Do you think it is real or fake?

Speaking of mains and counters and such, do you guys feel like any of your mains got nerfed from the previous games? A character you could beat with anyone easily and now you kinda struggle and maybe lose a stock?

I feel like Pikachu got nerfed quite a bit but I'm too attached to the character from the older games that I don't know how I feel about giving up a main for someone stronger like Lucario.

Pikachu annoys the **** outta me cuz all the CPU does is spam Thundershock.

I wouldn't exactly say that any of my mains got nerfed. Luigi's pretty much the same, just that they shortened the height of his B up but made his B down better. Ike is exactly the same as he was in Brawl as far as I can tell. They even just reused his Brawl voice clips ffs. Lucario's actually a little better in Smash 4. And I never exactly mained Meta Knight and Marth per se, but they both got a range nerf (or so I've heard in Marth's case).

But the thing is, I don't use those guys much anymore except for Lucario XD

But use who you want; all of the characters are viable and Lucario's technically not stronger than any other fighter.

And in a similar vein, does anyone feel like their mains got buffed this time around?

Everyone keeps talking about Rosalina's effectiveness, but for the life of me, I just don't feel it.

Has anyone done the Ken combo on SSB4 yet?
I've done it twice with Lucina and once with Marth, but I can't seem to perfect it.
I feel like it's all about the timing with the Down A in the air, but I don't know...

I never even attempted to do the Ken Combo.

Speaking of combo's. Marth and Lucina's Dancing Blade is more difficult to pull off in SSB4 than Brawl and a little more difficult to pull off than Melee.

I think it's just the circle pad that makes it more difficult to adjust the angle at which I want to end off the combo. Plus the button timing feels so random. It'll work if I mash it sometimes and if I take my time with it, it won't work. It's like an in-between.

I noticed that too, felt the exact same way about the timing. Though I think that there's a special move you can get for them that makes it more like it was in Brawl.

Which are your favorite stages?

Mine are:

1. Paper Mario
Spoiler:

2. Spirit Train
Spoiler:

3. Magicant
Spoiler:

There are so many pretty levels on such a small screen!

Ken is a very popular Smash Tourney Marth player who did a crazy combo in one of his matches and it became his trademark. The Ken Combo is this. Around the 0:50 mark.

Yeah I remember seeing the "Easy" Combo custom attack in one of the wiki pages for Marth and Lucina's custom moveset.

(sorry for the edits)

Reactions: Nah
I beat 6.1 with Ganon today. I also beat it with Mario but I lost to Master Core twice so it was only 5.1 :( I also fought Duck Hunt, but I lost AGAIN! I actually got challenged at the end of both and lost both times -_-

Is it me, or is unlocking characters harder in this game than Brawl?

It took me only two tries for duck hunt, but Bowser Jr. gave me a lot of trouble, even after I switched over to charizard. Eventually, I was able to easily beat him as ZSS, though.

Yeah it seems pretty tough. When I was challenged by Ness way at the beginning, he really took me by surprise with how hard he was. Course, it didn't help that his level has a really OP ally that can be summoned.

It's funny that Ness is one of the unlockables that is quite easy for me, besides of Falco and Wario. It started to get rough when I faced Lucina first.

Oh, speaking of the OP ally, Flying Man, I assume? I do remember fighting against him on 1-stock battles (it was after Ness is unlocked, and Flying Man is only available at Magicant stage, the place where Ness challenges you), and man, it was so hard. But if you managed to touch it before Ness did, it will come at your side, though.

Just treat every match as if you're dealing with a real player in the case of unlockable characters. I ended up actually learning things :)

Dark Pit was insanely difficult for me. I still don't understand why he was included.

I usually end up beating an unlockable character at the third try.

Good thing once unlock criteria is met, you can just play a quick Smash match, eh?

I too think that the unlockable character fights were harder than normal. They were super easy in Brawl and Melee, and I was a bit surprised when I lost to Lucina, Duck Hunt, and Dr.Mario the first time I fought them. I won the first time for all the other characters, but they put up much more of a fight than in the past.

Yeah the unlockable character fights were pretty hard. Except for Dr. Mario, each character that I unlocked both before and after him took me more than one attempt. I bet when I fight Bowser Jr, he is going to take me more than one attempt to beat him.

Oh yeah, those unlockables were insane.

I lost to Duck Hunt Dog around 3 times before finally getting him. Everybody else I managed to beat, but they definitely were a lot tougher than in previous titles.

Which are your favorite stages?

My top 3 as of now are:

Gaur Plain: A great stage taken from a great game (which I still haven't beaten yet!). I sometimes pick this stage just to listen to "You Will Know Our Names". Man, Xenoblade has really awesome music! xD

Unova Pokemon League: Black and White are currently my favorite games in the series, and I'm glad the games were represented so well in this stage. I like how it changes from a floating stage to a walk-off on occasion.

Paper Mario: Despite the bad taste that Sticker Star left in my mouth, I really like this stage, which takes from Thousand-Year Door as well, my favorite game of the series. When the stage music switches to Rogueport, I get an urge to play TTYD again. But I can't, I must play Smash! xD
