In the Sinnoh games when you would pair up with another person to explore, sometimes they did that right, others it didn't go very well at all. I remember how Marley's Arcanine would be a headache and use Helping Hand every single turn, which ALWAYS goes first, and usually isn't even productive. Even when the last opponent would be at 1 HP. And for having the lowest Attack stat ever, Cheryl's Chansey does a decent amount of damage with Egg Bomb.

Sometime i'll have to do the Multi Battle in the Maison and see how that works out.

I don't remember much about in-game travelling companions, sorry to say. Though, what I do like about this is that whenever you've got somebody following you and battling alongside, they're guaranteed to recover your Pokémon if you speak to the person, which could come in quite handy at times, especially when you don't have any item in your backpack for recovery purposes.

In most cases, places we explore with these people do wind up to be slightly tough to get across, but with their help, difficult does become slightly less hard.

I did like that aspect of DPPt. Sometimes it was a great way to level grind too (Riley with his Lucario was great fun if you had a Surf user :>). Free heals and interacting with an NPC like that for more than one battle was nice. And hey, double battles!

I would dread encountering a shiny Pokemon in such instances however. =( And being lost in that cave below cycling road... oh god. That was terrible.

Yeah I agree, but thankfully in my playing experience it's never happened to me. My fave of those companions in Sinnoh was probably Riley, because he has that handy Lucario of his. But it's nice how you heal automatically between fights when the companion is walking with you, it definitely saves having to always run back to a Pokemon Center.

That was a great feature in DPPT, travelling through Eterna Forest with Cheryl and her Chansey and instantly healing your Pokémon after each battle was so useful. It's sort of like the Doctors and Nurses that only appeared in Gen V.

On that note with the Doctors and Nurses, some of them have had rather weird quotes. "If you have Pokémon in bad shape... Let me see your Pokémon in battle!" - The Doctor in Victory Road in the Unova games. So...why do you want to see my Pokémon while they're in bad shape? Alright then... But another in Reversal Mountain is a major ham about LIFE FORCE TO THE MAX! Strangely constructed lines but not stupid.

Well on the topic of weird quotes, I've came across plenty of sneaky innuendos in ORAS. In one of the rooms in Sea Mauville, two girls are standing together in which one of them says something about how she thought the door was locked, the other ".. Blush".

"Tch... it's no good... When I ride a Bike in the tall grass, nobody can see my coolness."
- Cyclist on Route 119, Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

I don't blame him, because that tall grass really did conceal him, or at least what I think it finally did in 6th Gen, because I felt like that the very tall grass didn't look very tall in most previous generations, with Sinnoh's Route 210/214 in D/P/Pt probably looking the least tall. I do remember this same NPC's quote was different in the original R/S/E, because back then you couldn't ride your bike in the tall grass or in fact, prior to 4th Gen, even run in it. And 6th Gen makes bikes now have this weird magic power to ride through the very tall grass that once blocked them.

Random NPCs always have weird and hilarious quotes, but as Pendra said the Doctors and Nurses in 5th Gen really were the most notable ones, like the one Doctor in Unova's Victory Road who said he wanted to see bad shape Pokemon in battle. And don't get me started on the Hex Maniacs and Fairy Tale Girls in 6th Gen... they say such creepy quotes.

... and don't forget that Psychic on Route 10 in Kalos who mentions your Pokemon's power levels are "over 9,000", as a reference to the famous term from Dragon Ball Z.

I also remember from Marriland's White 2 Adventure where there was this one hoopster on the Village Bridge who says "What the hoops?" when you beat him, and he liked that quote. And in the early episodes of the game he said that the dialogue sounded funnier than ever and he felt part of the reason for that was because he had spent over three months with the Japanese versions while he was doing his Adventure Let's Play Thingy and the written walkthrough. And in his Black 2 Wedlocke, after that same trainer kills one of his Pokémon, he tells him to "go hoop himself". Whoa there dude, we're not used to such volatile remarks from you. x(

I remember the moment that trainer double-targeted Foxtrot the Sawsbuck with both his Magby using Flamethrower and killed him. I might actually have to watch that moment again, but I remember some moments where Marriland was downright pissed after a death in his Lockes.

Never forget the one where he went a while without any deaths in his Platinum Nuzlocke, and then Caesar the Roselia gets killed by a PI's Goldeen using Horn Drill. He was leading with Firebutt (who was a Monferno at the time) and switched to Caesar thinking he'd use a Water move but... wow. I even saw someone making references to how Julius Caesar himself was killed in the comments... literal stabbing, which Horn Drill pretty much does.

In fact, the reason I watch Pokemon YouTubers is for the humor and entertainment, and of course those hilarious NPC quotes.

Sadly, there aren't many quotes that I actually remember. Of those I do, one's got to be the saying relating shorts—they're comfy and easy to wear. It's thrown throughout many places on Internet, which makes it tough to forget. That quote is pretty old, though, and as far as recent goes, I like the one in which they make reference to Dragon Ball Z, with something along the lines of "your power level is over 9,000."

I love the Team Rocket guy in Kanto from the Johto games. Notable quotes: "Gym of the Cerulean" and "Bye-bye a go-go!"

^ That same funny foreigner Rocket Grunt makes an appearance in Icirrus City in Black and White, in a house that you can only access during winter, fun fact.

And speaking of Rocket Grunts, there's another in the Mahogany Town building who says "hyuck-hyuck-hyuck", which is funny. Then he re-appears in the Goldenrod basement.

Say, is there any NPC quotes out there that change accordingly to our gender selection?

I know event-related ones do (I can't put my finger on any right now, but I've definitely noticed some alternate depending on our character gender and whatnot), but it'd be nice if a few unimportant dialogues did also.

This might not add too much from a glance, but I feel it'll help placing more realism, undoubtedly, as in real life, there are always some things we might consider saying to a guy, but not a girl (and vice-versa).

I know that Generation VI had a lot of quotes that were based on the gender of your character, but they were more plot-oriented and not so much comedy related. Although I do remember Rosa and Nate from outside the Battle Subway in B2W2, and while I would play as the guy I would sometimes get very upbeat implications from the former.

Ha, about time this thread was negro'ed. Anyway, the Battle Subway is probably the least popular of the battle facilities that were present, although it was alright for its time. I think part of the reason people hated it was because there was no Battle Frontier, but admittedly it was not very clever of them to copy/paste it in B2W2. But I didn't mind it, although I think it would have been better if it had Triple and Rotation battles like the Maison did.

I've taken part in Battle Subway a little bit, but I haven't precisely put much time under it, sadly. Although I do battle competitively and whatnot every now and again, battling in-game like this doesn't give me the same feel; I have no clue as to why. Though, the story was sort of different when it came to Ruby's Battle Tower. Back then, these kind of things seemed to have been entertaining; if I remember right, I was able to wreak a win-streak of sixty at one point (or somewhere around that).
