Isn't Boomburst the strongest non signature move without side effects? Considering even in X and Y, when it was introduced, there were already multiple Pokemon that got it besides Noivern and Exploud.

Sure it can be neutralized with Soundproof, but nobody uses that ability anyway.

Ah yes, I forgot about Boomburst when I made that post. Not many Pokémon learn it though, but its only downside is (again) an immunity and hitting your partners in Doubles and Triples. But aside from that, it breaks through substitutes since it's a Sound based move. That's scary.

In general it seems like signature moves aren't as special as they used to be.

I remember watching one of Wersters runs, when suddenly he started talking about how signature moves tend to downgrade quite a bit. Take for example Mach Punch: originally it was Hitmonchan's signatur move, but then Move Tutors happened and now basically every fighting type Pokemon can learn it. Another example is Mystical Flame. Originally being Delphox signature move, now in ORAS Mismagius can use it, too.

I wonder how long it will take for Origin Pulse and Pretzel Blade to become mainstream...

I'm not too concerned about signature moves, to be honest.

Generally, they tend to be available to legendary Pokémon only, such as Dialga, Ho-oh, Lugia, Palkia, and so forth, most of which who banned to Ubers tier. I believe this would be one reason as to why we don't find ourselves running into their sig attacks in the scene. In-game, however, it's likely a different story; if we find ourselves having a legend on our team, we're probably going to have their sig in their set.

Of all signature moves out there, I would say one of my most favorite would have to be Roar of Time. First is that it has quite a catchy name; if you ask me, it seems to suit Dialga's role pretty well, which is guardian of time (or something along the lines). Second, its animations are pretty beautiful-looking, especially one from Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. After this, is Sacred Fire, and third, it's probably Spacial Rend.

Ah yes Roar of time is pretty cool. It's my favorite move name-wise.
Although I cant get this picture out of my head lol.

Of the new signature moves I think one of my favorites would have to be Reshiram's Blue Flare. Its animation is pretty sick, that and it has a very high 130 base power and even has a better chance than most Fire-type attacks to burn the foe. Afterwards would be Palkia's Spacial Rend and Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent.

I decided to take on entire Red's team in SS with only my Arcanine. Fireblast for everyone except for Lapras and Blastoise who will get bitten by a Thunder Fang. Im training it to level 100. It will also be my first trained level 100 :D

I've already hit 40 hours in OR and the last thing I did was beating Wallace without any problems at all. With exception of my Latios, which is still level 30, my team's around level 45, but I feel so overpowered. That Groudon fight, though: my first attempt was an utter failure, only Latios survived its onslaught and watched how Groudon Struggeled itself to death. On my second attempt I just teached my Azumarill Bulldoze and caught Groudon with only one ball...oh Pokemon, y u so random?

Well, I'm going through Crystal, with my goal to train at least one of my Pokemon to level 101 by using the Rare Candy glitch that raises a level 100 Pokemon up to level 101.

My fave signature move has to be Xerneas' Geomancy, the colors in its animation are so beautiful and it makes Xerneas even more powerful, especially if you run a Power Herb with it.

Close second would be Roar of Time, Fusion Flare/Bolt and Dragon Ascent. I mainly love all the epic animations of those moves which explains it.

I like Volt Tackle and Bonemerang for signature moves. Don't use legendaries much so I'm not as familiar with their moves :O

I decided to take on entire Red's team in SS with only my Arcanine. Fireblast for everyone except for Lapras and Blastoise who will get bitten by a Thunder Fang. Im training it to level 100. It will also be my first trained level 100 :D

That's awesome! Best of luck to you, that sounds like fun :D

Volt Tackle is pretty cool. I feel it'd be rather nice if they were able to create more variations of Tackle attack like this (one for fire, one for water, another for ice, one for grass, and so forth). Similarly to Volt Tackle, they could have them portrayed as signature moves for certain Pokémon if they wish, particularly those that are more popular among fans like Breloom, Milotic, Metagross, and others.

