As i'm sure i've mentioned, part of the reason I don't play the GBA games as much anymore is because after getting used to the (3)DS, which has sleep capabilities, I find it harder to use the systems that don't, as they make things easier to take with me wherever I want to. Although I did play Leaf Green on my terribly beat DS Lite not that long ago.

Yeah, that's the same deal with me. One of the biggest problems with RSE to me was that almost nothing learned any good moves. FRLG had a decently better move selection to me, which is part of why I prefer them, but I have to say I also get more enjoyment out of the Pokémon in FRLG than RSE.

The lack of features in the older generation games does make it difficult to want to actually play them. I've replayed Platinum several times, but as for RSE it's only been about once or twice. FRLG seem to have a fairy decent replay value, perhaps that's because of the extended Sevii Islands and post-storyline plot.

I agree. Now that I've played OR/AS it feels extremely weird to find myself going back to the original Hoenn games given how different mechanics are now, and I'm also very used to being able to move more freely.

In fact, I find it hard to get replay value out of a game when a new generation rolls around.

As much as I'd love Gen IV remakes, I don't think they should come around for a good few years yet. DPPT are still very much enjoyable, in my opinion anyway.

As far as I know, GF don't want to talk about gen 4 remakes for the next couple of years. I have to admit, I never played DPPt, but in case of remakes of those games where to be announced, I'd definitely skip the originals and just go straight to those games instead.

I don't think they'll be much necessary in the future, because DP were the first games that used real 3D mechanics and things like Wi-fi and the physical/special split. But what if they gave the Pokétch similar apps to what Gen VI has with the touch screen now?

I would love to try my hands on generation four remakes at some point in future, without a doubt.

Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum aren't my all-time favorite Pokémon games, I'll admit, but I did enjoy playing through them when I had the chance, and would definitely consider playing again with greater graphics, advanced sound, and so forth (let's face it--who wouldn't?).

I'd be interested to see what kind of mega-evolution they would be introducing to us. I'm imagining much of them to be Sinnoh-based, but that's not a bad thing in any way; there are many gen four out there that do deserve a mega, if you ask me.

yes

I think Gen IV remakes would be cool (I loved Platinum), but they definitely won't make me as excited as Gen III and before remakes did. I would still play them though because, well, they are Pokémon games :P

You never played HG/SS? :O You need to buy one of them and play ASAP. They're amazing.

Uh, i'm sure she has, I don't think she specifically mentioned that in her post.

But part of why I don't think remakes like Sinnoh are necessary is because they were the first to use things like Wi-fi battling, the physical/special split, and a lot of other certain items that were present. RSE weren't, which I bet is part of why ORAS even exist at all - because that will leave them as being able to use these new technologies.

Hold on, I thought we were discussing future Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum remakes? Haha. I have played HeartGold and SoulSilver before, though, yep (I miss their following-Pokémon feature a lot; would be great to possibly see it back in action some day, in some shape).

Edit: Oops, I haven't seen the above posts while writing this.

Why is this thread called no?

Eh, not convinced by that reasoning. There's a bunch of things DPPt does not have that we have now - hidden abilities, mega evolutions, etc. RSE were never necessary either, they were just made because Pokemon games sell, nostalgia sells, and remakes mean they already have a base in map designs, Pokemon/characters, plot, etc.

Not that it means DPPt remakes will happen, and if they do they won't be for a good while yet.
About D/P remakes, we're going to have primal Dialga and Palkia?. What do you think?.
I'd be doubtful tbh. For one, Primal Kyogre/Groudon seemed to suggest ancient versions of them, while Dialga controls time anyway - I imagine it would just maintain the same form. Maybe it could get another form ala mega evolution, but I'd feel it may be better under a different name and theme if that happened.

It would be nice to see just straight up remakes for DPPT. The Mega Evolution and Primal Evolution is a neat concept for X/Y & ORAS, but I think carrying something like that on for the next set of remakes would be overdoing it. Obviously it's more than likely we're going to see the return (and addition) of Mega Evolutions in the next Generation, but I'd like for Diamond & Pearl Remakes to have the exact same storyline as the originals.

If there ever was a gimmick introduced by GF that is not getting removed, it would definitely be Mega Evolution. Unlike stuff like the Follow Me feature, or the Battle Frontier, Megas have such a hugh impact on the gameplay, taking it away would clearly force GF to find another way to "balance" everything out again. Also they would definitely make a hugh part of the fanbase really upset, because then they can't use their Mega Charizard anymore.

I'm interested to know as to how things would be if they were to introduce Shadow-Pokémon system within main series of games. Mega-Evolution seems to be working pretty smoothly, at least in my opinion, and if Shadow had existed as well, I suppose it'd likely be as equally as successful? At end of the day, it would be giving us more options, which I believe is a good thing.

Well we know that in the GameCube games, the Shadow Pokémon had pretty strong moves that (if i'm not mistaken) were always super-effective except against opposing Shadow-types. That was what I recalled... I only played XD Gale of Darkness once so it's been a long time.

And I think that since Mega Evolution was introduced, it's not likely that it'll be removed in the future, but it's not something I could see 100% out of the question in being no more, actually.

I don't see them taking out Mega Evolution any time soon. It's a big mechanic that I think pushed the series forward and they have no reason to remove it.

Megas were such a big change that they'll likely include it if they make Sinnoh remakes in the future. Twisted timelines, I mean.

Also what's up with the thread title? XD

Well it's changed now, since it knows what we're talking about.

With the new Mega Evolutions that ORAS released, things shook up fast. We had one that was banned a week after the games came out, one that's being suspect tested, and one that people think might bowl over a lot of competition (along with its Fairy-type brethren) if that one does.
