For the first four generations, Nintendo made games for their main console at the time (the N64, the Game Cube and the Wii) that allowed the user to have battles in 3D with AIs and with friends.

Plus, some other things like minigames, an emulator for RBY with 2x to 4x speed-up, and in the case of Colosseum, a full blown Story Mode.

Nowadays, with the advent of Wi-Fi, the shift to 3D and in the case of Gen VIII (and possibly IX) the games already being in the main console, it looks like this a bit of a dead spinoff.

Until you remember that competitive battles with AIs, possibly with wacky rules and restrictions is exactly what the Battle Frontier does, and it's beloved by many fans.

So, here's my question: would you rather have another Stadium like game in which you can send Pokémon via Pokémon Home, have a "Battle Frontier" DLC, or neither?

I honestly don't mind a Pokemon Stadium I/II remake on the Switch or virtual console (that is...if Nintendo brings N64 games to the Switch please nintendo thx) with the same wifi capabilities we have now (such as either Pokemon GO integration and/or HOME capability). I don't know, I feel like I'm asking too much lmao.

Stadium for sure personally. I absolutely loved the minigames and using my Pokémon in more than just the main games. Most of the charm was seeing them in 3D back then though, since the main games were sprite-based, so idk how potential Stadium 2.0s can create that same charm/differentiation without looking too similar to current mainline games.

Emerald-style BF would also be 👍 though

    Pokkén-style graphics, maybe?

Yes! But then I feel like animations would be a lot more limiting if they have to work on almost 900 species, unlike Pokken itself which has a small roster that the team dedicated a lot of effort to. It'd definitely be a lot less nice-looking. Would be a ton of work, but if the game is maintained via a sub system like HOME then maybe we can expect it to have some sort of quality. :x

Despite not being a big fan of Dexit in the main games, I think it would be absolutely justified in a spin off, specially if we can get the type of graphics we're seeing in Pokkén or New Snap (both made by Bandai Namco, so there's even already a company they could theoretically outsource the job).

So I think that having a smaller roster (to begin with at least) of say 151 Pokémon spread among the different generations could make for a nice start, and then they could start releasing the other Pokémon as DLC (along with new colosseums / cups, which seem to me at least to be a lot easier to make).

But I don't know, maybe I'm vastly underestimating the work needed to go with these animations.

i had hoped for a pokemon stadium 2 port to the wii u back when GSC were added to virtual console. i think that would have been fun and more people could have made use of transferring their pokemon from the gameboy games with it being wireless instead of relying on the transfer pak (which could be a little fidgety anyway). that would have been prime time to do it. but with the move to 3D and the novelty of seeing your pokemon on the big screen being gone now since we get that with swsh, i don't see the need for a new stadium game. i think they missed their mark to do anything with the stadium games tbh.

i'm not big on battle frontier personally bc i like collecting more than battling, but i could see that being more fun for people so i guess that's where my vote goes. if anything, i'd rather another game akin to colosseum and gale of darkness, but again, their appeal was being a 3D pokemon rpg on a home console and the main series has already made that jump. i just kinda want to see the shadow saga again, but i don't think they would do that in a main title at this point.

sorry to be negative nancy here rip

as someone who had lots of fun with the stadium titles and pokemon battle revolution (which is basically battle frontier as its own game), i'd... honestly rather have the latter.

i think the biggest losses for me not having a stadium title is minigames. those by and far are the best memories i've had of the titles bar the battles themselves. otherwise, i've loved sending over my team in pbr and seeing them on the big tv screen and battling with them!

unfortunately, i've resigned myself to the fact that neither is all that likely to happen, which is really a shame since the stadium titles are super neat but these days i'd imagine they don't really offer a whole lot nor is there a point for them...
