Here's a question me and a few mates passed around once, and it made for a somewhat intriguing topic.

You get to pick any franchise of your choice, that hasn't had an entry for a considerable amount of time.
Then, you get to decide one of two fates.

One last very well done great flawless game, or, a large library of games over the next decade or two, which starts good but is going more downhill with each new entry?

Which franchise do you choose? and, which fate do you give it?
(picking a franchise, and then not doing anything isn't an option)

The Xenosaga series and I'd give it the fourth entry it desperately needs, as I'm unsatisfied with the ending of the third one without some sort of resolution (putting it vaguely intentionally for spoiler reasons).

I'd be satisfied with that much, at least. Not only would there be a recent entry to a criminally underrated series, it'd be the amazing sendoff it deserves.

Haha, I'm the same but with Golden Sun.
A fourth and final entry would be perfect to close off where the cliffhanger of Dark Dawn left off on.
that being said my addiction for golden sun would also be satisfied with many many entries, regardless of quality

i am always and forever going to be an advocate for a jak 4. it's a prime time to do it, too. the generation that grew up with it is nostalgia fueled, all the games in the main series are being rereleased for PS4 by limited run games, naughtydog is doing freaking amazing. i know it's not a them thing to retread and come back to something else generally, but i mean uncharted got up to 4 and then last of us 2 is coming, so they've broken that previous streak of sticking to one series per sony system. they also broke that streak of three games, a racing game, and wiping their hands clean lol. i think jak 4 in the current gaming field would be great. not as much of a fresh breath of air as it would have been had we gotten to see one in, say, the early 2010's, but still.

just fulfill my platforming 3rd person shooter needs, naughty dog. i need some more bad boy and snarky ottsel in my life. and give keira some fucking lines this time, y'all done that girl dirty in jak 3.

It will never happen in a million years, but Silent Hill. I'd love nothing more than a good Silent Hill 5 (not made by American devs who have no business touching Silent Hill) or even just a remake of the first game on the level of RE2's remake. But Konami would rather make pachinko machines than actual games now. Plus we saw what happened to Metal Gear Solid after Kojima left, the disaster that is Survive.

Banjo Threeie please! I played Grunty's Revenge on the GBA and tried to get into Nuts & Bolts when it came out but Banjo needs a proper third game to end the trilogy. A lot of the original rare team has split up now but if Nintendo could acquire the rights to the IP and get as many of the OG team back together as possible then I'd love to see what they could do. This would also mean that we'd be getting Banjo for Smash eventually too.

I concur with a Banjo-Kazooie series game! I dunno if I could appreciate if Nintendo bought the IP though; I feel like it could only be as good as it could be in Rare's hands. Or maybe even Playtonic's.

Anyone remember Mischief Makers from the N64? It'd be neat to see that revived.

I wanted to pick Command & Conquer, but then I remember the abomination that is C&C Rivals which was recent so... fml

ffs EA should've kept it dead so I could pick it here.

If it was pickable, would you do one last hurrah? or endless titles, each lowering in quality as they come?

But which? One more good game? or various titles over the next decade or so, each lowering in their quality?

One last hurrah, I mean the series already was on a downhill trend (till Rivals, Rivals made it take a nosedive to the bottom of the barrel) one final hurrah to such a iconic series would be way better than to go on a downhill trend like it did before. Although I do have questions as to where the story might delve into..

Animal Crossing: New Leaf had a puzzle league mini-game built in to its latest update, but I want more Puzzle League (the last full game was Planet Puzzle League on the DS). With touch controls and all.

Another one! Give me Wild Arms 6, and make it a hell of a good game. We've only gotten up to 5, but I think the series is way overdue for a sixth and perhaps final entry.

Definitely Dino Crisis. The first game was amazing, the second game is pretty good but never played the third game.

After the success of the Resident Evil 2 remake, Capcom would be wise to remake Dino Crisis, if they aren't doing so already.

To me, I wouldn't mind seeing another Star Wars Flight Sim game. I started with X-Wing and then there was Tie Fighter that took things from the Imperial perspective(while updating X-Wing's Graphics as well, hence a 93 and 95 version) and then released a X-Wing vs Tie Fighter(a multiplayer variant at the time that I never got to experience). There have been games like Rogue Squadron and what not but I'd love to see a game similar to X-Wing but made in today's Graphics. The latest and greatest Battlefront from EA with regards to Space Battles is what hit close to home but my wish is for a game to be "exclusively" that. Heck I'd even go for an X-Wing remaster for crying out loud.

Then there's the Diablo franchise. First installment was solid from back in the day. Its sequel of Diablo 2 is still played by countless players due to the balanced nature of the game but also its PvP function. Diablo 3 was where things went downhill as the people who did the first two were not involved in the third installment. There's apparently a Diablo 4 but I'd love to see a final Diablo installment that reminds me of Diablo 2 but is so well done with updated Graphics that I never even recall the 90's.

Dark Cloud 3 is what I would want. I loved everything about the dark cloud games.

The dungeon exploration was fun, along with a cool selection of monsters to fight. The weapon evolving system was amazing to me as a kid, killing monsters to gain exp for your weapon then fusing crystals with it so your weapon could transform, I can't recall ever seeing a weapon system like that in a video game since then. What's better than clubbing enemies with a frozen tuna that evolves into a turtle shell hammer which then becomes a gigantic mallet? Although Bone Rapier to Evilcise was my preferred weapon line.

Plus the village reconstruction aspect was always fun too. Even though you had certain requirements that has to be met, you could still design the villages how you wanted.

The Dark Cloud series practically defined the PS2 for me and I've been wanting a third installment for well over a decade now. I'd say DC3 might be the only game that would get me to buy a new PS system.
