I downloaded this game recently and immediately encountered a problem when trying to save. It was giving me an error, asking to change the backup memory. I managed to fix the issue but couldn't find a solution in this thread, so I've decided to post up my workaround in case it helps anyone.

Go to Options > Gameboy > Select the GBA option.
Next, go to Emulator > Save Type > Make sure both the 'Automatic' and '128k' options are selected.
Following up, go to wherever your game's save files are and delete both .sav and .sgm. This deletes your saves (though they shouldn't matter because you couldn't save properly anyway).
Start or restart your game and you should be able to save now.

Is there a way to play this on a flash cart such as the EZ-FLASH OMEGA? I know the ROM size maximum is 32mb, but I was wondering if anyone was successful in playing the game on a flash cart period (i.e. using a rom trimmer, etc.). Thanks in advance!

Hi so i encountered a problem related to the orange islands,I tried looking for a solution online but reached no answer.A person on reddit had the same issue so i'll just copy and paste what he described:

"I'm not sure if I missed something or what but I was playing one night and saved while I was looking for Professor Ivy after just getting to the Orange Archipelago (or so I thought). Maybe I went back to Kanto to buy some things, I'm not sure I don't remember, but when I loaded the next day I was in Vermilion City.

The issue is that now I can't get back to Orange because the blimp captain just says "we're here" so I'm stuck. Am I missing some way to get back or is my save file shot?"

Are you sure that you applied the latest patch currently available (Beta 15.4's) over a clean ROM of Pokémon FireRed v1.0 specifically?

Yes i've done this before,I even just redownloaded the ups and repatched it just to make sure

And you are playing the hack in VBA Link v1.7.2 or v1.8.0, as suggested in the FAQ, yeah?

I'm playing on my boy the android version of the emulator i didn't see anything talking about the specifications of using a mobile emulator for this hack

Yeah, because it's not a recommended way of playing it. I'd suggest you to check if the issue is present on your end in VBA 1.7.2 and 1.8.0, or not.
There's something else I wanted to check though, did you start a clean savefile on the Beta 15.4 or you're resuming a savefile from a previous version?

I tried seeing if the problem persisted on VBA v1.7.2 and it's still there.Also too answer your question i started a clean save file on beta 15.4 like recommended.I already saw how it's not recommended to use old saves from previous betas plus I started playing this game on beta 15.4 anyways

It's alright I just blasted through the game up to the orange islands again anyways since my other save state was at the mewtwo chapter.

Just made this account to express my gratefulness for this rom hack can't believe he's recreating Pryce's storyline at Ilex Forest it's the best thing ever!
Speaking of which, does he intend to go on for the elite four arc or something? We never really saw them battling or doing what they're doing especially when we saw Agatha lots of time across Kanto but we kinda didn't "regret that" as she says xD

Hey so i think i've found another glitch my exp.share just...dissapeared.I was battling team rocket on the blimp and when my porygon2 leveled up and tried to evolve into porygon3 that's when the exp share was gone.Oh also my porygon2 doesn't want to evolve into porgon3 anymore for some reason after that
