Press A & B when you release the Pokeball, hold the B button when the Ball opens, and mash A when it hits the ground

What "catching" rituals did/do you do? Do you mash the A button? Do you have a set of steps that you always follow when you're trying to catch a Pokemon?

As a kid, there was the belief that pressing 'A' would help increase the rate of the success on catching the Pokémon when the ball was thrown. Even if nowadays I know it's not true, I still do it subconsciously.

I read somewhere that "only in FrLg" if you pushed Up and A and held them until the ball fell to the ground, then pushed R, L, R int he pattern that it shakes, then push A at the end, any normal PokeBall would ALWAYS act like a MasterBall. Of course I only tried it out out of curiosity, but it's a habit that carried over from Sapphire(and I guess LeafGreen) to Y even though the ball shakes in the opposite pattern. :/

I did the one where you hit the D pad in the opposite direction of the Pokeball. Realizing that it wasn't working, I stopped doing that. lol It didn't last long anyway.

No, the real thing worth noting here is that I did catching dances. When I was trying to snag Greevil's full team of Shadow Pokemon in Gale of Darkness, I would dance in my seat as a means of good luck...I don't even know why I ever thought that would work.

Up and mash A. Been that way since I can remember. Probably 1st gen.

    ...I still do it sometimes, and I know it doesn't do anything. -_-;

I didn't really have one for catching Pokémon, but there was one for Red/Blue that said if you held A until it said your Pokémon used an attack and then let go immediately, it would get a you a critical hit.

I used to do the same what is mentioned in the op for a long time. But now I dont care. Now I use the trick og getting the pokemon using only one pokeball by using savestates.
Many of the mons in my teams have actually been bored with me continuosly catching and they trying to escape. At last they say"Well fuck looks like you are not gonna give up.Alas!I will give up'.

Yeah haha, 5 years ago I used to believe that if you mash the A button when catching a Pokemon, the success rate will go up.

I don't do any catching "rituals" now, I realized it wasn't true when I turned 11.

When it comes to catching "rituals," I do have some for when I attempt to catch a Pokemon. Sometimes I chant, "catch, catch, catch." Other times I say, "I need to see three wiggles and a click. Not a break free, not one wiggle and break free, not two wiggles and break free, and not three wiggles and break free."

Back around Diamond/Pearl's release, I read somewhere that saying "Gotcha!" into the mic would increase the catch rate a ton, which I ended up doing for a long while for some stupid reason.

When Ruby/Sapphire came out, my brother told me that pressing down A when the ball was shaking would increase the chances of catching a Pokémon. I then tested it on Regice, and caught it with my first Poké Ball. I now know I was just lucky, but back then I thought this was the real deal so I made a habit of it.

10+ years later, and I'm still holding the A button even when throwing a Master Ball. Some habits are just hard to kick I guess!

I never really caught onto the rumour that pressing B a lot increases the chance of a successful capture. I once almost fell for it, but these days I don't let silly stuff like that lure me in.

Haha.. I remember doing something like this. It's been sooo long since I played a Pokémon game though, so let me try to remember...

As soon as the ball was thrown, I'd tap A once, then when the ball opened to 'absorb' the Pokemon, tap A again. Once the ball dropped the the ground, tap A once more; and one tap for every bounce. Once it settles, and starts rocking back, and forth, I'd tap A for each time it rocked.

I had another Weird thing thing I did, when I was in a battle. I'd literally mash the A button repeatedly; as fast as I could when I used an attack, and when I was hit by an attack, I'd do the same thing, but with B instead. I'd also mash the B button as fast as I could when I was attacking a Pokémon, and I didn't want it to 1-hit it, so I could try to catch it at like 1hp.

Wow I never realized how much I did this haha
I pressed select when I threw the pokeball then once it opended start for a second then held a till it clicked or released lol
I did it in mainly diamond and Emerald my first 2 Pokemon games but ended up seeing myself still do it sometimes xD
