Surfing

Why do you dislike surfing in Gen IV? :o

Surfing is great! While I dislike HMs in general, Surf is one of the best water moves in-game and even if it were a TM, I'd still use it so I don't really mind it being an HM. I just miss the Lapras, even though I complain about it not making sense xD

I love water so I always enjoy surfing around the various bodies of water. However, Diamond & Pearl had you going at a snail's pace which wasn't as fun.

Surfing in Diamond and Pearl was SLOW. Like, compared to Gen 3 or even Platinum it was so slow. It was my first game, so I thought it was normal until I played another Pokemon game and thought "Why am I moving so fast!?"

I mostly enjoy it expect for running into random Pokemon when I don't want to. But they have Repels for that. It's a fun way for me to train my Pokemon that know Grass/Electric Type moves.

I grew up playing the Gen 3 games, so it seems to bother me less than other players. Ketsueki already mentioned it, but it's an HM move that is actually useful during battle. I teach Surf whenever I catch a new water Pokemon for my team simply because it's a reliable STAB move. I was also very useful in ORAS whenever I got into one of those five-on-one grunt battles.

It is nice that in Generation VI they show you riding on certain Pokémon, like Lapras in XY and ones such as Sharpedo and Wailmer in ORAS. I remember getting pictures of me on that thing when I first played through X, that was fun.

I do enjoy surfing on Lapras when it/taught to do surf haven't try surfing on shark or wail before on ORAS, but I do experiment it.

Diamond and pearl have terrible and horrible surfing speed it just soo slow to move on water, I mean literally slow and you have to deal it with. Luckily, Platinum fix all the slowness on P/D

Surfing is... sort of a slow process. If they were to, somehow, give us a way to speed up the pace--kind of like how we hold B to run around with our running shoes--I know I'd definitely enjoy it!

I love surfing, Gen III games and RSE in particular are the best. -7.8 on other games for not much water. :(

I've always wondered why we can't speed up surfing with b :( I think I kind of hold down B out of habit when surfing still lol!

I do enjoy surfing though to an extent. It was most enjoyable in the Hoenn region because of the dive spots :)

Don't forget about Sharpedo in OR/AS c: I thought surfing faster by riding Sharpedo was a nice addition, but it'd still be nice if we could hold B to speed up regardless of what Pokemon we're riding :c

What I've always felt makes Surfing a really tedious process is that you have to face so many wild encounters. It'd be nice to have Surfing be similar to walking, where wild encounters are only triggered by moving over certain tiles, like "deep water" or something to that effect. (and it'd also be nice if 99.99% of them weren't Tentacool -_- )

I hate surfing. I literally groan every time I see a body of water in the games; I just hate surfing that much. It's really annoying for me... and it's essentially going through endless patches of grass, for god's sake.
I'll stick to land whenever I can, tyvm.

Though it'd be a lot less painful if there was a way to speed things up (without surfing on Sharpedo, of course). I'd probably hate surfing less, haha.
