4th Gen Questionable translation?

I think this should go here:

https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/212469

Not sure.

And I have the French version, and I do believe he says women. I'll double-check in a second. Look for a post edit in about ~10min.

That's almost as bad as Silver being "Passerby Boy" instead of ???

:/

i thought it felt a bit different to the original

No it shouldnt go there because im asking if this is like this in the Japanese version

:/
He should have been called Random Kid or something

Here's something I noticed.

"[PLAYER1] blacked out!"

and then it shows a white screen. Shouldn't it say "[PLAYER1] whited out!" like before?

Why must they change it... every toy is now becoming kid-friendly... WHY MUST YOU DO THIS NINTENDO... WHY!?!??! :,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,(

Good Complaint! I don't care if he was mean/sexist, that perverted man is a big part of the games! I'm serious! He was supposed to show the player that Erika was beautiful and a strong trainer, but some people were crude about it. If they're gonna change things because they're not "Politically Correct" then it's rediculous! It's an atrosmophe I say!

I know! Why make a kids game appropriate for kids? I want my pervy old man back!

Looking at the other thread, both this thread and the one linked to above discuss change in translation. Whether it be compared to that of other games, like the originals or the difference between the English and Japanese translation, they revolve around the same idea. That being said I'm just going to merge this one here with that one. To be honest, even if there is a difference, it's very slim. :|

As for what they say in the game, it's just text. If it were a mess up in what they said, such as a grammar problem or something, then maybe that would be something to complain about - though it wouldn't be from me. :\ However, it's a done deal, so I just read whatever they say and move along, while enjoying my play through.

Well, related to the pervy old man stuff. O know it's not in HG/SS but in D/P/Pt there are two fat men(?) standing next to eachother in the veilstone department store saying something like : `Two Buff men standing close, next to eachother. What's wrong with that?`
Um, yeah. You can speak for your self on this one.

Unfortunately, ESRB and PEGI have gotten more strict lately, so we can't have perverts, we can't have gambling, we can't have anything because parents are over-obsessive over their kids nowadays because the parents do not know much about parenting. And the books aren't helping either, so if a parent sees "I like this gym- it's full of women!", they'll get Nintendo to close down because "it's inappropriate for kids to see this stuff" even though the school system has worse material than E-rated Pokemon games. And you're not wasting real money on gambling, are you? Parents think you are, but you're ****ing not!

That's my rant on why does our translation suck. Don't read it if you're lazy.

Also, I censored my own words.

Ironically, the Spanish translation is really awkward because they have literally translated the English script. The only problem is, we place any adjectives after the noun, so "Passerby Boy" sounds exactly as wrong as "Boy Passerby" would sound in English. Same goes for "Team Rocket Grunt", when every single pokémon game up to date (save for Crystal, I think?) had used "Grunt Team X" for the Spanish translation >_>

I miss the pervy old dude, I noticed that as soon as I got the Celadon gym. I ran up to him, and talked to him, thinking "YAY It's the pervy dude!!" Then he's all "It's full of powerful trainers!!" and I'm like.... WHAT?!!?? Stupid ESRB!!! Oh yeah, and what's with ditching the slot machines?!! I WANT THEM BACK!!!! But other than that stuff, I really loved my Soul Silver game and everything else about it! ^^

I'm sorry but that was one of the weirdest/funniest things I've read in Pokemon. Especially since they weren't buff; they were very heavy.

I noticed a really funny one. I don't remember where I bumped into him, but I think it was one of the first trainers I fought when I entered Kanto. It was a "Young Trainer" John or whatever. He said, "I find it insulting to be called a young trainer. Call me Shorts Boy!"

After you beat him he says, "...more like Fail Boy." Were they picking up on the trend of using the word "fail" incorrectly?

Wait what pervy dude are you guys talking about? I must have missed this 6-7 years ago :O