Also, Arcanine is a pretty great Pokémon! Its design seems to suit itself without much trouble at all; it's meant to be a combination of dog and a lion, I believe, which it does seem like. On top of this, it's got access to some decent attacks as well, such as Extremespeed and Flare Blitz, helping it stay relevant when it comes to battling and whatnot.

I'd love to see a mega-evolution form for Arcanine at some point in future, if they're planning on giving it any! Hopefully, this will boost the Pokémon's overall popularity even more.

It was rather unfortunate that Volt Tackle was an exclusive move and only obtainable starting with Emerald, with difficult methods (I think you needed a Light Ball, which were pretty hard to get back then), and it doesn't really help that Raichu's Attack isn't the greatest to begin with. But i'm sure there are hacks that give that move to other Pokémon, and Gen V gave us Wild Charge which is a poor man's Volt Tackle but still definitely decent.

Im not really sure about Arcanine's mega evolution. If they make it more wolf-like, awesome, if they make it bulkier with a lot more fur, like that 5th generation's dog, please no.

I agree, I want a faster Arcanine with perhaps another type. If not, just better stats and an ability that helps it attack better. I like the wolf idea too.

Fire/Dark or Fire/Electric sounds alright.

Although I think they could really pull off a Fire/Dragon Arcanine. He WAS supposed to be a legendary anyway. Or Fire/Psychic.
I think Fire/Electric or Fire/Dark could be the best option though, especially F/E. It can learn Thunder Fang so yeah, would make sense.

Alsoo

I finished my first Soulsilver run! ^^

I took on Red with a level 99 Arcanine. Fireblast OHKO-ed Pikachu and Venusaur. Snorlax was tough, but apparently Extremespeed did insanely well against gim, Charizard couldnt stand a chance against the Thunderfang, and nor did Lapras and Blastoise.
Used only 1 revive and Raikou, Gyarados and Umbreon as substitutes while I was healing Arcanine.
Just as I had beaten Venusaur which was Red's last Pokemon, Arcanine leveled up to a level 100.
It was cool to see the credits again :D

Anyway that's it, after 4 months and 73 total hours of playing, I've finished Soulsilver.

I'm planning to return, plus I will be returning since its one of my transferring points from 3rd to newest generation, but the main story is completed ^^

I don't precisely believe fire-dragon would precisely be fitting, as cool as it might sound. I've seen a few fan-art of Mega-Arcanine before, and judging by those, I would imagine it to be fire-dark. If they were to make it official, Mega-Arc's design would likely seem rather intimidating, and I feel this type-combination would go along quite smoothly.

I'd also like to see a mega-evolution form Ninetales alongside, if possible! It's decent as its own at the moment, especially thanks to its hidden ability--Drought. With this, it sets up sunlight as soon as it's out of its Poké Ball, allowing it to take advantage with the moves it has access to, such as Morning Sun (it does have it, doesn't it?), Flamethrower, and so forth. If Ninetales were to gain mega, its overall stats would probably be boosted just like every other, and this would lend a huge hand to the Pokémon when it comes to battling and whatnot.

Also, congrats on finishing your SoulSilver run, Sven! I hope you've enjoyed!

I have, thanks!

Yeah, my bet would be Fire/Dark too. I would still prefer Fire/Thunder cos of type coverage, design, and I dont know. Arcanine is in general supposed to look and friendly, and Dark type doesnt usually fit that description.

To be honest, in the end, I dont care, as long as it gets a mega one day. Just dont make it a huge furry cloud lol.

I'd rather let it keep its Fire monotype; as long as there's no interesting background story to Arcanine's creation (besides it being originally meant to be the original third member of the bird trio) that'd justify a second type, of course.

Then again, GF seems to really like giving Mega Evolutions a secondary typing, if they don't already have one. Like Ampharos and Sceptile who all of the sudden became dragons. xD

Hey, they make awesome secondary Dragons! Kinda odd, but still awesome lol. Ah, everything is awesome as dragon, even when it doesnt make sense.
