Post comments are back! REJOICE!

Just coming here to say I've used them to reminisce and check out some of my older posts by looking at the ones I received. Now I can't really do that. Would have appreciated a warning.
 
Guys, whatever you want to say could be done through PM/VM. Not understanding why this is such a travesty.

Rep system does more harm then good. It gives members big egos, which most members here already have.

Clearly you don't know Ray lol. And I agree with what Vrai said too, I used it for reference sometimes and it was kind of unexpecting and sudden!!

PMs and VMs are something that you would first of all have to physically leave the thread to do, and second of all imply that the person should reply to them. When I want to tell someone that I like their post or think it's funny or anything small like that, I enjoyed using post comments because I wasn't looking to open up a conversation or get thanks for it, I just wanted to say it. In reality, whatever you want to say can be said through PMs, and VMs are often nasty as well, should we get rid of those?

Not trying to attack you personally, but rather explain to everyone in general that feels the way you do why people who used post comments liked them and used them as different than VMs and PMs. I would've been more than fine with making them non-anonymous since I usually sign mine anyway, but I guess somewhere up the line that was decided against for some reason, lol.

It's not that hard to leave a thread. If you dont want to have a conversation with someone, just leave them the VM saying you liked their post or whatever, and then thats it. If they reply, ignore them if your not up for a simple convo.

I could understand if this thread was talking about deleting VM's or PM's, but its not. Anything you put in post comments can be done with VM's and PM's. Thats what im saying.

I'm not going to argue with anyone, I just think its rediculous that people are getting bent out of shape because of something like this.
 
I don't see why you didn't just give members an option to disable it if they weren't able to handle the comments they were receiving. That would leave a lot less annoyed members while still allowing those who opposed it to carry on pretending it doesn't exist. I don't particularly agree with it just being taken away.

Although I did like checking my User CP every couple of days and seeing my post comments, it's annoying when someone says something nice and you can't thank them because you don't know who they are. >_>

Anyway, I don't care for the loss of post comments; they were largely useless to all but a select group of people. Out with the old and in with the new, I suppose.

Out of curiosity, is there going to be anything 'new' to replace the post comments? I remember there being a few mentions of a like system that was going to replace the post comment system, but I don't remember it ever being confirmed or it even being more than just an idea.
 
Well this stinks. I actually liked and used them a lot. Oh well. RIP POST COMMENTS

I would like to see more pre-decision referenda made on this site.

After being removed twice, both due to ridiculous dramas, people +1ing their firends for no reason and cliques starting rep fights against each other, don't really count on it being revived in the foreseeable future.
 
How about instead of taking away more privileges for everyone take it away from those who are starting the problem for example you could have handled it like this: "If anyone is *%@*ing with you in comments please contact a mod and we will ban them" instead of taking this away from everyone. Everyone who appreciated this privilege and didn't abuse it should get it back its unfair that's all i'm saying.

This function maybe have been a universal one. Where it can just go for one person it has to go for everybody. I can't speak for that though since I don't implement them. Like with rep I don't think it can just be restricted to select people, if it goes for a person it goes for everyone. Maybe a select user group can have it, but not everyone is Supporter, Mod, etc. You were supposed to report abuse of post comments in the first place then the action would be taken at the Mods discretion. And this wasn't about abuse issues it's about usage overall.
