live swinging the banhammer like he was PokeCommBot 8)

The bot has locked, muted and banned Christos, Castform and other users such as King Syn, multiple times. PokeCommBot is great, no matter what its victims say.

Yeah, by both Castform and Christos, whom both panicked after that because they broke it and wolf had to repair it.

We finally managed to weaken it though, at least it can't hurt us anymore

user oddish on the other hand is a different story

I think the IRC channel has a bot under a similar name, but the Battle Server has a bot of its own, too! I could be wrong, but I don't think the parameters for the IRC bot are specifically configured so it can ban for x amount of lines; which is the issue with the battle server's bot constantly muting moderators when it wasn't supposed to.

The stupid bot was just out to get me because I was a better staff member than it.

Well, sometimes the bot can make some false alarms when anybody types some lines with no intention of spamming, and that's no good indeed.

Meanwhile, I still remember a bot somewhere in a certain server which is not just for the bans and kicks, it was also able to utilize its battle mode too when you want. I think sometimes bots can be developed this advanced.

The IRC's PokeCom[bot] is simply a shadow of SystemNet's IRC services. It promotes and demotes people and I think Steve/Jake can make it talk, and that's it. idek what you guys need a bot for anyway lol, since it's causing so much trouble

The bot is useful for muting spammers when we arent around or arent fast enough. It also detects banned words and autobans blacklisted members. So it's very useful. It's just kinda mean to nice users )<

that bot knows it's place now.

because Chase is a weenie

Something tells me you should hire more @s

And I'm so confused as to why you don't like % and &. I mean, KISS is great and all, I love their music, but sometimes hierarchy really helps in making sense of things, and appropriating power too.

Drivers are essentially the same thing as moderators, just without the power to ban (and modchat). They were deemed unnecessary due to the reasoning that you may as well trust someone with full mods if you're going to give them any sort of power. The same also applies to &, though to much larger extent; as you're granting them administrative capabilities and jurisdictions; so administrator promotions (if I'm correct on this), as a result, are super rare.
> staff not having access to staffchat

well okay then. honestly I see things like % as a position you give a seemingly sound and contributive member, and if they're good they move up. If they went haywire all would not be lost.

I can see how & may be more redundant though, but halfop is quite useful. I think some IRCds have halfop in addition to op and voice but not owner and admin, so it is quite useful. But that was a long time ago.

and I'll be perfectly honest and say every time the word 'driver' is mentioned I'm picturing my old squad leader Cody Driver behind the wheel of a HUMVEE. Thanks for the thought ;)

May I ask where you got this from o.o?
you said drivers don't have access to modchat, and that seems a bit counterintuitive. :/

The general idea behind drivers in the first place is that they're "mods-in-training". The thing is, PC Battle Server is rather small, so it's counterproductive to assess a particular driver's capabilities if they're really not given much to work with to begin with.
Yeah. See what I wrote about modes below, I understand.

Drivers on PS =/= halfops on IRC. The biggest difference between halfops and Ops on IRC is generally due to permissions as you might've already known. halfops can set a specific amount of chan modes, ops can set more, and I believe they also have permissions to promote people up to halfops in additional to having a small degree of control of the server bot and I think some other chanserv commands but I can be wrong on that. Mods on PS (generally speaking) do not have these extensive permissions, and any administrative commands just defaults to either leaders (&) or admins (~)
At least with Anope IRC services, who can autopromote to what is entirely customizable. Personally I set it to where all ranks can temporarily (as in for their current session) promote up to one rank below their own, and & can set to autopromote up to @ while ~ can set to autopromote that and & and ~.

But then again I can see where y'all come from. If there was a mode system on the BS I imagine it would be far more relevant.

So is + on the BS completely pointless or what

Anyway, I found this hilarious thing on Imgur, with multi-dimensional humour:

That + sign in Showdown vocabulary is a rank called "Voiced" and here at our server the only purpose of the rank is so users (at least ones who come on regularly and are proven to have good battling skills) can create a tournament, and also be spared from silence when a modchat is on.

I'm at the bottom of the barrel ranks-wise, at regulars which is the low-class people who don't get any fancy symbols near their names and cannot do anything during a modchat except private contact. I was a voice in 2013, but only lasted a few months in the role and then the criteria changed and it said I was no longer deemed worthy.

I guess having nothing special going for me was what eventually lead to the huge decline there activity-wise since mid last year. So while voiced members may look pointless, the features they get are things staff also get so yeah... it is pointless.
