitlessness(Popplio) or Athleticism/Beauty(Popplio) or Normal/Supernatural (Rockruff's Werewolf).
Though, I am not really sure if changing formes or permanent formes would be used.
Here's a sort of update on the leaks that were posted here a couple of days ago;
Spoiler:
>Greninja-Ash will appear in the game. This can have the same agreement with the bracelet Z announced, as it is a form of synchronization on the Pokémon.
>Raticate and Rattata Type Alolan will Sinister.
>Alolan Butterfree will be Bug Type / Phychic
>Abra, Kadabra and Alakazam will Alolan Fight Type.
>Alolan Nidoking and Nidoqueen will become Poison Type / Fight.
>Growlithe and Arcanine Type Alolan Water will become.
>Alolan Doduo and Dodrio will be flying Type / Fight.
>New forms of Alolan for the first generation, can only be obtained by transferring the Pokémon Games Virtual Console 3DS Red, Blue and Yellow but not be limited only to these games. (I suppose Pokemon GO will work with the Games like Masuda said)
>Furfrou get a new style, which will be somewhat acclimatized depending on the island of Alola.
>Cats will have new Pokémon variety regarding parenting.
>A snow man came also with Rate Ice / Ghost
>Final evolutions of the original will be two.
>The latter can be based with the evolution of Gender and explain why the evolution of Popplio is a Mermaid.

I like this idea. Perhaps male Popplio (if they go by the sex of the Pokemon) could be more merman looking. Think of a fusion of the situation between the Nidos and Ralt's final evolutions.
So Famon posted this image at the anime subforum to debunk the final evos leak as false and nothing more than deviantART fakemon:

Pretty sure something like that would have been spotted months ago if it existed. (the community doesn't mess about when it comes to fakes) Seems convenient that proof that it's just a deviantart fake is just showing up now days after we've been given strong reason to believe it's real.

Literally this. It's a sad attempt to debunk these. Arguably as bad as the few 4chan ones are. Also there is no date in that screenshot, so that automatically makes it fake as it shows there's no proof. Mallow and the other leaks confirm them right away.
As for split evos: I could definitely see this happen, because of the Alolan forms. They won't get new dex entries, but get new looks, stats, and moves tied to that pokemon. So it happening for the starters and rockruff wouldn't be to farfetch'd.
I think day and night could trigger it, but a popular theory seems to be that each island gives a different one. Don't know how likely that is though, but we shall see. Also having multiple final forms for starters doesn't detract much from their popularity.
It just gives them more mascot and marketing material. So it could work really well for them in the end.
As much as I don't want the games to be inspired by the anime, I think it would be really neat if the supposed new Butterfree form was the pink Butterfree from the anime.

Thank goodness I was always for rowlet, but I really hope the dual evolution lines thing is true. I hate when they make pokemon that are so massively based on one gender. final litten is super masculine and final popplio is super feminine and I can't stand that as I'd end up only ever training them if the pokemon matched the gender and on top of it I think any pokemon with super defined gender traits should be branching. We get some really awesome pokemon when they do this.
If I can remember correctly Crystal Onyx was actually weak to fire types. It was mostly immune, or at least took little damage from everything, but fire. But it has been a very long time since I saw that episode.
And yes. In most cases crystal is associated with Ice. I figured Ice/Dragon might be the typing if we get it.
As for the possible split evolution, if the rumor is true, what does everyone think they will look like?
I am honestly doubting the appearance will change too much and I doubt they will make it another pokemon. Every gender different appearance we have now have been the same pokemon species. If it is gender based, then they will be the same species with small changes.
If they change with time of day, they might be new appearances and possibly different types.
True but carbrink has crystals and is rock fairy, butt he isn't a giant blue crystal so who knows...
Fairy or ice would make good secondary typings to rock. I knew about the rock, but fire did literally nothing if I remember correctly so it could be two typings that fire can't beat. I'd have to watch the episode again though.

I would say so. It would make little sense for Onyx to de-adapt when evolving. So I would say it is safe to assume it would if we were to get an Alolan Onyx. Although, it is already technically adapting to take on metal. But I don't think that means much. They would just have to change the evolution method. Similar to what they will probably do to Vulpix and Ninetails.
However, one could say that when a Fire Stone on a Ice Vulpix, it could gain its Fairy to resist the Fire Stone's power.
It says that when fire is even near a snow Vulpix, it uses its breath to lower the temperature around its body.
