    [PokeCommunity.com] Microsoft - E3 Conference Discussion

Yup, Microsoft is going to have a E3 conference again this year, with no specific details about the conference, except from an announcement that they will announce a "new exclusive IP". There's also going to be a Xbox Fanfest, where 500 fans during the week of E3 will have access to the Xbox E3 2015 briefing on June 15, as well as VIP access to the Celebrity Challenge and a Twitch Party.

    Some optional discussion questions:

What do you expect or hope from Microsoft's conference this year?
    Share any other thoughts here!

*Be aware that this thread is open for discussion before, during, and after their E3 conference!*

Inafune and the creatures of Metroid Prime, huh? Gotta say, I'm digging the aesthetic. Looking forward to the gameplay.

HOLY SHIT BACKWARDS COMPATABILITY YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. This is fantastic, my 360's disc drive, has been broken for years, and...God...this is great.

And Fallout 4 can use PC mods? Now there's actually a reason to get if for consoles. Same with future ES games, hopefully. Wonder how it'll work, though...

Huh, well that was fun. Looking forward to Sony and Nintendo.

New IPs, meaning the system will actually have some exclusives for once, backwards compatibility, mods, and some decent trailers for established franchises. Plus the Minecraft thing was pretty cool (though if you like that, you should see how it works with other things).

Probably won't be the show winner, but it has set a certain bar.

Huh, pretty solid conference. Nothing that made me jump out of my seat, every 'big' game that came up I expected one way or another, but it was still a good showing. Backwards-compatibility is a great addition and probably will convince more people who are still on the 360 to upgrade.

Can't wait for Sony and Nintendo!

Wow, just wow... MS definitely stepped up their game here. Phil truly nailed it with the comment of the best lineup so far.
Backwards compatibility is definitely a big thing.
But what really got me was the presentation of augmented reality.

Pretty good. I'm not extremely excited, but I do have an actual reason to get an Xbox One if I wanted one. We finally got more look into The Division, which I had been personally excited for. Now we wait for Sony and Nintendo. In the meantime, we have EA and Ubisoft (...yah?)

Now that backwards compatibility is confirmed, it's time for my brother and I to get an Xbox One (Hello, Killer Instinct!). Didn't Spencer said the conference will focus on only exclusives, because a couple of the titles such as Tom Clancy's The Division are mutli-platform.

Let's see...Mirror's Edge Catalyst, New Sims 4 Expansion (most likely), Plants vs. Zombies GW2, EA Access, The Division, The Siege, Assassin's Creed 27, possibly a new Splinter Cell (hopefully less AC inspired than the last) and...possibly maybe a new Prince of Persia? That's a stretch, though. Oh, and Tomb Raider. Aaaand possibly Titanfall 2.

So...it's really a "your mileage may vary" situation. I'm looking forward to the new The Sims 4 expansion and MEC, and last year I was interested in The Division and The Siege, though I can't say I'm too excited (but I might give 'em a watch). But who knows, it'll at least be something.

It's not the games I'm worried about, it's presentation that I feel hesistant about. I don't feel EA and Ubisoft had a good presentation last year despite their good showing of games.

I would kill for a new Prince of Persia with the Sands of Time features. It's been so long. Well... Forgotten Sands was sorta that, but it wasn't the best game in the series.

Maaan, what a solid showing from Microsoft. Second year in a row that I regret not defecting to Xbox, as that system seems to have a lot more of the platform-y, cutesy and colourful games I've come to love of the years, compared to PS4's gritty realism and flop-tastic triple AAA platformer (looking so hard at you, Knack).

Garden Warfare 2 could be neat, but I didn't see much impress me with Microsoft this time. Halo 5 and Gears 4 are continuing to milk series that should've ended where their original creators intended. Oh well.

Funny that you mention those specifically, because I found that the quality of Microsoft's conference was pretty much everything else.

Though the backwards compatibility was easily the highlight. The new IPs looked pretty interesting, too, I'd say.

So you liked it or didn't? I couldn't quite tell by the "pretty much everything else" line, haha.

I hear Backwards is only for 18 games though. :/

Huh, 18? I'm pretty sure they said over 100 at launch. I could recheck, but I thought I remember it being a pretty good number, and definitely a simple process for the developers/publishers.

But yeah, I liked it. It wasn't mindblowing but the "everything else", being the ID games, new IPs, and whatever else was shown besides the more established franchises (which, surprisingly, were the least interesting parts of the show even for the viewers) were pretty interesting. And they got to show off Halolens, which I had prior knowledge of but is pretty cool when applied to gaming or otherwise.

As I said above, it probably won't be a show winner, but it did set a certain bar, not high, not low. Sony kept their game up, though, so it seems the only one left to play this little game of high jump is Nintendo.

Really happy with how the conference went. The Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is awesome, something that the XB1 has been really missing. Halo 5 & Gears 4 look pretty fun, but the problem I had with the conference is that not enough gameplay was shown. Dark Souls 3 looks, well, they showed no gameplay! I can't be excited about a game announcement when they don't show actual gameplay. The new Rare game looks like great fun and the Rare compilation announced looks like crazy good value.

I loved the new user interface that they introduced for Xbox One. Much of us could agree that its current design seems to resemble Windows a little too closely, which sort of does make Xbox One UI look less... special. Hopefully, this'll help removing the issue.

I'm excited to install and try my hands on it!
