Modern Warfare 2

Whats "boosting" and how do you do it?

And does anyone enjoy Spec Ops? Its boring compared to Nazi Zombies IMO...

I was in a boosting game once. Was fun waiting till the whole other team went onto a cp then just nading them all.

I have done all the first and second set of missions on my own. Haven't tried the rest yet but I ill try some later. Only ones I haven't done are the 2 player missions. Never have anyone to play with.

Wth is boosting and how do you do it?

Well there are a few different kinds of boosting. Shield boosting is what you do to level up. Basically to do it you get a friend to join the other team and use a riot shield, all he does is stand there and let you shoot at him which racks up tons of match bonus points. When you run out of ammo you let him kill you and then you start over again.

Nuke boosting is where you get a friend on the other team again, they put down a tactical insertion and they keep letting you kill them over and over until you get a nuke.

Also, I find Spec Ops pretty boring as well. Zombies was so much better.

Oooooooh! Didnt know there was a name for it! Lolz. Yeah, I think im gonna try that! lol.

Spec Ops is really not fun alone. You really need to play it with a friend to enjoy it, in my opinion.

I've beaten 10 or so missions with a buddy and it really is enjoyable.

And yeah, I wasn't aware they were "boosting" until after the match started. I thought we were just playing a game, but I'm not thrilled I did it since I got like..tons of equipment for guns I really wanted to earn myself. But oh well.

I don't know why you would. IMO it tarnishes anything you've done on CoD and you can't say you got your level legit since you boosted at some point.

Yeah I know, but it may be the only way I can Nuke anyone :/

Nothing is more rewarding in MW2 than to have gotten a kill streak legitimately. I never though I'd get a 20 kill streak, but last night, I actually did. XD I just managed to kill enough guys for the Predator missile, which killed two guys, then I got the Harrier, then another few kills via that and myself, I got the Pavelow, which got me up to 20 or more. XD Probably the funnest ever.

And along with that, during the Gaming Event, I unlocked the AC-130 and actually got it the first round I played with it on. XD

The Javelin is plain stupid if you ask me and it doesnt make sense. Dont you have to die to set it off?

Yes that was the only way to do the stupid javelin glitch. The new patch now is even worse; 18 player private glitched rust free-for-all matches with infinite ammo + sprayers, campers, and noob tubers just kills your kd! I hate joining them whenever I try to search for ground war matches and I end up in one of them. I only actually get a good kd off the rust match camping at spawn points which I think is really stupid. >.>

Someone inform me when IW releases the damned patch to fix the "Infinite Ammo" glitch/hack/virus.

Until then, I'm not playing.

I am starting to get really annoyed with all of these campers on 'Free-for-all' matches.

7 games I went into tonight had every single one of them with heartbeat sensors and they were camping. Was beyond annoying.

This just happened to me today, but I thought is was the most fun I have ever had in matchmaking so far. Sure, it's a glitch in the servers, but it's damn enjoyable if you ask me. Auto AC-130 105mm cannons rip up everything.

I got freaked out when I got dropped in the game at first, but after a few rounds I got used to it and started to have lots of fun.

It should be fixed soon, no doubt tons of complains are coming in,

Well then you aren't really getting it yourself. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't want to do something like that knowing forever that the only nuke(s) I'd gotten are the ones that I cheated for.

OMG, I saw 2 guys earlier whao we already on Prestige 5... Wow.
No big deal... I've seen people on 10th prestige.

Yeah, I think im gonna try that! lol.
Boosting takes the fun away from getting it on your own. Maybe it be boosting XP, boosting weapons, boosting nukes, or kills. On CoD4 I got the gold AK-47 (Assault), M1014 (Shotgun), Dragonov (Sniper), and Mini-Uzi (SMG) all of them I got legit. The gold M60 (LMG) I boosted for it just to get it done (I got Red Tiger for the RPD and that was about it, because I can't stand LMGs). After it was all said and done... I looked back at the legit weapons and was proud of them because I put hours and hours and hours and hours into them weapons and I had something to be proud of (and also it means you can use any weapon out there). The M60 on the other hand, I didn't have that feeling because I boosted for it, I don't regret it but it's a "I don't give a flip about the gold M60" type of thing. So if you boosted to get your first nuke, or boosted to get this or that camo you might be happy for a short while but in the end you didn't play right to get that camo, or get that nuke. Just like I didn't play right to get the gold M60 (that's why I always say "I got all my gold weapons legit other then the LMG").

The javelin patch has ruined the game.

Since then I've seen 18-man Rust games and infinite grenade launch matches.

IW need to sort it out.
Personally... I'll take the 18 player games over the javelin glitch.

So use Ninja. None of the other green perks out does Ninja so it shouldn't be a big deal.

You guys make me feel low for having the desire to take the easy route! :( Lol, I just know that Im not getting a nuke anytime soon so I have no choice.

I only do Spec ops to get the trophys. Other than that I don't play it at all. Nazi Zombies was more fun as there where 3/4 of us that always used to play together and we made a good team. Now if we play it has to be online or we would have to leave one out to do spec ops.

Having to unlock weapons (or items, etc) in a game is a poor way at extending the life of a game. If I want to use a specific weapon I shouldn't have to play X amount of hours or complete X amount of challenges.
There's a reason why a few of the recent fighting game releases (PSN/XBLA release of Marvel vs Capcom 2, and the upcoming Super Street Fighter IV for example) have everything unlocked from the beginning and that's the fact that people don't want to spend time on unlocking things they may or may not use very much just so they can get a game to 100% completion.

It's an archaic game mechanic that has become more redundant and tedious than entertaining. There really isn't much sense of satisfaction to having spent so many hours on unlocking an item.
My satisfaction (if any) comes from how I use the item during the game.
