Hello Ladies & Gentlemen, my name is "Formal" LegendChu & I'm the alter-ego of your very own LegendChu.

Since the Treehouse has been rechristened "The Alolan Exeggutorhouse", I'd like to take this opportunity to bring forth a topic for discussion:-

What came first - The Chicken or the Egg?

This was a very hot topic of discussion here, so I thought it'd only be "logical" to carry forward this discussion in the "Exeggutorhouse".

I'd be very obliged if you can all grace us with your presence & participate actively in this debate.

I'm hoping we can have a serious discussion on this issue, because its going to affect the whole of mankind & Exeggutor-kind alike, in the near future.

I'm very honoured that you shared your precious time reading this & would now request you to share your thoughts.

    Thanking you,

    Yours sincerely,

    LegendChu

    P.S.

...The chicken obviously? =/ Jesus christ.
yeah finally someone answered ^^ *ahem*, I mean thank for taking interest kind gentleman.

But you see Sir, although it might seem to be the right answer, there is another argument to this.

A chicken is born out of an egg, but a chicken itself cannot lay an egg because it hasn't attained puberty yet, a hen lays an egg, therefore by that logic, the egg came first, then came the chicken.

I'm sure more people would like to add to that, please feel free to share your views.

    Thanking you,

    Yours sincerely,

    The KFC came first.
Good observation there, but fried omelettes came before KFC.

    Arceus came first
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm here to wrap up this debate.
    get rekt
I applaud ur observations kind people, very well thought of. These kind of observations can only be made by people with sharp-intellect!

While this theory holds true for the Pokemon World (which is a figment of Mr. Satoshi Tajiri's creative imagination), in the real world, things are much more complex.

There existed species that laid eggs long before chicken where introduced to the world. Therefore the egg came first.
Thank you for your participation. While your observation is right, there is no scientific theory to prove that those species were not descendants of the chicken. Scientifically speaking, the chicken would come first, because according to Darwin's Theory of Evolution, something would have to evolve into a chicken & eventually lay eggs.

    Thanking you,

    Yours sincerely,

There are two kinds of salt, one which referes to language or humour, in that case, no Sir I'm not salty. But I can understand that was said in jest. If someone asks me if I have any Salty jokes, I'd just say "Na". Har Har!

If its with reference to the amount of salt in the human body, yes Sir, I'm salty, every human being is salty. You see Sir, a human body contains approximately 0.15 percent by weight chlorine & 0.15 percent by weight sodium. This means that a human weighing about 70 kgs, will contain 105 grams of each of the elements in table salt, or 210 grams in terms of whole NaCl.

Salt helps maintain the fluid in our blood cells & is used to transmit information in our nerves & muscles. It is also used in the uptake of certain nutrients from our small intestines. The body cannot make salt & so we are reliant on food to ensure that we get the required intake.

Speaking of food, a 100 gm boiled egg contains about 124 mgs of Sodium, while 100 gms of chicken meat contains about 82 mgs of Sodium. So we can deduce that eggs are saltier than chicken.

    Thanking you,

    Yours sincerely,

Wut? You mean that the first egg laying species that was created by a theoretical almighty being/from the primodial soup/whatever else there was first was the chicken, or are you trying to tell me that you don't count first generation chicken, which most likely developed from egg laying reptites and only inherited the trait to lay eggs, but not developed it by mutation themselves?

In any case, if you tried to confuse me with your statement, you sure managed to accomplish that xD

Theoretically speaking, there were no chicken in the First Generation, chicken were introduced only in the Third Generation, as in Torchic, Combusken & Blaziken. Eggs were introduced in the First Generation, as in Exeggute & Exeggutor, which has now mutated into a three-headed, long-necked Dragon-species, with a head between its legs, *ahem*, I mean a fourth head at the end of its tail & has been named "Alola Exeggutor", which this particular Forum has been rechristened to, as a tribute.

But I really pity the fourth head, for the brutality it has to endure.

    Poor head! -_-

As for soups, they make for great appetizers/starters, unless you land yourself into one. Har Har!

    Yep. You're salty.

Absolutely right Sir, I'm salty, you are salty, all human beings are salty, salt lakes are salty, salt deserts are salty.

In the same way chicken is salty & eggs are salty, but the amount of salt contained in either is not beneficial in determining which preceded the other.

So the question still remains - what came first, the chicken or the egg?

    Thanking you,

Chu bro, what if before the "chicken" that we know now was a little bit different thousands or million years ago? until the latest generation started to make eggs?!
Chicken might came from animals whom were feeding on meat, who knows.

Yes Mr. Corazon that is quite a possibility, maybe the chicken had the body of a T-Rex & the head of a rooster or the other way round (that would be weird though, har har!). But then there's also the possibility that the meat-eating creatures, from which the chicken evolved, also laid eggs & the chickeny-Trex or the Trexy-chicken hatched from that egg. That possibility cannot be ruled out. But nice observation there Sir, thank you so much for your inputs.

i was trying to visualize what this chickeny-trex or trexy-chicken or whatever you're talking about would look like haha xD. imagine something huge like a t-rex having a tiny chicken head lol xD.

Exeggcute came first. Both the chicken and the egg sides are wrong, and here is why:

Exeggcute is multiple eggs, not one egg.

The egg came before the chicken because a chicken has to come from an egg, and according to evolution, the modern chicken evolved from the ancient chicken, which means the egg must have not come from a modern chicken.

So if the egg comes before the chicken, but the egg is really multiple eggs that come from an egg. And these multiple eggs hatch from an egg made by multiple eggs, it means that

    1) Exegguter came from two different types of eggs
    2) Exegguter is not an egg
    3) Exegguter is not a chicken
    4) Chickens dont exist
    5) Exegguter is the ultimate dragon type

so basically everyone is wrong and an idiot

    wut even is this
