  • A bit sad that they aren't making the protagonist a female though, since there is a male rival that would make the most sense for the sake of balance. But I guess it's still mostly aimed towards boys who identify themselves better with a male protagonist, so oh well.
Well... we haven't had any female protags until Crystal so it makes sense protagonists here are both male =)

The characters sure do look a lot like they did in FR/LG rather than in R/B/Y and there was a female protagonist there, so I think it would have been better with a female (Leaf or what she's called) in the lead role! But for the reasons I said, I understand that there isn't.

Also what is happening with Red and Charizard at the end?? Are they in water? Are they merging reburst-style? Charizard looks so fat :D

I couldn't sleep last night just thinking about it; I mean, it's based on the games, and Ash isn't in it, and the story is ACTUALLY SOMEWHAT CANON

Can I get a bottle of water? I think I need a bottle of water.

  • With the exception of Mewtwo Returns, The Legend of Thunder, the tenth anniversary special, the Mystery Dungeon series and the Pokémon Ranger specials. Plus, if they count, several of Pikachu's Winter Vacations and most of the Pokémon Chronicles episodes.

Quite a few... so, there is still hope? :)

Yet the fact remains TPCI didn't dub the Brock and Dawn specials.

I just read something on another forum where someone made a good point and I agree with them so I'll repost that point here...

    1. TPCi probably cares more about business than Japan, meaning they wouldn't dub something like this since it doesn't tie in into any current games.

    2. TPCi did not dub the Dawn or Brock special back in 2011, and they technically take place in regions that are "old", so why would they dub this?

    In summary...

    Stop getting your hopes up.

I doubt they're actually in water- it looks more like a surreal type thing that anime likes to do.

What gets my attention about the same scene, though, is the thing Red has in his hand that is way too shiny to be a Pokeball that he holds up to Charizard. Right after that, you can briefly see a light that looks a lot like the beginning of the Mega evolution animation...

...or maybe that is a Pokeball and they're just being overly dramatic about Red recalling Charizard, I dunno.

  • Well, well, well...

No Ash, no Pikachu, no Jesse & James, things looking more mature and subdued compared to the anime that's currently airing... I don't even like anime in general, but for some reason I feel like I have to see this.

  • I logged in to the Pokecommunity after a long break just to see what people's thoughts were about this. I'm wondering why more people aren't excited. (Maybe not many people know? Only a Japanese trailer is available.) This is the kind of anime I've been waiting for since the games first came out. In fact, this is what I was hoping the Pokemon anime would be like... instead the Pokemon anime took a shape of it's own and strayed as far as possible from the feel of the games.

I'm in love with the art style, which reminds me of the art style of the instruction booklet as if this new series was completely drawn by Ken Sugimori himself. I'm loving this and I'm so excited. I'll be a very happy Pokemon / Nintendo fan this fall. I feel like a kid again looking forward to all the cool stuff that's coming our way soon! (Pokemon XY, Pokemon Anime, Zelda, etc.)

  • Wow, I'm surprised people are questioning so hard as to what this is. To sum it up, much like when Pokemon Chronicles first popped up(Then later ended), Pokemon Origins is definitely a gauge of interest on whether or not to make this into a full anime. Pokemon Chronicles ended up failing, due to people missing Pikachu or whatever(According to threads during the broadcasting period). So yeah, it's really up to Japan's viewers, unless they do decide to dub this, then it's also our call.

Anyway, I love that they're trying something new revolving characters I'm so familiar with, just disappointed they're not the manga versions. And from the looks of those pics, it doesn't seem like they're using the opportunity to introduce Blue(Green), which is a shame considering how much GameFreak wanted to include her in the games back in the day. Regardless though, I'll be looking for subs or vice versa during the premiere.

Reminds me of Ethan/Gold's special. Too bad it failed, a potential series could have developed. It may have been too early, but at this point people are tired of Ash, I sure as hell am. It'll feel weird without him of course, but ****...they need to change things. Enough is enough. Ash hasn't even grown.

Plus I've always liked Red/Green, they will always be the best trainers to me. So I'm definitely hoping for a series(lol I bet the people that were trolling about how Green name changed to Blue is butthurt).

  • OK guys what's new about this new spinoff anime. How many episodes will this be based on. At least if is not following anime but of Red and Green it will be still worth watching. Ash will be missed by me in this but that's cool

I hope that they will try to make it seem a bit more realistic. Instead of having pokémon saying their own name and having some kind of flashy moving background when they make their attacks, I hope we'll get to see stuff more like how it was done in the BW2 trailer. Sounds instead of spoken names, and pokémon moves being performed directly in the "real world" or what to call it.

    Meaning I'd prefer this:

  • Haha! I can't believe it took me this long, raving about to realize "Hey, PC must totally have a thread on this!" AND IT DOES. I am very excited to see this, it will be awesome, especially if they take it up a more serious note like they do in the games.

I mean the games are fairly tame, but stuff like the dead Marowak and "Ghosts", with Team Rocket's underground operations with the Casino, and discovering the experiments in the charred remains of Cinnabar Mansion seem too me I guess more... mature? Idk I'm at a loss for a good word here.

Even if it's not popular enough to keep running (they are a company, after all) I would love to see it translate into a mini-webseries; free of fluff that doesn't occur in-game. I never read the manga, so I don't know if it's gonna be based on that detailed source material or the vague world of Red/Blue, where they can interpret a lot of what occurs throughout the gameplay.

Also, who else would love to see Lavender Tower played out with a horror angle? Where the Gastly and Haunter possessing the Mediums legitimately being evil, malicious spirits, rather than pranksters? (don't get me wrong, I LOVE this scene *vid in the spoiler below*, but I feel like it'd be a cool new dimension to portray them in while they're in a different universe, so to speak).

    Spoiler:

From the trailer and information we have, we will see the beginning until battle with Brock and meeting with Lance and then we might see the Elite Four...

Isn't it strange and too early to show Lance and the elites when Red has only obtained one Gym badge or let's say battled one gym leader?

  • No offense, but when it comes to comprehension and being articulate, many people seem to fail here on those principles alone.

Take a look at where Red talks to Lance. What do you see? Does the room look familiar to you? If it does than its because its that very same room that Red fought Lance at one FR/LG.

In other words, this special is going to basically pace through the adventure.
