Mythical Pokemon to be Distributed This Year

My Gamestop told me yesterday that they will have the Mew codes on Tuesday. Today is Tuesday, and they still haven't gotten the codes yet.

Picked my Mew up this morning in my local GAME...I even got asked if I only wanted one, so I got a second for my mother, haha. I might go down again before the end date and pick up a couple more!

They said they weren't sure about getting the others, which is a bit worrisome - if I can't get a Meloetta I am going to be very unhappy - but I guess I'll worry about it closer to the time. For now, Mew sits unclaimed on my Y, along with Diancie, Hoopa, Darkrai, and a shiny Charizard. I'll have enough for an event team by the time I start the game. Derp.

This is so exciting! I can't wait to get Mew, Genesect and others.

I have to say that when it comes to events, Nintendo hasn't been slacking in the last few years. Hopefully they keep this up.

I got my Mew code yesterday. However, the Gamestop employee who gave me one told me that it's only one per person, so I couldn't get a second code for one of my online friends, who has no game store in her location. I also would like to know if codes from the U.S. could still work on X,Y, OR, and AS from other regions outside of the U.S. like, say, Ukraine.

Nope codes are region specific. I had a US Diancie code and couldnt use it as im in the UK.

I've added a mini-FAQ to the original post to address some of the most commonly asked questions. (I'll clean up my terrible grammar later today!)

For those who have received their Mew so far, congrats! Hopefully more people are able to participate.

I have 2 GAME stores pretty much right next to each other so I managed to get 3, if you can go with a friend or a family member because they gave me 2 in one store because they thought my mum wanted one too lol.

It's definitely more polished now, and will help people get clarified about the main questions. Next month's event will be a wi-fi Celebi and I'll make sure to post if any information about international distribution details emerge. I didn't get credited in the OP for nothing you know!

Update on Celebi and Jirachi events:
Celebi & Jirachi distributions confirmed to be over Nintendo Network for Europe in March & April

So yeah, Celebi and Jirachi confirmed to be coming to Europe. Celebi will be available March 1-24, and Jirachi will be available April 1-24. Both are Mystery Gift wi-fi distributions on Nintendo Network.

I'm pretty sure details for the Australian leg will get announced in coming days as well, since it would not be right for my clan to miss out.

Just a little warning!

I work for Gamestop up in the Seattle area and I only know of two of our stores who even GOT any of the Mew Codes (our sister store nearby had an employee come over and crib one stack of 50 for his store because they had so much demand) and we each got like ~250-300 codes. As of tonight, we're completely out with no notice of any restock or that any other stores got them

So this is a warning: Nintendo didn't send enough of the Mew cards out to Gamestop Retailers, and most stores (with some stupid exceptions) had a 1 per person policy and are probably out now w/ no idea when we're getting more in.

What they should have done was a classic local WiFi distribution. These serial codes are kind of silly. GameStop should have a system that allows stores to download a auto-expiring distribution from Nintendo.

Now, people are unable to get cards, for various reasons, and might resort to other, more convenient methods of obtaining the Mew. Sad. I think the plushes should also be able to be bought directly from Nintendo in addition to the stores.

Well, meanwhile, I'm SOL: apparently, Mew is being distributed everywhere in Europe, except in France for some reason.

Sorry! I tried looking around, but I've forgotten a lot of my French! I couldn't find anything on pokemon20.com or nintendo.fr. If you happen to see something pop up, let us all know so I can put it on the first post.

All I could find in French is about Mew not being distributed in usual locations ^^.
I'll post an update if something changes, I pass by the store where they usually distribute Event-exclusives every day.

See the issue is, that's even worse for alot of places. I asked my boss about it and she basically told me that our store wouldn't be able to distribute them if it had been wi-fi because (a) our mall had a strict no internal wifi policy even for events, and (b) Nintendo's portable wi-fi servers are apparently such a hassle to set up that its not worth doing (I know about half the McDonald's near us didn't even bother because of how hard it was to set up).

I agree with you that theses serial codes suck, all of these events should be distributed via Wi-Fi worldwide instead of local Wi-Fi distributions in GameStop and other game stores because it's the modern and fair way to distribute them. Serial code and local Wi-Fi distributions should've been left to the 00's.

That isn't surprise when we know that Nintendo lives in the 00's when it comes to Wi-Fi things.

I agree, serial code events are annoying in that they are in limited capacity, and that means people miss out. Local wi-fi distributions are at least better, but Nintendo and Game Freak definitely have to adjust to what the future wants, and that is more global wi-fi events.
