Restarting

How often do we find ourselves restarting our games, and why do we usually do it? When doing so, do we have tendency to select same character, or do we go with something different? How do we come up with their names?

As for myself, I always restart after playing a Pokémon game, especially if main-series. In my first run, I don't precisely take my time to smell roses and whatnot; I always try getting through events as fast as I possibly can, so that I don't wind up forgetting about former occurrences and whatnot (if that makes sense). If I do, it leads to confusion and disinterest.

In my play-throughs after that, however, I take things much, much more slow, to make sure I don't miss anything (such as an important item of sorts in the wild). As far as character-selection goes, I choose female in my first run (this has been my routine for a while), and switch between male and female in latter ones.

I tend to restart a lot because I do quite a few challenges and also I might do a normal playthrough from time to time but try to use Pokemon that I don't normally use (e.g. Milotic). I don't spend much time on my first playthrough of each game because I just want to get through it as quickly as I can. This is because I'll know what Pokemon you can catch where and when, how to get to places and what to do in certain situations. Normally, my second playthrough of the games are my most "proper"; I take my time exploring all locations of the map, getting involved in as many activities as I can and completing my Dex.

I have main copies of a few of my games (Pearl, Platinum, White 2, X and Omega Ruby) that I keep all my 31 IV'd Pokémon and the like on, but I have several other games, like another Platinum, HGSS, BW, Black 2, Y, Alpha Sapphire, and a few more extras that I play challenges on. I wasn't too keen on that at first but I like restarting because I get the chance to use different kinds of Pokémon. The beginning of most games feel a bit slow at first, but it gets more fun when i'm in the later parts, surely.

I treasure my save files so dearly that I never plan to restart them, although sadly my poor Black 2 save file (which had a high-leveled Join Avenue and everything) succumbed to corruption so I ended up starting my unused White 2. But aside from that, I did once restart both Pearl and Platinum a few times because I wasn't really pleased with my team or something.

I restart my games a lot. When I first started playing I found it hard to let go, but now whenever I'm in the mood for a certain game I just restart it. I think Pokemon is meant to played over and over and honestly it's hard not to when there's so many Pokemon to choose from. A lot of times when I finish a game I find myself already in the mood to use other Pokemon.

I tend to always play as the girl, but there are some games I've played so many times that I do switch as the boy just for something different. I never knew there are people who only play once or twice through their games until I started reading about it here. I can't help, but find that kind of weird and also a complete waste of money.

I like to restart games so I can have the opportunity to play through that game again but with a different team. I'd say Platinum has the best replay value, I've played through that game plenty of times including with and without various challenges.

I'll buy the opposite version if I want to restart. I cherish my save files with all of my trained Pokemon. I have too much hard work with sidequests, hidden items, TMs, battle items, etc. to delete it all.
