I'm getting my braces tightened as we speak.
Has anyone else had braces before or currently? Any funny experiences with them?

I swear I am the only person who is my age without braces. I have had no braces but I had to have a few teeth extracted last year.

I had to get braces twice. No worse feeling than being free of braces and then like a year later, having to get them again. Not exactly a funny experience, but I do remember nearly choking to death a couple times eating like stringy, chewy stuff.

I've never had braces, but I don't have a perfect set of teeth either \: My dentist often tells me I should get them, but my parents don't think I need them or they're just too cheap XD Either way, my teeth aren't a huge issue as I don't show my teeth when I smile anyway.

I have braces but I'm getting an operation done for my weirdass tooth in March, so hopefully I'll get rid of them shortly after that. :D

I luckily have very straight teeth so I've never had to get braces. A few friends told me about their horrid experiences with them though, from them scratching the inside of their mouths and making it bleed to other cringe-worthy tales that I thankfully am forgetting. Ugh. :(

I had braces put in, both upper and lower, just before I quit high school. My first uni years were with braces, haha, could have had better timing 8) I remember thinking of them as a friend though! Felt kind of lonely in my mouth when they finally came out. And my teeth were all straight and shiny. Gone bit of crooked since, I believe. "Forgot" to use that plastic thingy I was supposed to keep in my mouth every night for two years or something. Oops. But even though they made me look slightly weird and sure did a number on the inside of my mouth in the beginning, I don't regret having them. I'd like to believe I was a pretty good braceface!

I have a noticeable overbite and dentists used to always tell me I needed braces, but my parents couldn't ever afford them. As long as my crooked teeth and overbite don't cause any health issues or pain, I don't really care; I used to be very self conscious of it and wouldn't smile with my teeth, but people have told me it looks cute, so I don't really care anymore. I'll smile if I want to!

I had braces for a year or two, when I was in grade 7, just to straighten my teeth out a bit. It hurt for like the first three days, but I actually really liked having braces lol. Maybe it was kind of weird of me, but I always thought braces looked cool. Every time I got them tightened I got to choose a different color for the rubber thingies (totally forgot what they were called) - I always went with bright colors and my friends would guess which I chose before I showed them. Fun times.

Yeah I had my wire scratch my cheek up a few times early on, but they haven't had to change my wire recently and they've been more cautious with it!

I actually had them twice! My mouth has always been a mess and that has required me to wear them a good portion of my life. The first set was taken off prematurely and a tooth that had not fully grown in yet messed up the work of the first set. They were a pain and I am so glad that I am done with them lol(hopefully :D)

I hate braces. I have to where a headgear at night and rubber bands 24/7. Not fun. :(

I've never had to get braces before, thankfully. Was about to when I was younger, but dentist said that I didn't need them. One of the things I hate most about braces is that food get stuck in 'em. If you ask me, that's sort of nasty. You could get them out with toothbrush, I suppose, but at the end of the day, some would still remain.

Oh man, I had a lot of orthodontic work done. Apparently my teeth were terrible.

    I've had
    • Braces on my top four front teeth by 4th grade. Had it for a few years.
    • Had a full set of braces by like 6th or 7th grade.
    • My upper jaw got expanded TWICE with a device that was turned with a key every night. Once in elementary, once in high school.
    • Had two different kinds of headgear due to severe underbite. One went behind my head and was used only at night, and the other went over my face and stayed on when I wasn't at school.
    • Eventually I went to retainers! My top teeth had a removable one, but my bottom one was a permanent one. I think it was supposed to come out eventually. It's still there and it's been like 10 years. Too poor to go see a dentist. :(

Braces weren't too terrible though. It got painful at times, and sometimes I bit my cheek or it got sore. But it was kind of fun to choose the bands that got put on the braces.

Even now, a good 10 years since I last saw an orthodontist, I still have Feelings about my orthodontic work. At least my teeth look decent. :)

I don't have braces but I need them to fix my bottom teeth. When I was growing up, my dentist insured me that my bottom teeth would fix themselves when the adult teeth grew in, but they never did.

Well i got my upper set of teeth in september, and my lower set i got this month actually i think it was the 10th...? Yeah. I remember my first day with bracers i ate a cookie eith some filling or something inside and i couldnt chew it, swallowed a big piece and i puked in a trash can. And on the school floor. That was quite embarrasing actually, no hard feelings towards the doc tho.

When I was younger, I kept getting told things like: "Oh, you're probably gonna need braces soon" "Oh, you're probably definitely gonna be getting braces", from various people, for a while. Mostly from relatives, actually.

...Yeah, guess what, apparently I didn't actually need them that badly, since I never actually got them. :P I'm a bit thankful for that, since I do remember worrying about things like "omg how would I ever deal with having them" and whatnot.
