Okay, so are you updating all 386 with ds-style graphics? If you are I have a pretty solid way of adding them all pretty quickly. Unless you already finished which is fine too.
No, only select pokemon, namely the first and second gen starters and legendaries, and 3rd gen legendaries. I'm afraid that if I were to update all original pokemon sprites to DS graphics the game would corrupt. There is already an issue with Onix in the Pokedex (but not in battle). I found out that this game uses the leftover RSE trainer sprites in the beginning of the sprite set, so I'm working on fixing that and adding the rest right now. After that I'll do Kris's new front sprite and it'll be all set.
On a side note, I may use a patch from PokeMMO(which runs off Fire Red) created by RacheLucario and Darkshade that implements BW party icons:

And then there's this by Ultimatechris, which makes all in-battle pokemon sprites from gen 5. It could be tested with this after I finish the trainer sprites, and he's is using the same resource kit I am (for the pokemon in-battle sprites anyway):

I think that the Onix thing is in relation with the Crystal Onix event..There is already an issue with Onix in the Pokedex (but not in battle).
It seems it's the DS Pokemon battle sprites that's unstable with LC. However, the party sprites are functional.

Still glad to see work being made on this game This is easily the best johto remake imo. it had what I liked of crystal and then some extras to keep things fresh which is always welcome.
Also Meowth I LOVE the new sprites. my biggest erk to this game was some of the sprite work (no offence LAZ) My other question is that are you going to be updating some of the maps as well?

Actually, that's what i was gonna use when he was done with his edits. Since FireRed is a 386 game, it'd be easy to add those sprites. However, i looked into the Liquid Crystal ROM with Advanced Sprite Editor and there is no sprite for Onix. I'm just gonna leave it how it is though. Also, i'm gonna add reusable TMs.
