All good ideas.

I also took out a Guardian at Arc's temple. I'm gonna make another run at it after I eat an early dinner. ;)

Let me know when you hop online. I created the bridge all the way there - more specifically the one at Arc's location - but I don't know how to get in. Maybe we can tackle it together.

Heh, tried to log on the server today. Got on, thankfully, but since I have such an atrocious connection all I got to see was an amazing feat of Klippy slaying himself :p Anyway, looking forward to playing with ya'll again this coming weekend (and hopefully the next days after that, too)! 1.8 is the best update that Minecraft had for a loooooong time and I'm really psyched to play it with other people :p

There was actually duplicates of myself strewn throughout the Guardian Temple (yes, I'm still in there).

Please Matt and doge, bring me more ladders. kthxbye.

The update to 1.8 was the biggest mistake they made. I've make a ton of tweaks on the computer and still not getting above 10fps in the house. Normally it would average around 28fps. Hugely disappointed in Mojang for the performance stuff we were promised and weren't carried out.

EDIT: tested out the performance in an Ocean Monument and the speed is very piss-poor. Averaging around 3fps. I'm shaking my head at this so called "Great" update. With 1.7.10 without optifine I was getting at least 3x the speed.... says a lot really. :/

If you're still in that vicinity I can bring you some more in about an hour or so. Just taking the train home and considering I got all my homework done (woo-hoo!) I'll hop on for about an hour or two if you're online at any point.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. As this is most likely a universal issue, expect a patch to be implanted in the next few weeks. Like all new things, they're will always be mistakes that need to be fixed; nothing's ever perfect.

i can just make them whenever you need them lol but i would prefer to do it as-needed? im kinda trying to conserve wood due to lagging like hell while i'm on the surface and that includes being in my tree farm. i mean i have plenty to spare but i dont wanna end up with like eighteen stacks of ladders for no reason

That's fine. If anything, Klippy will give you an exact number that's needed. It would probably be best that he gives the count that he needs, in which then I can ultimately teleport it to him. That way you can conserve your wood but also get it to him in a timely manner.

Love ya'll and your help. As for ladders, I need many. I ran out and I've almost found the last Guardian, but may attempt another shot at just finding him. The temple is absolutely huge. Haha.

After talking with a guy from Beastnode, I was able to update the server to 1.8 so say hi to the bunnies for me!

Best part? Didn't wipe out the server in the process. Everything is just as we left it.

*drops the mic*
Terrain gen didn't change with the update, did it? Would be awkward if we found one of those places where the gen splits. Also, any new resources that might not be spawned in the world thus far?

It's been a very hectic week for the entire town this week, but especially Trisha and myself. Not only have we been covering the investigation into the mass murder on Museum Hill (see article by Trisha below for current details), but we've also discovered a rabbit infestation in Verdanturf! It seems Orpheus Pet Supply accidentally left two rabbits alone in a cage overnight and when the owner arrived in the morning to open the store, bunnies were everywhere! Currently it is unknown where the bunnies came from, but Chief Eoscuro believes the bunnies simply "spawned" out of thin air. Bollocks, I say. Chief Eoscuro also has made it clear he wishes to be called Chief Matt from this point on. We here at the Verdanturf Chronicle applaud his name change decision as it's really hard to remember how to type the old one.

In breaking news, Detective Klipp and several residents of Verdanturf discovered two or three blue fortresses under the oceans surrounding Verdanturf County. After boating to the structures, the men began being attacked by a devilish creature, slowing their muscles down to prevent escape. Several residents were killed during the attack and Detective Klipp was wounded. A strike team was formed by Chief Matt and Detective Klipp who infiltrated one of the structures without casualty. The strike team began a slow descent into the maddening facility, encountering creatures (see artist's rendering above) that attacked on sight and wounded the strike team when they were struck.

By Tuesday evening, Detective Klipp was the sole remaining survivor of the strike team - the rest had gone to do homework. He worked his way through lower levels of the "monument", as he called it. He discovered a larger, white creature that inflicted a numbing spell on his muscles. He deduced that this creature must be what was causing the fatigue in the strike team, slaughtering the beast. The muscle-numbness continued for a time as Detective Klipp struggled to clear every room in the monument. Finally he began to give up, wounded and nearly dead (rumors say he died six times from drowning, but myths and folklore are common in Verdanturf), when he discovered a previously unseen corridor.

Following the corridor revealed to him another white "guardian" (his name, not ours). He nearly drowned destroying the creature, but upon its death, the numbness subsided and he was free. Detective Klipp collected evidence of the monument and has returned to the surface, somewhat soggy and moldy, but alive thankfully.

Detective Klipp had this to say during a press conference:
"Folks, the creatures have been dealt with, but the smaller, green ones continue to come forth from the structure. I'm not sure they can be exterminated completely, but they cannot function outside of water as well as they do in the water. If you ever hear flapping or splashing when near a structure like this, proceed to the noise and destroy the beast.

As for the building, we will attempt to discover where it came from, as well as discover how to better defeat the creatures inside. We know of two more of these, so we need to develop a combat strategy.

All blocks collected during my investigation will be donated to the Museum of Modern Minecraft where they will be put up in a display for all to view and enjoy."

Congratulations for the success, Detective. To residents of Verdanturf, stay out of deep ocean water to avoid these guardians and contact your police department if you encounter one on travel.

Really? I've played with the developmental builds and they ran magnificently even on my family's really old XP computer. I haven't read about it, honestly, but to say that it's the biggest mistake is really something more of a construed opinion than a fact. I've read in this thread that a large population is affected, though, so most likely to say Mojang is already working on a fix. They're not a bunch of monkeys, you know.

A friend of mine convinced me to - finally - buy minecraft, so can I get my acc whitelisted for the server?

I can also say that Minecraft seemed to be a little bit slower. But maybe because I don't have Optifine yet, since I run 1.7.10 Optifine at most 30fps and 1.8 runs on 15-17fps.

Also Zeffy, I can't seem to find your xp farm. Where the heck is it?

They might have changed something, but the update wasn't necessarily about FPS anyway. It introduced a new algorithm in loading worlds, in addition to increasing the amount of chunks able to be loaded by a player (render distance). Hopefully they're going to release a new version soon.

The exp farm is right beside Wobbu's, near the coliseum thing. There's a huge EXP sign on top of it, you won't miss it :p

I'm currently in a place right now where I don't have access to Minecraft, but once I get home - in about roughly 2 hours - I can add you onto the server's whitelist. I'll directly VM you when I add you so you don't have to go chasin' to figure out when you can go on!
