lisa needs braces

(i'm going to have that scene replaying in my head for the next week now)

i'm bored and cleaning my retainer 'cause it has a weird taste and i'm curious if any of you have had braces in your time on earth
i won't go into my experience but i can g u a r a n t e e it was longer than yours

I had braces in highschool when around 15 to 17 years old (2 year stint from memory). I had to have an expander prior to the braces though, which was the weirdest part. It attached to four teeth on my upper palate and would push them to allow room for my teeth. I almost choked on spaghetti thanks to it as it managed to wrap around the centre of the device and dangle down my throat...

I decided to get fluorescent coloured braces, because why not?

Speaking of other mouth correcting devices... when I broke my jaw I had screws in my gums that had to keep my mouth shut using rubber bands.

Haha this topic got me feeling the wires at the back of my teeth.

I had braces going into my final year of college. I remember the timing was really great because I didn't want to have them on for my graduation or going into university. Got them on in the 4th term of Year 12 and then off a month left before year 13 ended.
My teeth weren't that bad to begin with, however, I got elbowed in the jaw playing basketball one match and somehow my growing tooth twisted slightly. My front teeth and a few others were also slightly not straight and cause of them both ended up getting braces.

First 2 weeks with braces were damn painful and when I got rubber bands, those were incredibly annoying. I remember getting my colours changed every time I went to the orthodontists, and every time it would be one neon coloured and one black one alternatively.

I remember when I first got them off I somewhat missed having them on, but now that I think of it, I don't really anymore.
Especially when getting things stuck in your braces ...ugh that was really annoying.

I've never had braces; I haven't needed them. Hopefully I won't need them in the future -- at least with my wisdom teeth out that's probably possible. :]

Dental plan!

(the only acceptable response to this thread)

I had braces and a palette expander which was annoying. Now I just have a permanent retain on my front teeth and I where a nightly one as well

Dental plan!

I was just gonna do this myself! XD

I had braces on for 2 years, and they did nothing, really. Probably the worst things ever as I now bite on the inside of my mouth because of the wire and the sharpness of the brackets kept cutting my skin open. Oh, you know about that thing where they say if you eat chewing gum and it will stick to your braces? it's a load of bull. I ate chewing gum a lot and NOT ONCE did they stick.

I had braces twice, pretty sucky. I mean the results were alright for awhile, but I lost lost my retainer, and after like three years my teeth are shifting back lol.

i had braces for like 3 years, a retainer for 2 years before that
now ive just got a back brace ive had for like 4 years now because i just havent been able to get back to the orthodontist because they keep cancelling my appointments

I had braces since November 2012. I was 17 in my senior year of high school. I finally got my bottom braces out on December 2014 and I am now wearing a retainer. I'm still waiting for my top braces to be removed once the ortho gives the okay.

When I first got my braces, oh man was I in horrible pain. I spent the week in school grabbing onto my jaw with my eyes shut tight. My best friend who has braces, long before me, was giving me tips on how to relieve the pain and such so that was pretty cool.

The thing I really hate about braces is flossing my teeth with them. I also dislike rubber bands and retainers because I constantly had/have to remove them and reapply them whenever I wanted to eat or drink. That bothers me because I'm always having snacks here and there between or after meals. I also hated getting cut in the inside of my cheeks or lips, or even when the wires poked me and I had to wait a week to see the ortho to cut it off.

I had braces when I was 13/14 years old. They were placed on me 13 days before my 13th birthday in 2008, and removed 10 days before I became a high school freshman in 2009. Don't ask me how I remember those dates, but I just do.

I'm still wearing retainers to this day as well. They aren't fun to have in your mouth when you're talking for long periods of time, but they really do help in holding my teeth.

I never needed braces so I was told, turns out he was right since my teeth have come together nicely. Oh and thanks for putting that scene in my head, I can't stop hearing it now. ;;

I had a retainer for maybe 6 months when I was 11. never had braces, and according to the dentist don't need 'em. 8)

i will never need braces, and i am very happy for that. my heart goes out to those of you that have/had them, i'm sorry you had to go through with that but i hope the end result was worth it

I had braces for 3 years. Before that my mouth was in an atrocious state. One of my adult incisor teeth was all twisted, so that had to be corrected. Orthopaedic guy also said I have an underbite. Lovely. I've since had one of those 'invisible' permanent retainers fitted. I don't like it, but little else can be done. I also have a night time retainer, but I neglect to use it.

I got my braces when I was 8 years old, taken off at 15.
My jaw derped and needed 4 different ones to stop me from looking like a Llama.
The worst bit was having those impression moulds taken each time, I hate that with a passion. :C

No women, no kids, no braces. I don't whiten my teeth but people tell me I have nice teeth. Just brush your teeth often and all will be well.
