Oh my god I legit just spent no less than eleven, ELEVEN, turns, trapped by an Attract-using wild Swoobat, IN A ROW, before my Flaffy could touch it. I didnt even get mad, I just watched and tapped 'A' dumbstruck as turn after turn displayed 'Flaffy is immobilized by love'

    What in the actual firetruck

I don't blame you here. Swoobat may look cute but they can be lethal hax machines thanks to a high Speed stat and learning some moves that inflict flinch or some other nasty effects, and Attract there is not to be messed around with because infatuation hax always strikes you at the worst times.

It's natural to see someone rage when they get haxed a lot (heck I even won a battle on Showdown thanks to a Fan Rotom I was using getting too happy with paralysis and flinch hax on my opponent), so I can understand how you feel.

My record was paralyzing for 6 turns in a row with a Meganium. Yours were much, much, much madness...

I know it feels bad not being able to make a move for that many turns. My story is, back in fire red, I was facing the electric type gym leader with a Charmeleon, a Dugtrio I had just caught and a Nidorino. I was out with my paralyzed Charmeleon. And the goddamn Pikachu crited me 6 consecutive times with shock wave. HOW?!? In the end I said screw it I'm going all in, got fully paralyzed, let my Charmeleon die and got out with Dugtrio and wreck him (I was new in the Pokemon franchise and didn't know the type effectiveness of each type, so I wanted charmeleon to do everything, everywhere. I ended up facing the elite four with him being level 93 and the rest being 32 or something lol)

My only real gripe is that unlike every other status afflicition (to the best ofmy knowledge) love cannot be rectified immediatelly with a full heal.

    Whereas in real life...

That's a good point, I think there should be something to rectify it? Destiny knot is ok in that it throws the attraction back but you're still attracted.

I like Swoobat! I used one once.

Hoo boy, Attract. That move is easily the most infamous of the status afflictions. It was especially bad when it was first introduced, but it still remains a pain to this day.

Oh yes, I have bad memories of opposing Swoobat before, most notably from Black early in the year.

And I know that Marriland supposedly had one that was killer in his first Black Wedlocke, which was Japanese but never documented.

While Swoobat's stats aren't the best in the world, and the fact that NPCs using them can be just as annoying as ones that use Sigilyph (who is the exact same type combination), it does get fun when you hax like mad with Air Slash and Attract. Just look at what Pendra mentioned above about Marriland using one in an undocumented Wedlocke.

The fact I have a shiny Woobat in X has made me start to appreciate the cute bat more. I already loved all the 5th Gen Psychic-types but it's easily growing on me now since obtaining that shiny.

Aw, and I liked Swoobat! I used it once through the first half of the game and it's pretty good, but I switched it out for a Sigilyph at some point. I do plan on replaying White again though, and I want to use Swoobat. It (and Woobat) are too cute for me to be annoyed with.

YES! I know some people think these things are adorable but I could not stand them back in Black and Black 2. I don't like how they look and I hated get haxed out of my mind by them. Emolga > Swoobat any day.

I've never been a fan of Swoobat or its pre-evolved form Woobat -_- I'm really not a fan of its design, but more than that, the fact that they felt the need to put another Zubat archetype into the game. It's like they said "Hmm, every Pokemon game needs a bat Pokemon that's ubiquitous in caves and inflicts an annoying non-volatile status condition, but we can't use Zubat, so how about this new Woobat Pokemon?" It's like they just came up with it to be a replacement for Zubat.

I do have to admit though, I've never used it on my own team, so maybe it's better than I'm giving it credit for. Maybe....

The one I used to beat battle subway singles(timid nature, unaware, T.wave/swagger/roost/super fang, focus sash) while it is very gimicky it almost always allows for taking at least 1 pokemon down .

In game its just a worse sigilith whose only purporse is to kill curse/minimze/sword's dance(?) trainers.
I personally used this moveset on a unaware swoobat(heat wave/air slash/T.wave/roost) Shard hunting funfest OP

I just realised woobat can be used to bread heart stomp into miltank for more flinching goodness and better coverage so theres something useful for woobat I guess
