I understand the thread moves fast sometimes, but it's usually with on topic posts. Lets try to keep spam to a minimum here alright? :x Apologies, but it's not making it any easier for anyone else to catch up to read about things that don't specifically pertain to the thread's topic, of developing and launching (and eventually maintaining) the League.
And I don't text and drive, I sent that as I left work. I am home now though, so my proposition.
Alright so first and foremost, any leader or elite that does singles or doubles, is first and foremost still type locked. Dual typed, yes - but that is the highest mandate for their teams design, above either battle format. By this, I mean they can't go with something that fits their battle style better outside those two types. So the pokemon choice in regards to specializing in battle format, is already mostly null. (not completely, but mostly.) The main difference would be the pokemon's moves and abilities, since THOSE are the characteristics that would in fact specialize the gym for either format, being as some moves and abilities only function (or function with significantly more utility) in one or the other - such as Helping Hand, Follow me, Heal Pulse, Ally Switch, etc. Their items may also play a larger role in specializing them to either format.
So, my suggestion. We don't have separate teams that challengers use for different formats, since that kind of eliminates the point of locking in a team anyways. This balances with the fact that leaders still can't plan for either format, outside their type locks. In turn, since the leaders will be planning the pokemon they do have for their format, we instead let challengers change moves, items, or if they'd like EV's on pokemon, against a gym that has a different format than the last. But not pokemon.
What do y'all think of that idea?
Also Prism League actually sounds really cool to me whomever said that above... it kinda indicates all colors and shapes and stuff
