And me, XD. I don't think I could manage translating a full song like that, and making it awesome to boot. But good for you for doing just that. :D

1) I don't know, XD. Yokote never thought about answering that. =P
2) But there are male beings in the sea, as we have seen.
3) Fish? XD Doubtful as I assume they're herbivores.

6) I assume Mermaids aren't as close to their parents as humans are. Human children stay with their parents longer than most, if not all other animals.
7) But the mermaids must have gills as well, seeing as you can't survive underwater with just lungs.
 
Here's my usual process:

1. Listen to the song to learn where the rhythms fall

2. Find a translation of the words (or Babelfish them, if you're really desperate)

3. Go through the song line by line, trying to write English words (or your target language's words) that have the same idea is the rough translation and still match the rhythms. Don't be afraid of adding in words, taking words out, or rewording an awkward line to make sense--the ultimate goal is for the song to be understood by those that speak the target language. If there's already words in your target language in the song, leave those alone, unless they sound awkward. Be prepared to stop, start, and rewind a lot.

4. Once you have your first draft of the song completed, sing what you wrote (or say them) along with the original and see how well they match. Also listen for lines that sound awkward in the target language--sometimes what looks good on paper doesn't sound good when sung.

5. Once you've ID'ed parts that need revision, go back and revise. More stopping, starting, and rewinding occurs here. Then sing or say the revised draft. Repeat until you have a draft you're happy with.

6. Save this final draft and share, if you wish
 
GAH, too complicated.

My conclusion: every anime has about a hundred million unanswered questions. I have lots more you know. ;)
 
I know my explanation of writing "English" versions sounds hard, but the only thing hard about it is writing the first draft--and all the stopping, starting, and rewinding

Using Google Translate, I managed to get Assoluto Amore an English translation. And a Return to the Sea one. And a Birth of Love one :3

But rather than post them here, I can give links to some videos which also happen to be mine; not trying to advertise my account or anything, but...

Well, in their human form... But the princesses probably have to, so they can learn how to rule their desired location.

I honestly want to say both her parents are women, seeing how all the mermaids are female. Unless mermaids can be born from one mermaid and a human man... But let's not go into details, now ^^'

7) How can Hippo breathe underwater if he's a penguin?
Once again, magic. And... Well... If you've read at least to the end of volume four of the manga, or finished a good portion of the anime, you would know...

So yeah.
 
Oh yeah, that reminds me...Rina says 'Cool Shine Pitch' in the manga. I find that kind of weird. >_>
 
Hanon says "Pretty *star here* Sugar Pitch!" and Caren says "Cutie Hot Pitch!", which I find weirder than "Cool Shine Pitch!" (Rina actually says that when you play Star Jewel in the third and final MMPPP game released for the GBA; I forgot if Hanon says her line from the manga, as with Caren). And Cool Shine Pitch sort of has a nice ring to it, if you ask me XD
 
Yeah, but it's weird when you're used to 'Love Shower Pitch'. Cutie Hot Pitch? XD
 
XD I have only read volumes 1 & 5 of the manga(the only ones they had available at my bookstore), but I intend to catch the rest online. Yes, the manga is more mature, so I may just fall for it moreso than with the anime.

I like the "Cool Shine Pitch," though "Cutie Hot Pitch" makes me think twice about Caren's personality, lol.

As for the birth thing, as I said there are non-human, non-mermaid males living in the sea, though we don't see them much. Hippo is one; Kaito is another. XD
 
I may give Dolce Melodia the Google Translate treatment and see if that's any better than Babelfish.

4) I have no idea, they are probably just gifted that way.

Hmmm...good...but hey, why don't you change 'This melody I hear at dawn' to 'This melody that I hear at dawn'? It seems to fit a bit better. The rest of the song is great though. :D
 
I didn't put "that" in that sentence because then it would throw the rhythm off--I considered it, but decided against it.
 
Really? Somehow, when I sing it, the end always goes 'da-awn'.
 
Hm--when I tested it, it came out one syllable on two notes--not two syllables on two notes
 
It takes a lot of rewinding starting and stopping, but it's worth it.

I can attempt more of the Italian versions, if you wish.

I could help with translating, too. If Google Translate fails me, I have a handy Italian phrase guide, with a dictionary in the back XD And a Japanese phrase guide, too XD

The Italian songs helped me figure out how Italians pronounce certain collections of words.
