Pokémon breeding

Pokémon breeding allows you to put two compatible Pokémon together and get Eggs to hatch into new Pokémon. You can do a lot with this feature nowadays - including passing down Poké Balls/natures/EVs, working towards a shiny using the Masuda Method, etc.

Do you breed in Pokémon games a lot, or not much?

The main reason I did breeding in some of my playthroughs was when I wanted specific Egg moves. Naturally, if getting a good nature and IVs were within reach, I wouldn't waste the chance while at it. It wasn't the main purpose, but as long as it didn't make the process much more time consuming I was ok with it.

I never liked the breeding mechanic. Last time I used it was in my Shining Pearl playthrough, but since Gen 9 added this amazing item called Mirror Herb I'm basically done with breeding for now, and hopefully will stay that way.

Usually only if I need a specific egg move for something; or if I need a specific nature for a rare Pokemon. Since hatched Pokemon start off at Level 1 or 5, depending on the game, I usually don't find breeding worth having to grind it up unless the move is something critical to that Pokemon's moveset.

The only time in recent memory that I bred a Pokemon was when I needed a male Ralts with a +Speed nature to become a Gallade, and already had a male Gardevoir (with the worst possible nature for my planned Gallade build) and also had a female Hasty Kirlia from my predecessor in the Save Swap Challenge that couldn't become a Gallade herself because the evolution was gender-locked.

Recently? Very infrequently. Plays with Pokemon restrictions, typically. Makes it difficult to breed anything. May not make sense either, time-wise (see: Get-Together challenge or an Archipelago game).

Does not mind breeding, personally. Would be willing to breed for a really good egg move. Also created some challenge rules around a stable of heavily-bred Pokemon. Enjoyed doing those. Breeds Pokemon for Pokedex completion and the occasional PokeCommunity event too.

There was a time during the pandemic I took breeding super seriously in gens 6 and 7. I already had a ditto with max IVs I got from a friend and I tried breeding a good Scizor. Took up lots of time and I had to find a metal coat to evolve it. Other things I bred were a Seviper, Swampert, Omastar, Salamence, and Volcarona. Getting better natures, egg moves, and good IVs was all I was interested in. Will I ever do this again? Definitely no. I wasted too many days, if not weeks.

I used to breed a lot, mainly back in gens 5/6/7 when I was into competitive battling. Had a trade shop once upon a time too. There's become a bit less of a need to breed Pokemon in huge numbers in more recent generations since we've gotten stuff like Bottle Caps and Mints and Ability Capsules and whatnot.

I don't have the patience. If I want to play competitively, I'll just use showdown.

Similar to Nah, that was in Gen 7 and partially Gen 8 when I was into it.

I bred very heavily in Sword/Shield, trying to collect HA Pokemon in special balls with egg moves. Also did this to some extent in BDSP. Never really got started in SV.
Also did a lot of shiny breeding in SwSh. Will probably do some more of that in the future as well.
