What was the hardest part of DPPt in regards to storyline progression. Any battles you just couldn't win?

For me, it would have to be Cynthia. She was very hard Champion (which you should expect and I very much liked). It took me countless tries, a lot of revives and hyper potions alongside copious strategy to finally take her down and claim the Pokemon Champion crown.

For me, it's all of the progress when I'm challenging Elite Four and the Champion, because their team is pretty solid that it's hard to take all of them down unless if I'm having appropriate team. Non-battle wise, though, the hardest part was the routes near Snowpoint City, not to mention that I can't walk faster due to the thickness of the snow there, which means progressing into the story is harder as well because one of the important key plot is there. Sometimes I wish there is a way to make visiting these routes faster in-game.

Likely the snowy routes leading up to Snowpoint City, with that annoying deep snow and blizzard being the worst offenders. Like Windy said, the Elite Four is also incredibly difficult, in fact I recall I was never able to defeat them and that's probably why my playthroughs always went unfinished.

I'm happy to say it was Cynthia. Since Cynthia, champions have not been a challenge (6th gen has become a cakewalk with Exp. Share, as we all know.)

I think I actually had the most trouble with her Milotic.

I wish I could recall my team, but all I remember is Lopunny, Gastrodon and Luxray.

The marsh. I don't like to play these games because of this point...

The whole regions map is confusing to me. I can't tell which order im supposed to be doing the gyms so my team isn't totaly murdered. Reason I havent finished one of these games yet....

Mount Coronet and Victory Road. I remember not know which entrance to come from in order to get to Spear Pillar, and it took me such a long long time as a kid to get out of Victory Road. Had to look up a video in the end...

Platinum is definitely one of my fave games because of its rather challenging (for a pokemon game) pace.

Platinum definitely had many parts in the game where i could consider it a great wakeup call if one isn't playing carefully. One thing that got me smiling was those SURPRISE MOFO Ace trainers with pokemon of higher power level than what you might have for most of the early game hell. There's also those foggy areas where it makes fighting those said Ace Trainers in those areas without Defogging the crud out of those places would make those fights even more annoying to push through because of the constant misses that one might experience, especially if RNGesus decides to troll the crap out of you.

There's also the Journey to Mt. Coronet to Distortion World. The journey itself was quite long, and it was rather difficult for me to stomach through the walk, endless wild encounters, and that simple fact that if you ever screw up in any point during this plot-significant portion of the game, especially during the final Cyrus Battle in the Distortion Road, you'd have to do everything all over again.

Absolutely Mt. Coronet. To this day I hate that cave more than any other cave in Pokémon, even more than navigating Dark Cave in RBY without Flash. Despite that though, DPPt remains one of my favorite Pokémon games ever.

Cynthia's team are crazy, particularly that Garchomp and Milotic, they are real brutal. Battling her makes me nervous, seriously.

Ah yes those were the two Pokemon I always feared from her, because of their respective power and bulkiness. She'd likely be the reason why all my Sinnoh playthroughs went unfinished.

Cynthia. More specifically, her team in Diamond/Pearl. Not only did she have a powerful team, it was also a lot higher in level than the Elite Four by quite a bit. Thankfully they lowered her levels in Platinum a bit, so she wasn't as much of a challenge.

Another battle that I've struggled with in Platinum was Cyrus in the Distortion World. The combination of Weavile and Gyarados always ends up really tough to beat, because my teams are always underleveled in Platinum.

To sum it up with one name, it is: Cynthia

Move to Platinum and it soon becomes Garchomp and Togekiss. That Toge just never dies.

As for me, my most troubling point was actually Mt. Coronet. Between it being a typical cave and it being littered with Team Galactic goons, the constant healing, team switching, HM slave management and item management made it a very annoying climb. It was worse for me since I had about 3 HM slaves, so...yeah, 3 capable Pokemon, 3 otherwise not. Fun.

Cynthia's actually not that bad for me, surprisingly. It's the guy before her: Lucian. ALAKAZAM I THOUGHT YOU WEREN'T EVIL.

Ugh dat Togekiss... I do love it but Cynthia's one is no fun at all. Speaking of Lucian, his Bronzong is pretty annoying due to just one weakness and high defensive stats.

I always hated Mt. Coronet because it made you always have to bring an HM Slave with you, in fact I feel Sinnoh is an even worse offender than Hoenn in regards to HM obstacles as far as I know.

Agreed! Mars was so hard for me! that Purugly would always just wreck my team, had to do serious grinding before battling it always. Second, any trainer with a Bronzong just caused me fits. Seriously, i hate battling that Pokemon. Lastly, I actually found navigating the Elite 4 and Cynthia to be pretty easy if i recall correctly. It was really simple in my eyes and that may just have something with the way i train and level up and set up my team, type-wise, but i don't know. Very interesting to see that others struggled. Might have to do another playthrough soon and see if i notice it this time.

Either the Cynthia battle or getting through the Giratina cave. Both very difficult.

In order of most difficult to challenging: Cynthia > Lucian > Final Cyrus battle for D/P. Haven't played Platinum yet though.
