Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America
Timothy McGregor was a military man during the Cold War where he was deployed to Angola where the US was engaged in a proxy war against communist forces. It was experience that greatly affected the young McGregor, he grew to become sterner and more regimented, he learned to think quickly despite his average intellect and above all else he began to develop strong ideas about "right and wrong". During his service McGregor earned a Good Conduct Medal, Soldier's Medal and Valorous Unit Award (along with the rest of his unit) and developed a strong respect for chains of command.
Upon his return from Angola, Timothy served from within the US for a few more years before leaving the military. Shortly after he moved to Las Vegas. McGregor spent the next few months working odd jobs to found himself whilst he trained at the academy to become a police officer. This was a stressful and tremulous time in McGregor's life and so he often spent his free time around bars and casinos developing alcohol and smoking habits. He was careful to maintain a balance though, he was never drunk when he worked or at the academy.
Tim spent his next few years after graduating walking a beat, like most police do. However he had learned the values of hard work through his time in the military so he began to move up in the ranks until he was able to earn his place as a homicide detective. At first Tim took the new placement in stride, in fact he enjoyed his work so much that he smoked and drank less. Over the next several years Timothy McGregor was in his prime, he earned many distinctions for his tireless efforts, work ethic and his high success rate. It came as no surprise then when he received a string of promotions and eventually rose to the rank of a Lieutenant. During this time of success Timothy managed and had his first child. Life was good.
Timothy had only a few men under his rank when he was in the military, he was uncustomed to holding as much power and responsibility as he did. The stress began to get to him and he soon returned to his habits of drinking and smoking to manage his stress. As work continued to take a toll on him, his life at home suffered. He argued with his wife and his child grew distant from him, when he wasn't working he was almost always drunk and he was rarely home.
Timothy threw himself into his work harder than ever, trying to keep away from his struggles at home. During this time Tim's captain retired and he was promoted to fill his place, his workload and responsibility increasing as he struggled to hide from the challenges in his life. This only lead to him becoming more and more stressed and his relationships becoming more strained.
A particularly trying case threw Timothy over the edge, a series of terrible murders had occurred and the police – including Timothy – were completely stumped. More and more people died and several police were killed before the culprit was apprehended. Tim couldn't handle the stress; he couldn't handle his doubts and remorse. He sunk deep into alcoholism; he was never home, he was constantly drunk; he had hangovers at work that made it hard for him to concentrate. During this time his wife left him, taking their child. McGregor sank into a deep depression as a result.
A few months later Timothy realised that he had to deal with his problems if he wanted to fix his life and repair his relationships with his ex-wife and his daughter. He took an indefinite leave of absence from work, using the considerable amount of paid leave he'd amassed and decided to travel. He used this time to relax, to study and to improve upon himself. Not long after he returned to work and now finding he could handle the stress planned a second trip. It would drain he last of his leave, but that wasn't important to Tim.
When the outbreak hit, Timothy cashed in his remaining leave early. He'd been intending to visit his ex-wife and his daughter but now he was going to ensure their safety. Unfortunately whilst he was waiting for his connecting flight, the outbreaks intensified and he was forced into the plane heading for the shelter by the military, although he'd struggled as much as he could it was hard to argue with a machine gun. Now in his fifties Timothy McGregor has found himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse without his gun, with his authority all but gone and no knowledge of his family's fate.
Despite the considerable reduction to his drinking, Tim is still a heavy smoker and carries a large box of assorted cigarettes with him at all times.
3 Strength - Despite having put on a fair few pounds since moving to the desk, Timothy has retained a lot of his physical strength, especially since he took up weights during his soul searching.
3 Intelligence - Tim is no genius, but he's got a good deductive mind that's been trained through his work and a wealth of knowledge relating to his previous occupations and areas of study.
2 Agility - Tim might be quite strong and be trying to get healthier, but he's still put on a fair bit of weight since he was younger and he still smokes heavily. He can put out sudden bursts of speed but his stamina is much lower than it once was and he's slower now that he can't breath as clearly and is carrying more weight.
2 Charisma - Tim has a tendency to be rather blunt and occasionally a bit gruff. He's not a bad guy and he's not hated, but he's not the most lovable guy around either.
