Copy/pasted the post count for your last VPP. Glanced through new posts. Appears to have requested this one right as the prior one finished (4202). Set the starting point to that. Brought you one Emperor Pokemon at the seasonal rate.

Swims at the speed of a jetboat. Searched for that speed. Clocks that at around 90 kilometers per hour (~56 miles per hour), according to one site. (Probably varies.) Makes it slower than the fastest swimming creature on Earth (a Sailfish, capable of 110 kilometers per hour or 68 miles per hour).

And interestingly, only way to move Empoleon faster is Aqua Jet, considering it's base speed of 60.


And Sharpedo's info says that it moves at speed of 75mph, which is roughly 120kmph. Plus it's base speed is 95. So if we do a simple calculation, we get that one unit of base speed contributes around 1.27 kmph.

So for Empoleon, it should be 60x1.27=76 kmph.


But according to it's info, it moves at 90kmph. So the relation turns out that 1 unit base speed = 1.5kmph . Hence for Sharpedo, the base speed should be 80, or it's swim speed should be 142.5 kmph.



Both facts are contradictory, it seems !!

Views Speed at least partially a reflexes thing, rather than pure movement speed. Feels like the speeds never match what the Pokedex entries indicate otherwise.

Came across another interesting information, but it slipped from the mind !!



Arcanine's entry says that it is capable of running more than 6200 miles in single day and night.

So, for sake of good looking number, I considered more than 6200 mile to be 6214 miles, which converts to 10,000km.

And single day and night refers to 24 hrs most probably.

Therefore the speed comes out to be :

10,000/24 ≈ 417 km/h


As you also know, speed of sound in air is around 1235 km/h (345 m/s). Hence Arcanine runs at almost 1/3rd the speed of sound.

Quite interesting !!
